Earfun UBOOM L - still worth in 2023? (Patreon)

Here you should hear the difference in sound with different units also explaining my ideas regarding the tuning of the UBoom L and comparing it to the Vifa Helsinki and Soundcore X600 again.

I had to adjust my binaural compensation a bit for an even more realistic sound. I should have mids more neutral now than with my previous attempts but I need to investigate on this a bit more.

Please let me know if you notice any improvement in audio quality compared to my older recordings. Listening with the HD600+V3x it should sound pretty lifelike now, still not 100% equal though.

To me the older model sounds more grainy, like it has less resolution. The newer speaker sounds a bit smoother and more open.

I think the difference is captured pretty well through my recordings now. Remember the difference is just due to a less smooth response in that area with some added gaps or peaks shifted. It has nothing to do with “better drivers” or other stuff.

Oluv I love the Uboom L. Is there a new firmware on the newer one? I mean what's the best tuning firmware that you like on Ubooml?

They should be the same sound wise up to 4.8. 5.0 is not my work

It's crazy what you got out of the tiny speaker. The vifa doesn't sound that much better than the Uboom L. Also the recording sounds great.

So it should be “safe” to upgrade to 4.8 and still keep your tuning from 4.3?

Yes I didn’t notice any difference in sound they just changed some internal bugs

Woah new sounds for me perfect. Mine has some intermodulation and some problems with treble. In some tracks it sounds like hr and its really close to intermodulation

soundcore has made an eq in this model where you can adjust each hz from 36hz to 20khz

The sample variation is definitely frustrating, makes me want to swap, but I do not have all the money in the world hmm. I like my older units, but still this bothers me. Thank you for showing the differences, really means alot.

Bzgl. Aufnahme: Die Scheibe kratzt im Ohr wie "in echt"... 😬 Bin gespannt ob du die App am X600 zum Laufen bringst, und ob du dann via EQ was Brauchbares rausholen kannst. Soundcore ist zumindest sehr aktiv was updates betrifft, jedenfalls fixen sie die meisten Probleme relativ zeitnah. Bis auf diese EQ-Problematik, bei der ein SMP auf default settting switcht, sobald man mal die Basstaste bemüht...

Thank you Oluv, I wanted to hear the Helsinki again with new compensation which is noticeably better regardless of listening device. For example when I'm listening with mdr110 (109 filters in apo tho), you can easily notice how much more precise is the ability to locate different noises (lizard) and those are complete crap... But my UboomL unit has noticable lack of higher frequencies on the right driver, got 10$ refund for that, still amazing how good it sounds at lower volumes... In perfect world it would have tweeters so that slight ringing in the upper treable could be eliminated even for on axis

Funktioniert die App, also der EQ, gar nicht? Mich würde wirklich interessieren was man aus dem X600 rauskitzeln kann

For my unit, which measures like Oluvs graphs, using IOS Spotify, in the EQ menu, drop the 15 KHz all the way down to get a balanced sound. Place the speaker in a corner for a little extra bass if desired. Speaker sounds great this way

hey, hab soeben einen Earfun bestellt und wollte mal wissen wo genau ich starten muss was das flashen und tunen angeht. Hatte weiter oben was gelesen von 4.8er Firmware aber 4.3er Tuning und jetzt bin ich bisschen verwirrt, was das bedeutet. Sollte ich die 4.8er oder 4.3er flashen?

4.8 sollte Ok sein, aber schau vorher mal was überhaupt installiert ist.

Meine kam die Tage mit 5.0 an, hab sie heute auf 4.8 zurück geflasht. Klingt deutlich besser. Auch wenn ich mich generell daran gewöhnen muss , dass im kickbass, die Denon 250bt mir besser gefallen hat. Leider ist die mir vor paar Wochen kaputt gegangen.

I bought 2 of them and I'm really impressed by the balance. If anybody know a nice case for this speaker? Please let me know. Just want to make sure it doesn't get damaged during holiday in the suitcase.
