Sorry, I sometimes mixed up Sony for Sonos in the video when I was referring to one or the other speaker.

How about the Denon Envaya 250 ? How it will perform against those speakers ?

Javier

Happy with my two Roam in stereo. Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱🔊

It’s still great but always discharged, and also quite directional. I played it against the XB33 once and I think also against the Teufel Motiv Go some videos back

Can you pair them somehow without Wifi? I mostly use it over Bluetooth in my garden as Wifi can get lost somehow

Stanislav Baranec

Once you exchange the faulty 18650 battery cells from factory, the self-discharging issue is pretty much eliminated to very acceptable level. And as a bonus, with 3500 mAh cells, you can get more than 20% extra playing time (compared to new unit). I would even say that the speaker gets more punch and dynamics to the sound, due to increased current flow, but without any measuremnts, it can be just my imagination 😉

I’ve used Xstar 3500mAh (it's rebranded Panasonic cell to my knowledge)

oluvsgadgets

Is it hard to exchange it? I wouldn’t even know where to start or how to remove the grille

Stanislav Baranec

I won’t say it’s a trivial job, but with a bit of patience, everybody with basic technical skills can do it. Here is some handy instructional video, which will be sure of help for you. https://youtu.be/p-Iomzgeo6s

Stanislav, did you also remove and reattach the voltage regulater that is soldered to the battery?

Stanislav Baranec

Sure thing, there is no other way how else you would exchamge the two battery cells, than by removing charging management board first and soldering it back to the new cells.

hi ! do you know if this can be done on envaya 150 mini or not ? thank you

Love the body of the Sonos mids I have to admit. Might pick one up for hiking trips. I have an xb33 and although I like it, the processed nature of it can wear on me.

Bob Witimer

Thank you for doing this!! I bought both. I really love the Sonos Roam. I hate the wifi part. I understand why they went that way. I also like the Sony. I find the vocals aren't as clear for me. While the bass isn't perfect on the Sonos. I'll keep the Sonos and send back the Sony.
