I wanted to hear if 2 Uboom X would have a chance against a JBL Boombox 4 and apparently both have some issues with particular tracks. The JBL although really loud and mostly controlled can also distort heavily with some tracks.

Unlike mentioned in the video, the Uboom X are playing with Boom xXX mode in the very beginning which I noticed a bit late. Honestly I am not that satisfied with 2 UBoom X playing in stereo, they start losing off axis quite a bit and i am not sure why, because a single unit definitely performs better in this regard. I also have the impression as if 2 units playing together distorted more than a single unit, which I cannot quite explain why.

Boombox 4 vs Partybox 100?

oluvsgadgets

Partybox has no chance, Boombox 4 should be rather comparable to Partybox 320 in loudness. I sold my Partybox a while back

UBoom’s sound is too stressed

Ground Zero sounds the best overall, not covered or muffled

Which firmware did you use on the Ubooms?

The boombox definitely covers the subbass region better (yet not always clean) which makes it more fun to listen to with EDM tracks specially. But the wider stereo field with 2 ubooms just sounds more pleasing and full in general, and probably even more amazing when put wider apart, while still being half the price. I wonder if the subbass of the boombox could be achieved on the uboom when tuned lower, probably not with as much headroom or volume, of course. Like a ground-O mode with even lower tuning/bass cut, plus more gain at 40-45hz and less treble pierce, but 70% = max volume step. Through headphones the jbl seems to sound a bit clearer, while the earfuns in stereo tend to sound a bit muffled by some midbass/upper bass/lower mid bloat. But in reality, the boombox might sound already too harsh at higher volumes with too much energy in the lower treble and presence region
