Tribit Stormbox Blast - unboxing & first impressions (Patreon)

Putting the Tribit Stormbox Blast against the Anker Soundcore Motion Boom Plus after unboxing. Keep in mind that I had to record audio with a 6dB lower gain than usual to avoid any clipping and distortion due to the heavy bass of these speakers. If you listen over the Free Pro 2 with my reference tuning increase volume 2 steps above 50% to get more or less the correct loudness level.

I will try to prepare an outdoor video of these speakers soon featuring the Artsound PWR05 as well.

It's great for its price, but I also like to listen at home with low volume. Having only 16 steps is a dealbreaker in my case.

I hardly doubt you will find something much better for low levels than the UBOOM L.

Yeah exactly my thoughts. Right now I have a WKing D8 from 2020 (first lockdown) and it was just too boomy, even with EQ. Tribit MaxSound Plus in itself is a nice and decent speaker for its price, but it sounds rather thin and has this irritating static at low volumes. I considered a discounted and EQ'd JBL Extreme 3, two MiniRigs 3 and so on ... but in all honesty, two UBOOM Ls sound amazing as is, they cost half, with discount nearly a third of my targeted options and there are no real downsides. For my case they would be just perfect. I'm pressing both thumbs while throwing salt over my shoulder that Tribit doesnt sabotage your project

good thing I've never bought the Motion boom+ The tribit have high sales in my country and its always or mostly sold out online for the Stormbox Blast

I am leaving on 30th on Italy. I want sth pocket sized with great size. I've had only for one week the b&o beoplay p2 and I loved it. (My main speakers are 2 motion+, so it's normal). Is there something, in that size that would be better? And I'm not looking for bass. (I keep my motion+ with the lower band,which is 80 hz, at - 6dB, so that's that).

You could try the Tribit Stormbox Micro 2. It lacks a bit of refinement but sounds really big and can also play loud if wanted. Not much worse than a Flip 4

Sounds better than expected, a slightly covered, but very smooth sounding speaker. Mids are maybe also a bit too pronounced, but definetely 1000 times better than the anker. It doesnt sound really off, just needs some slight adjustments to the sound. With an user Eq, which also allows you to use Xtra Bass, it would be a killer boombox. Lets see, how it performs at high levels. Is it also possible to connect two for stereo?

Connecting two for stereo isn't mentioned anywhere on their promotional materials, but I remember flossy doing that to two of them in his review video by holding down the bluetooth button for 5 seconds, so I believe you can

Oluv, not sure if you've found the custom EQ setting for the Tribit, but the app's interface is horribly unintuitive and you have to click the big orange EQ graph to access all the EQ modes, there's about 7 of them total including "Customized" which you can edit by double clicking on it

Also about the volume steps, on my android (Oneplus 7 Pro) I see my Stormbox Blast having 30 volume steps. No clue why it differs by device.

For some reason on android it has 30 volume steps as I just tested mine. It may just be something specific to the iphone

Can you compare the 2 uboom L's with 2 motion+? So that I know if it's worth to sell mines

The problem is that I want at least the refinement of the p2. I didn't need sth louder that that. It was, at max, 80% of my motion+, but under 50% battery it reduces volume 6 dB and then raised, reduces, raises. Normal for such a small battery. I've seen the all your vid with the micro 2,but it's not what I want. My motion+ doesn't let me enjoy music anymore🙁. It just doesn't sound great like when I bought it... (and when I had other expectations)

And I don't necessary need deep bass. I don't find it as interesting as some great kick :). The p2 was the perfect and just perfect amound of bass, using your setting. I never wished more from it(as long as I had it😅)

Hallo Oluv, besitze aktuell zwei Boom Plus für Pool und Garten. Bin irgendwie hin und her gerissen. Der Tribit klingt schon Fett ist aber auch schon ein ganzes Stück größer und schwerer. Draußen fand ich den Hochton beim Boom als kleinen Vorteil also wenn es um Entfernung geht. Noch kann ich die Boom Plus zurücksenden. Was würdest du machen? Dann doch leibe zwei Tribit's? Koppeln kann die als TWS oder auch mehr? Bin auf deinen Outdoor Test gespannt.

I only have 1 Motion+, it depends which EQ setting you use. With everything boosted it will be louder for sure but also distorted at high levels, with a balanced more “normal” EQ it may be similar in loudness but maybe a bit more bass. I actually didn’t hear much advantage outdoors. And 2 UBoom L completely outperformed the Motion+ but also Motion Boom

Anyway you can't tune the Treble, so that it resembles a more normal sound. It just doesn't sound right and I can't even tune it with an external eq to get better results. I tried

naja fakt ist das die Tribit leider diesmal umlängen besser ist! Da musst du dann entscheiden. Tribit geht lauter besseren Klang, wiegt aber dafür wieder deutlich mehr. Also wenn ich mir eine Boombox kaufe für draußen und richtige Partys möchte wird es die Tribit sein. Leider ist der Motion boom+ diesmal kein Wunder wie der normalen Motion boom :) aber dennoch nicht schlecht. Aber klar willst du nochmal eine Schippe mehr würde ich definitiv zudem Tribit wechseln! Vorallem gibt es da soviel ich weiß mittlerweile auch ein EQ und Custom Eq via App.

Die App spinnt total rum. Habe es seit drei Tagen nicht geschafft die Blast mit der App zu connecten. Alles probiert...

Danke für deine Meinung und Einschätzung. Es wird wohl so sein. Also den Tribit werde ich sicher auch noch einmal genauer prüfen. Finde mit dem heutigen Update ist es etwas besser mit dem Anker geworden.

@oluv welchen speaker würdest du aktuell empfehlen in der Kategorie/Größe? Tribit stormbox blast, teufel boomster (neuster) oder die jbl boombox 3 evtl. (abwarten?)?

Boombox 3 wird 550€ kosten, wenn dir das wert ist vielleicht abwarten, aber preisleistungsmässig gibt’s nix besseres momentan als den Tribit. Ich hab den heute kurz mal gegen den Boomster gespielt und der klang fast wie ein Witz dagegen vor allem wenn’s lauter wurde.

Die BB3 soll irgendwie ein neues Design haben. Weiß aber leider (noch) nichts darüber...vllt lohnt es sich ja wirklich zu warten. Aber 500€ plus für eine boombox ist auch schon ne Hausnummer...
