Wow, so I just want to start by saying a massive thank you to all the patrons who have come and gone and anyone who has been a patron from the start. James’ RPG art has been an amazing experience for me so far and I just want to try to express my gratitude and appreciation to all those who have chosen to support my artwork and hopefully found a new level of immersion in their D&D games because of the art. I have definitely gone much deeper into the locations of Curse of Strahd than I first thought I would. This has been great, because I love the adventure and the tone of Barovia and this has really flavoured my artwork along the way.

But all good things must come to an end and I have decided, starting in December, to move on from Curse of Strahd locations. For this I want input from you, my patrons. I have really enjoyed making the collaborations with Alex from Neutral Party and I plan to continue making these collaborations at least once a month. So my question is, would you all like to see more of these kinds of locations or is there another wizards of the coast adventure that has a lot of demand for artwork? I would love suggestions and then I will put up a poll later this month for you all to vote on.

I am very excited on the next step for James‘ RPG art, I really believe things are getting bigger and better as time goes on...

I have also been asked how I create my artwork quite a few times since I started publishing my Curse of Strahd locations. I understand the curiosity because I think I often use quite a few unique techniques that a lot of other artists don't use. So therefore, going forward I will be releasing a full breakdown of how I go about making my animated paintings. This will include things like inspiration and photo reference that I gather, layout and colour palette choices, digital painting techniques, full animation breakdowns.

I have found a huge benefit in watching and reading how other artists I admire go about their work. Getting tips from their process I think speeds up my own learning experience and gives me a greater appreciation for how much time and effort goes into creating art In general. So therefore, because I think some of my techniques are unique it might helps those who are trying to learn and improve their own artwork, or may just be curious about how it’s created and my thought process behind it.

Because I want this to be a useful tool for patrons, I want to put some time and effort into each post, so the higher tier reflects this.

So thanks again everyone for your support, I have always wanted to consider myself an artist from the time I taught myself how to draw 3-4 years ago, and I think in the last 6 months or so this has finally become a reality for me. The only reason for this being all the positive feedback and critique I get from patrons and my friends when I post a new image, so again, thank you very much and I’m so excited for the future. I hope to keep wowing your players with great location artwork!
