This time we will also try how the smaller Partybox Stage 320 performs against its bigger brother 520. I created an EQ for the 320 to improve the sound a bit for indoor listening, unfortunately unlike the bigger models, the 320 only offers a 5-band EQ which doesn't allow such a fine adjustment.

Here my 320 EQ for indoor listening:

Hey what are the firmwares?

Paul

Is the 320 on firmware 3.0.0 or 2.7.0? There was a recall/update because the bass and loudness were reduced to make the 520 more attractive 😅

I don’t know which number, but there was an update shown and I did the update. I have already returned both so no clue about the number

So which version is supposed to be louder and which softer? I think I did the update before doing the outdoor video and the 320 was in fact considerably softer than the 520, but not sure if it had been louder without the update. One would expect that an update would improve things and not make them worse.

Paul

Version 3.0.0 is around 2 dB quieter, and the bass doesn’t hit as hard anymore also less deep…Typical JBL move: making one product worse to make another one look better.

The dissapearing custom eq also happens on other partyboxes, and also the wifi speakers from them like the boombox, charge or authentic series

rockster 2 doesnt seem to be worth it considering its rated to be playing 15 hours on battery (at some level), and rockster 1 upgraded 20hours

the 320 actually sounds nicer to me tho... btw did you had any chances to hear the Samsung st50f? Looks as big as a 320 and also has 240w, considering JBL is owned by Sammy I was wondering if it's actually the same speaker, just €200 cheaper (at least here); maybe tuned differently

That would mean now 320 is as loud as 120? Hillarious, or maybe they did also update the 120 to be also softer? even more hillarious, because that would mean its as loud as the old 110, it would be quite unbelievable

Paul

Yeah, the 120 also got an update, but version 3.0.0 was canceled after so much negative criticism. However, all new units sent out by JBL now come with version 3.0.0

Paul

But of course there is now way to downgrade 🥳
