Let's listen to the new Boombox 4 together.

Let me know if you like the sound so far and if it's any better. Should I get hold of the Boombox 3 to compare both directly?

I mean it's called a boombox so it should have a lot of bass. I personally like that jbl's lower hum but it's definitely more of an outdoor speaker. It will be interesting to see how it performs outdoors

I wonder how much of that jbl 'deep' bass hum (peak is probably still above 50hz) is real bass and to what extent it's just virtual bass harmonics, trying to replicate the 20-35hz region, makes it slightly fake sounding, like some fan propellers running. Please test against 2 or 3 earfun speakers outdoors, probably still less than half the price? I like the treble on the earfun more, it doesn't have that typical ~5khz jbl tincan-attack sound.

"bass light" refers to the new lights on the passive radiators: bass boost off: lights are off bass boost on deep: orange lights bass boost on punchy, white lights and with that switch via app you can disable the lights even when bass boost is on :)

Ah cool, thanks I was sure it was some „light” bass boost 😆

JBL is not hiding it anymore with the distortion.

You can fix it with some user settings, but yeah the bass won’t sound as crazy boosted anymore

peak is at 47hz where passives are tuned on the sides

Would make sense with that hum characteristic, yes. If i remember correclty, the alain ross measurements showed it at around 52hz but might 've been a room resonance if so
