Baldurs Gate - Still Image (Patreon)

I can honestly say I was a little intimidated going into this location. Such an iconic city in the history of Dungeons and Dragons and with so much amazing artwork detailing the city already out there. To me, Baldurs gate is the iconic sea port, and I knew I needed to try to express this in the story of the image. I wanted to give a different perspective from most of the depictions I could find online, and I hadn't seen any angles from the sea, so I thought that would be a fun challenge.

And a challenge it was. 

As usual I based the geography on the maps provided of the city in the Descent into Avernus module, but getting the perspective right and the scale of the buildings to the land was quite tricky and took a while to get right. As usual I wanted the scale to be as realistic as possible, and I tried to keep this in mind while I cheated a little bit ;)

I had a lot of fun painting this one, and I think the early morning vibes play a good role in the tone of the image, so let me know what you think. I hope I did it justice.
