I am using my recent binaural compensation for this video. If you listen at exactly half volume with the Free Pro 2 and my reference tuning, you should also get the correct volume level that I was hearing in real life. I will continue to optimise both my compensation as well as improve the reference tuning for an even more neutral response which should also render my recordings more faithfully.

In the meantime I managed to do a quick measurement of the Motion Boom Plus just to check what's wrong with its response, and the heavy peak at 6khz is visible quite well I think:

I won't report this to Anker, as I don't care and am not here to give them hints how to tune their speakers properly. If they don't manage on their own, that's their business.

Anker Soundcore Motion Boom Plus - evening garden session

The Motion Boom Plus is alright, but I am much more excited about the Tribit Stormbox Blast. I watched a few Youtube videos and it seems to have much better/more bass than the Boom Plus.

I asked Tribit again now about a possible sample.

The Motion Boom Plus is a disappointment for me because of the sound quality on default mode. The motion boom still sounds way better for me. I expected to Motion Boom Plus to sound better as it has tweeters placed incorrectly rather at the top and deeper bass that is as good as of the JBL Boombox 2 but it did not live up to my expectations (sobs) That 6khz peak is annoying on the Boom Plus and a sudden roll off on its spectrum beyond 6KHz similar to my Tronsmart bang which sound a lot more awful than this. I appreciate you time in making a sound comparison of the speakers in this video and I must say... The Earfun you've tuned is a killer for the denon, not because its very near to the denon's tuning but the price of the speaker is a great value for the sound it gives thanks to your expertise in tuning the speaker perfectly. I'll definitely want to buy the Uboom L soon

One thing I forgot to add is that Soundcore could have placed those tweeters on the upper portion like I mentioned above and also slight angled outwards 🤦‍♂️

This is also one speaker I'm eye at "Tribit Stormbox Blast" as it sound really good and has the same driver as the JBL boombox 2 which packs a lot of bass. The Blast and Boom plus are about the same price thus the Blast is a better option for me

Just wanted to let people know, I sent a message to support with information about the 6khz peak as I own one that I preordered that I would prefer get fixed, and they sent this in response. I guess we will have to wait and see if they hold up that promise for a fix for this. Thanks for your input. We really appreciate that. Please be assured we take our customer voice seriously and I've forwarded it to our product team for further help. We plan to release new firmware to improve this in this month and I'll keep you posted. Sincerely sorry about that and thanks for your patience. Best regards

i spend the hole morning with measurements of this speaker. it was quite difficult to get valid measurements. Finaly i conneced the Soundcore to my Notebook via Bluetooth, an made quite a lot measurements in nearfield and in diffurent locations. The peak at 6khz is not fine. Here are my final EQs. Maybe some of you would like to test the EQs: 80hz -2db (depens on your room), 150hz -5db, 300hz +5db, 600hz +1, 1.25khz 0, 2.5khz +1, 5khz -5db, 9khz -6db, 13khz -4db.

today i compare too Boom vs. one Boom Plus. Dam - two boom sound so much better than the boom plus. I can´t geht the Boom Plus to work like the normal Boom. I will send the Boom Plus back.

When and where can I buy it ?

Marshall Willen und Emberton 2 wären noch ganz interessante akandidaten im micro/klein Bereich

To me the teufel boomster 2017 is more natural than the anker for sure but i think the sound signature of the anker is designed to « feel » the sound better with heavy bass and highs which is great for outdoor or parties, i think it would be more comparable with the new boomster 2021 which has more or less this kind of sound signature

An update: soundcore released 0.34 for the motion boom plus saying it will fix things in the mid treble range which was listed in the changelog. To my ears it sounds like they did nothing, it's still really harsh and sounds like it still has the same 6khz peak

Sturmflut

Someone here want to share his Custom EQ Settings for the latest firmware version 00.36? I want a smooth as possible frequency response, to have pleasure in listening.

Curious

Anker Soundcore Motion Boom Plus Firmware upgrade 0.36 fixes heavy peak at 6khz successfully, this has been recorded and reported on Youtube by Alan Ross in his recent video. I would like to know Oluf's opinion whether this improves Boom+ significantly and returns him back into the competition against Tribit Stormbox Blast? Remember it is twice as light (2.5kg) in comparison with Blast (5.5kg), features type-C charging instead of custom cable...though bass may not be that ground shaking...

The Issue with the popping passive radiators at high temperatures is still a thing, thus not recommendable.
