Let's check how both €1000 speakers perform outdoors at higher levels and be prepared for some surprise...

MMMM

If the Marshall was tuned better! The omnidirectional sound is impressive, but unfortunately it sounds coloured. I really don’t like the mid bass bump.

Im really dissapointed in the partybox. I didnt expect much from the marhshall, but the partybox distorting that much, man... its the same kind of distortion your partybox 100 had, but even stronger.

Does the distortion comes from the woofer bottoming out, amp clipping, port air turbulence, or intermodulation in the mids area? I hear a bit of crackling in the mids at high volume but can't hear the distortion much in the bass, like "boom boom" in the recording. If it's just air turbulence I might less to worry than amp clipping or driver bottoming out.

It seems like clipping together with intermodulation.

That's quite disappointing. The loudness was fine, tonality was fine, but the distortion is unacceptable. My Eon One Mk2 was also suffering from distortion at low frequencies, high levels, but I managed to fix it with a combination of EQ from my phone using the Spotify built-in EQ and the speaker's input and output parametric EQ. I was about to sell my Eon and replace it with the Partybox 720, but now I am a bit disappointed. I will listen to the Ultimate in person, although it has no battery, but if the output is a big jump, I will consider it.

Thanks for the review sir Olaf!

Yea I can clearly hear the distortion now using the Earfun free pro 2.

320, 120, 520, 720, neither of them play clean at higher volumes, all sound crappy as hell, only ultimate is clean

Really enjoyable and fun video, great snowy place. Disappointing from both, when I saw the specs for Marshall, I thought that it would be a really good speaker but dsp tuning is so important today. I remember that pb 1000 sounded amazing back in the day, also the big Teufel Rockster, which one is the best speaker from this "huge" class if you can remember, is the pb 720 close to the 1000?

I cannot say for certain I assume the 720 is similarly loud but far not as clean I also find the bass overpowering with default settings and even with bass reduced completely it’s still quite heavy sounding at maximum
