We went out and explored… again! But this time, very far away from Vancouver! 😆

We went to Anime Expo in Los Angeles, USA! 🇺🇸✨

This is likely our 4th or 5th time attending, but to be honest, every year is so busy, so we really don’t know much about LA and have never had the chance to explore. This year we decided to take it really easy since we’re still getting used to being out and around, and we had an absolutely wonderful time! 🥹

We stayed with our close friend and had so much fun together with her! 🥹💕 We had tea parties each night in our hotel and wrapped up the day with lots of yummy snacks! Come to think of it, it probably wasn’t a good idea to be having green tea so late at night, but I guess we were so zonked from the con that it wasn’t a problem!

Throughout the weekend, we basically drifted around the con, doing what ever caught our eyes or whatever we felt like at the moment! 😆 We never really even left the main hall area…

We saw so much amazing art in the Artist Alley, and we even bumped into a super cute Saya cosplayer who showed us to a booth selling Saya stickers, as well as other Nitroplus and Touhou artwork! She was so cute… ✨ We want her to continue to love visual novels lots!! 🙌🏻

We saw lots of other cute cosplayers who we got photos of! 🙏🏻 We really enjoyed running around and getting quick snaps of them.

We also went to a super cute cafe with some friends! We all shared cute drinks and dessert together! 🥹 Ally’s Lavender Milk Tea was our favorite because it tasted so fresh and natural! It even had bits of dried lavender blossoms in it! 🌷

In the Exhibitor’s Hall, we had lots of fun window shopping and looking at cute merch and anime cels! 😆 We were especially impressed with the kinds of figures they’re coming out with now… We’re super tempted by the HELLO! GOOD SMILE series because they remind us of soft vinyl figures, and we’re huge softies when it comes to soft vinyls. 🥺💕 Also the size of regular figures nowadays are crazy!! They’re huge and so high quality and it makes us want to take them home… Here were some of our favorites! ✨

This time, we finally went to CoCoIchi for our favorite curry! 🍛 It was so good and tasted just like how it is in Japan, but the portions were HUGE! We even got the 200g of rice (discount if you want less rice!) but the amount of curry they give you is still so much, we couldn’t finish it even if it was our only meal of the day! 😆 We also had to try their jumbo Thai tea which they don’t have in Japan, and it was absolutely ginormous! We also opened up some 1998 Comiket exclusive Rance cards we got as a gift (thank you)! 🎁✨ Super special!!

We finally made sure to check out Little Tokyo properly this time! 🗼 We had been before, but only very briefly! We really liked the atmosphere and feeling there, and the vendor selling imagawayaki and sanshoku dango was so yummy! They were both so fresh and soft! 🤤 Lots of retro games too!

Finally, we also were able to (somehow) get a ticket for kson’s Meet & Greet! 😵 We talked about it lots in our Twitter Space, but we feel really lucky to have been able to meet her! We told her congrats about winning the Yakuza Cabaret Girl audition, and that it made us really happy to see her dream come true! ✨ We’ll continue to work hard for our dreams too! 💪🏻

We also went to Asayoru Maid Cafe, a permanent maid cafe in LA, and went all out on getting the Deluxe Menu Set for both of us with a food item, drink, dessert, and cheki! 💕 We also ordered two dance performances because why would we not? 😆✨ Our maids Sakurin and Ai were super cute and friendly, so even if you’re a bit shy, we really recommend going! It was a wonderful experience! 👍🏻

We also noticed that Sega had a super cute photo booth to advertise the new Yakuza game coming out! They had famous cosplayers for a different character each day, and when we went by it just happened to be Kiryu there, as well as almost no line!! ✨ Of course we took the chance to pose altogether! We’ll make our dreams come true even if we have to use our fists! 👊🏻

We had to voice our unhappiness with a certain character too… Again, with our fists!! Take that!! Leave all the cute girls alone! 😠✨

We also managed to go to one panel the whole weekend, which was the Sekai Project panel! We’re looking forward to Nie no Hakoniwa! 🙏🏻

We’re really happy to have been able to go to AX and are thankful to all the friends we were able to bump into! 💕 It meant soooo much to us! Like every year, we’re not sure if we’ll be able to go to AX again next year, but we feel so much more energized and excited from all the passion and energy we felt over the weekend! 🔥 The year is almost half over (yikes), but we’re really excited for everything to come!! Let’s do our best, okay!!! ✨✨✨

It looks like you had a really fun and fulfilling trip!! I've been to smaller conventions here, and yeah, it's a lot of window shopping (till something catches your eye and bum! Wallet suffers). Also it's always amazing to see the wonderful cosplays people make and wear (nice to see Reimu is still popular, but Marisa where). New figures are so amazing these days, and ngl, I'd love to get a figure based on Asanagi's illustrations 😆. I also spy with my little eye a Meiya pin? Didn't know you read Muv-Luv! (While it's an amazing reading, it's too long for it's own good). The good also looks so tasty... I gotta say my whole family has a weakness for food, so if I ever go there, most of my money will go on food. I'm also happy for you since you get to spend a lot of days with your friend, it's always a happy occasion. Hope you get more chances to spend time with your loved ones!! (I guess you met Steiner? I know he always gives away some Rance cards, good person in my book. I also think you mentioned the Rance shirt? 見せて見せて) (Don't worry Sally, next time you'll get some other cute girl's Twitter, you just need to level up your flirting skills)

that looks so fun! i wish we have a huge convention like that in my country, but i will have to be content with some smaller conventions. and i cannot believe you got to meet the one and only souchou, must be a great experience to talk with her! i see lots and lots of cute and amazing cosplayers too! and of course CoCoIchibanya, one of the best curry i've tried I'm glad you are having tons of fun on the trip!

Oh! You were at Anime Expo as well? I was there too! I've been going since 2010 with my sister and it's easily the highlight of my year every time. I suspect that it would probably be impossible to randomly spot someone during a convention of easily 100,000+ attendees, but in case you spotted a very tall guy who had a Shy Guy mask either behind his head or off his shoulder then that was me! Can completely agree with the sentiment of Artist Alley being amazing! Did you notice how many booths were doing Sticker rallies this year? It's such an ingenious way to not just help other booths with sales and interest, but also guide attendees to merch that might also align with their tastes! Sadly I didn't complete a single card, but it did show me some hidden gems that I would've missed otherwise! I spent so much there this year, and that was even holding back on a lot of temptations... The weather this year was exceptionally good as well! It was a full 20 degrees F cooler in LA than my hometown, and at a convention where you might end up standing in line outside for hours then that's a miracle! I've never cosplayed but I talked to a few who were so grateful that they didn't have to worry about serious heat stroke or dehydration while cosplaying. It's always nice to get a unique POV of Anime Expo from people with needs different from your own! I hope you two enjoyed the semi-cool weather as well! One thing that made this year different from the rest as well was the timing of the Hotel Strikes. My stay of choice is always the Westin Bonaventure, and luckily it was one of the few, if not the only one, that had reached an agreement with their workers. My sister and I always do our best to keep our hotel rooms as clean and tidy as possible to not give the help a hard time, and I hope that all those involved were able to reach a desired settlement after the con was over. Have you ever tried lining up for a highly anticipated guest or panel? This year I went out and attempted to line up early for an autograph I wanted to get, eventually getting to the center at 4:30 am to wait for the tickets to go out at 8am. Apparently there were people who had been waiting there since the previous day, even bringing blankets & pillows to sleep on the concrete! Despite them being so early, one of the hottest signings, Ichigo's VA from Bleach, sold out of tickets almost immediately! So even waiting that long can still break your heart! The tickets I waited for ran out when I was only 20 people away from the front of the line, I was devastated! But luckily a Discord aquaintence had gotten 2 somehow and let me have their spare! It was the best part of the Con, both for their generosity and for bouncing back from such a low point! Apologies that this is beginning to sound like a blogpost of my own lol, but I had no idea you two were enjoying Anime Expo as well and just got excited to share & hear all about it! There's always lots to see and do there, so much so that it's impossible to be 100% knowledgeable of everything going on even after it's all done! I hope there's still more fun stories that happened while you were there, even if we never hear about them! And if you do decide to go again in 2024 that you have a great time there as well! (Also it may not have been at Anime Expo proper, but the Hololive Concert blew my socks off, holy moley! The power of idols man, it's electric)

Wow these are some great photos! I'm happy that the two of you got to take a vacation and enjoy as much as you could at the con. There's so much to explore in such little time but I'd say you made the most of it. I went last year and it was a life changing experience, I've never been to a convention of that magnitude and I got to meet several online friends for the first time. I couldn't go this time around but I'm going to make the effort to go next year. I'm taking your advice on not planning anything out once I get there and instead enjoy what's going on in the moment. Though I would love to meet several V-Tubers I watch lol The both of you have inspired me to push myself and see to it that I get out there next year so I can make new memories with my friends since we plan on meeting up again. Thanks for sharing your photos and stories, I look forward to hear about your next adventure. Also on a final note, I received your postcard and it deeply touched me. I'll have to find a frame for it and treasure it forever. Ally & Sally, you're the best.

Holy smokes, what is that sea urchin bowl? Never heard of something like that before! (I would totally try it)

That was surely an AXperience for you two! I mainly went to get the hololive merch that caught my eye a while ago and finally met the VShojo members that I didn't get to last year! It was a pleasure to run into you while trying to meet kson! It made up for all the stuff I missed out on at this year's convention (like the Yoshitaka Amano and YOSHIKI panels). Had burger to end my convention weekend as it was the 4th of July. I understand if you're not sure about going next year, but we never know. Thanx (x2) for sharing your AXperience, and rock on!

I'm glad you enjoyed Asayoru! Ai and Sakurin are both fantastic, but I'm quite partial to Maid Nico myself.

WYKYDTRON

Wow, this looks like a really fun (and exhausting) time! I've always wanted to go to a big con like this, but always felt like I'm not as into this stuff as others so I wouldn't really fit in, but I'd be willing to put up with almost anything to pose with my boy, The Dragon of Dojima Kazuma Kiryu! Also, why is Sally eatiing what appears to be an upside-down hedgehog filled with egg and veggies in that pic near the end? I've never seen such a mysterious food item...

pogituna

oh my goood such a fun trip! so many cosplayers and figures!!! I'm happy and also surprised that you got to meet kson in person :o its been busy lately so i wasnt able to attend the twitter space but ill listen to the archive soon!

Sounds like you had a blast! Which expo did you went to earlier this year again? Is this one even bigger than that? I miss big conventions like these. It's been a while since I've been to one, although that's good for my wallet lol. Surely you, too, submit to the darkness and got yourself a few small goods, no? There's no way you go into a huge convention and walk out without spending a single dime lol So you've personally met the goofiest Korean streamer eh. You three seems like you'd get along well lol. And there're Coco Ichibanya in the USA too? They might not make the best curry in the market, but nonetheless still a really decent one. In fact I also frequented the chain myself when I don't know what to eat. Also that's a huge Thai tea lol. Those tea usually have lots of sugar in them so you better be careful! 😁

Darklancer99

You two are so beautiful~! The long blue skirt really suits you Sally! And you two are so adorable next to the big bear~! It's been so long since I've been to AX, it's gotten so busy over the years and when I go to these cons I tend to want to do so many things. They always leave me tired, but so so satisfied at the same time

So cutee
