Fugoo XL - rediscovered

Jose Santos

Hi oluv, first things first, great video like always, you pretty much showed the qualities and the flaws of the speaker, thus using the most sophisticated and pleasing music to hear(even though i am more of guy who tends to hear more edm and raps and so on of that, well i too try myself to find something else sometimes). Well so along the video you were allways mentioning about the guy o asked that about the speaker and i guess was me you were refering too, and well tbh honest a certain feel of blame came in to heart making me just think to not mention me as i was so much embarreced, because i really didn't expect you to put much thought into this (and i say that as a complement, due too all the effort you had put already just to show someone a thing you even showed before, even though having so much work and i am very thankfull), but yeah one thing that made me a bit sad is too see that fugoo seems to had forgotten this investment and just discontinue the products(its more of a feeling tho), because all of these hears one still didn't see much improvement. Still the speaker is good and i would like too see more if possible against maybe both ankers(rave neo, motion+), vifa helsinki, denon, i also heard you mention stockwell 2 as i own it maybe yes, and minirigs mini with sub, i know its a bit too much and its just a request but well i will leave up for you to decide whats best i just am quite curious too hear aginst these all has the margin of what this speaker can do is quite big, also i wanna say sorry for the trouble i already made you have, and here i am to make some more, have a great day and see you in an upcoming video, ohhh also i w'd like to see measurents pls if possible i didn't see any from older videos but well do so if possible no pressure. Thank you, José Santos.

I couldn't find the original comment where you asked about the Fugoo, I couldn't even remember which post it was commented on. Comment function is not that well arranged on Patreon unfortunately.

it was on the anker rave neo vs teufel rockster comparison i guess, but don't mind rlly just say its some guy as i don't really want credit or for people too know that it was me, when i don't even deserve so, and its not that much important. Also i replied here as i was interested, to tell you about the comparions, thank you :).

Nice video Olaf, thanks for it, and I hope few more will come with this speaker yet. I must confess that I was also not fully satisfied with the cover mod, but actually there is nothing more what you can do hardware-wise to the speaker to make the upper treble more present (well, you can still use it without cover). To be completely precise, you could exchange all 4 tweeters for some comparable-sounding ones with lower impedance, which would result in more treble of course, but the sound impact would be pretty unpredictable and also this is technically quite huge impact to the speaker itself. Possibly with comparable sound impact and with less technical difficulty would be to add some resistance to both woofers, but this will result in lower overall volume and probably impact bass too. I’m not sure if there is some internal bass limiter implemented, which results in reduced bass for last 2 volume notches, or if there is simply limited voltage to power the amplifier, but in any case the added resistance mod on woofers would in the end probably bring more bad to the sound than good. That’s in a nutshell why there was only this cover mod. Even though there is some unleashed sound potential in this speaker, I rather started on experimenting with own speaker design than trying to correct mistakes from factory designers, but this would be whole new story 😂 Btw, the BT sync issues and “pitch bending” is quite obvious in this your video, but I’m quite sure that even if you had it shown to Fugoo back then, they would not do anything about it. 🙈

Nice that you're rediscovering older speakers! I'm thinking I shouldn't have sold my SB XL. Oh well. The Fugoo disperses the sound very evenly with those four tweeters. The Envaya would be a good competitor, also it would be nice to hear the Anker Neo against the Helsinki.

I had actually sent them an audio recording. I really had intense contact to the engineer back then. But somehow they didn’t even hear it from my audio sample...

Stanislav Baranec

That actually explains it all with the muddy treble 😂😂😂

oluvsgadgets

you mean the Doss? you can still get them I guess.

Jan M

Yep, the Doss. I could buy it, sure, but I have heard some people say the newer versions somehow sound worse than the earlier ones.
