The End of an Era...One Year Later… The Final Episode is Here.

After nearly a full year of reacting to Attack on Titan, we’ve officially made it to the final episode — and wow… what a ride it’s been.

This show has done more than just entertain us — it’s completely changed how we view anime. From the storytelling to the characters to the emotions it pulled out of us, Attack on Titan might honestly be our favourite show of all time.

To all our amazing Patreon supporters — whether you’ve been with us since episode one or just joined recently — thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You helped make this journey possible, and we’re so grateful we got to experience this with you.

But while our AOT journey may be coming to an end… this is really just the beginning.

Next up: Jujutsu Kaisen (first episode out tomorrow!) — and we’re not stopping there. We’re ready to explore even more anime and dive into shows on Netflix and beyond. Big things are coming 👀

AOT might be over… but we’re only just getting started.

So excited to see your guy's thoughts on the ending!

Hippopi

Also been watching on YouTube since ep 1!

emily

Been (re)watching with you since the beginning and can’t believe it’s over!! Excited for the discussion after :)

Zee ☆

I love jjk but you guys I don’t think you’ll ever get over AOT 😭😭😭😭

shmaimeee

noooo i'm just about to leave for work 😫

It wasn't about the room available, it was that everyone had already breathed in the titan smoke, and only those who were immune (Ackermans and Titan shifters) wouldn't be turned into mindless titans.

A common misconception of that last scene with Eren and Armin is that Eren had no choice. He IS the villain. It's just what he said. He's a 'garden variety idiot'. Who got his hands on power. If Armin had the power, he would do something very different, because of the person he is. But everytime Eren tried to do something different, his emotions and views will always get the best of him, and it will always end up this way. Because he CHOSE to. Because that's who he is. Meaning: it's not that no matter what he tried, this was the only outcome. It's no matter what HE CHOSE to do, this would be the outcome. For example: if he was trasported back to a the time where they were in Marley and supposed to listen to their pitch on protecting Eldians, even if Eren went into that thinking, "this time I will try to listen and go along with Armin and try to figure out another way", when he hears that the organisation is only going to protect Eldians outside of Paradis, his anger WILL get the best of him, and he WILL choose to walk away, because Eren as a person, would never choose to sit and accept something he doesn't want. He doesn't have the intellect Armin does to try and figure out another way and be diplomatic. This idea that this is fate is so damaging to Eren as a character. Because he IS the villain. And the hero. And the anti-hero. He chose all of this. He WANTED this. He knows it's wrong but he still wanted it. He knows it's wrong but he doesn't regret it. He hates that he did it, but if time went back, he would still do the same thing. Because that's who he is, from the first episode of the first season. He is still the kid that got into fights with the bullies and hit the adults when he didn't get his way.

The Chosen One

Levi OVA 1 been broken for 2 weeks. ;o

Romy Gaming

Yes Eren was not being honest to Armin in the start. He did want to save Paradis and his friends, but these things came secondary. He wanted to destroy the outside world because he was disappointed it was just like Paradis. Eren didn’t want to or plan to be stopped, he was stopped

Romy Gaming

Exactly, if they would gotten Up on Falco they would have transformed into titans and that would have killed Levi Mikasa or maybe secretly injure them, and they wouldn’t be able to kill Eren.

Hope you guys do a rewatch of the series at some point, you guys will be surprised how much you pick up on the second watch

Eren's true goal was to achieve his view of freedom by wiping out 100% of humanity beyond the Walls. Ever since Armin showed him the book about the outside world, Eren had in his head the belief that the outside world was devoid of humanity, and therefore devoid of the cruelty and ignorance that bored and restricted him in his everyday life. When Eren discovered that humanity was alive and well beyond the Walls, and also that they were generally hostile towards Paradis, he couldn't cope with the fact that the freedom he had dreamt of and sought after didn't exist. To Eren, an outside world bereft of humans - hostile or otherwise - was freedom, and when given the means to make that dream a reality, he did it, despite knowing how atrocious of an act the Rumbling was. The world outside the Walls was just like the world inside, and that disappointed and infuriated Eren to no end. This is why when Eren breaks down to Ramzi in chapter 131, he says "It's to protect the island, but it's more than that. The reality of the world outside the Walls was nothing like Armin's book. When I discovered humanity existed beyond the Walls, I was so disappointed. So I made a wish to wipe it all away. I wanted this." (Not necessarily a 1:1 quote as it's from memory, but it's pretty accurate). A partial Rumbling would be enough to protect Paradis, but a 100% Rumbling is purely to fulfil Eren's vision of an empty world, which is freedom to him. Similarly, in the final chapter/episode, Eren constantly deflects and lies to Armin about his motives for the Rumbling. When Armin presses him about if the 100% Rumbing was necessary to make them heroes, Eren changes the subject to Ymir instead of answering. When it comes to Ymir, he says everything he did was to get to the point where Mikasa would free her, but he then admits that he doesn't know what she will do. It's hardly a master plan at all. The anime makes Eren's final confession far more explicit when Armin asks if the Rumbling was truly for him and their friends, and Eren says no, even though he thought it was. In truth, the 100% Rumbling was a selfish act by Eren to achieve the freedom of an empty world he wanted. Eren's selfishness is shown as far back as chapter 100, during his conversation with Reiner. Eren gets Reiner to admit that he went through with the Paradis Island Operation because of his selfish desire to be lauded as a hero, something which Reiner in the manga says is unrelated to his environment or his upbringing. After Reiner then breaks down and begs to be killed to end his guilt, Eren merely smiles and says "I knew it. We really are the same." This directly shows that Eren has come to terms with his selfishness and is suffering from a guilty conscience, just as Reiner has. That's why in chapter 133, en route to Fort Salta, Reiner is able to relate to Eren and even suggests he wants to be stopped so that he can be judged and unburdened. That's why Eren doesn't stop his friends from killing him; he can't bring himself to stop, but he knows he is doing something evil. Also remember chapter 121 where he specifically talks about scenery and see how his eyes and face goes. If there is a retcon then was he also retconned in the paths chapter lo. The reason his character is so interesting is that he’s full of contradictions. In the anime ending, Eren says "I'm an idiot. A garden variety idiot who got his hands on power." When given what is basically omnipotence, Eren still decided to kill the entire world because it didn't match up with his naive view of freedom, rather than earnestly trying for peace. It was never about rebuilding the Eldian Empire; it wasn't that he was out of options and so genocide was the last choice to defend Paradis; it wasn't that he would destroy the world to protect his friends: it wasn't all to free Ymir. It was to fulfil his selfish dream. Everything else was incidental. Eren used his power to try fulfil his selfish desire. He knows better, but he went ahead and did it anyway. That's how much of a slave to freedom he was. He was a slave to his dream, and that's ultimately why he is wrong and is defeated in the story. his disappointment was towards the mere existence of humanity outside the world. That’s what he says. That’s why he says he’s bigger piece of half assed shit than Reiner. Eren and Reiner both hiding their true and more selfish motivations behind the more “justifiable” ones. Reiner- say that it’s to save the world (a more noble cause) but then breakdown and cry while revealing that true reason he broke into the walls was because he wanted to be a hero. Eren- say that it’s because of Eldia (a more noble cause) but then breakdown and cry revealing that the true reason as to why he wanted to do the rumbling was because he was disappointed that it was not like what he saw in Armin’s book and wanted to reach that scenery (which he does when he regress to his childish state and says “ This is freedom”) but that doesn’t mean he didn’t care to protect paradis or his friends but they came secondary. It’s the same with Erwin, he wanted to prove his father theory right, but he did care about humanity and ultimately sacrificed his dream. Reiner did the same. The fact that Eren couldn’t let go of it shows why he’s antagonist. That’s why I love his scene in the end when he says “ I don’t know why I did it, I wanted to, I wanted to flatten the world. Then we see the flashback of Grisha saying him “ You are free” that’s him saying he doesn’t know why he had this innate desire of freedom not that he didn’t know why he did it. His main motivation for the rumbling being that he wanted to get rid of humanity outside the walls is the most logical reason for it, and it’s the one that doesn’t contradict some point or action he took along the way. Whenever push comes to shove he always says “ because I was born this way, or I have been like this since birth”. While environment and experiences did have impact on Eren, but the main reason it all came to this is because of his nature. Everyone has a devil inside of them, and Eren’s one wins. The reason I say he’s wrong his not only because of his motives, but his priorities. Tbh I believe that story made it clear that genocide cannot be the answer that heroes land on, and it cannot be the the solution that solves all overarching problems. The way for the story to end is to how it did. It needs to be bittersweet. When he said that he’s stupid, the not literally saying he’s stupid, but rather it’s the way of self loathing, because of his selfish reasons Hange died. it also fits with his character. He’s started off as a typical hero who slowly fell from grace. The story of Eren’s life is a sad one. He had the agency and in the end he cared for his freinds so he gave them freedoms that led to him being stopped. So yeah he didn’t really reduce his destructive nature and he was stopped. He wasn’t slave to future memores or fate, he was slave to himself and freedom, his nature. When Eren said he tried to change things, he is not being fully honest, when Ramzi is helpless, Eren saves him because of who he is. But his desire to start the rumbling overweights his guilt, and that’s what he meant he said he tried to change the memories by not trying to save Ramzi, but he realised as memories played out that, the memories is what he wanted to happen, which he later admitted to Ramzi and cried about it. So it’s not like Eren had no choice, but rather he wanted it and is slave to his nature and himself. He’s a villain. His friends besides Armin don’t know about his selfish reasons like no one knows about Erwin besides Levi, because surely they had selfish reasons but they both cared about their people and friends. Eren is a villian with positive qualities in the end of show and he’s selfish. He’s still a tragic character tho. That was a restriction he put on himself and it’s him acting entirely rude to his nature. Also Eren didn’t know he would be stopped until he touched founder Ymir, and started the rumbling. Before then he only knew that he would start the rumbling, but he didn’t know the outcome, until he initiated the rumbling because of combined powers of founders and attack titan, he was able to exist in past/present/future simultaneously. So had his friends not been able to stop him, he would have completed the rumbling and probably they would have died in the process of stopping him. Eren didn’t know his friends would survive before the rumbling, but he knew it after he got full control of founder. As for Miaksa and Eren, Eren always had a thing for Mikasa, but because of inferiority complex, it wasnt realised until s2 ep12, where he realises how Mikasa loves him, and from that moment Eren became very soft towards her, and vowed to wrap the scarf around her as many times as she want. But the time when Eren fully realised his feelings for Mikasa was after time skip. There are many moments, like cart scene, him staying in the memory of him and Mikasa, “ what am I to you scene, him asking Zeke if she truly loves her” and in last the cabin sequence. The reason Eren pulled Mikasa into paths in real time unlike his friends was because she is Ackerman and there immune to memory wiping thing. That sequence is what if scenario, what if they both ran away and left their motives and friends, so that would happen, and they were both not happy as Mikasa said ( I shouldn’t be here) the point to make this sequence was that they love each other, but their paths are separate, while Eren wants to live with Mikasa and his friends, but he also wants to do the rumbling because of his selfish and selfless reasons. That’s why their story is tragic ( I can go in detail, but I think that’s enough to understand) so when Eren says to forget about him, and move on, then Mikasa By wraping the scarf around herself and refusing to let it go of her love for Eren, Mikasa was able to show Ymir a real and genuine demonstration of love, one that didn't bound her, Eren asked her to get rid the scarf in Paths, as if he considered himself a burden to her, but by not leting it go and still being able to kill him she showed Ymir that what impriosioned her for 2000 years of servitude towards the idea of Fritz could never be love. The idea of Mikasa keeping the scarf is precisely a demostration of her main theme, the idea of being able to perceive beauty in a cruel world, she rejects the idea that Eren as just a burden, something he himself belived in her last moments with her, she wanted to protect the last remnant of her home, and yet had the courage to do the impossible choice at the end, and yet keeping a memento, a memory, of what he meant to her. Eren gave Ymir a choice, Armin showed her to live for little and precious moments, and mikasss freed her from her love for king Fritz. In the end she imagines if she had not saved him, and lived with her daughters, she should be happy to be born like Zeke, so that’s why in the end she vanishes and is finally freed. And no Eren and mikasss doesn’t parallel Ymir and king fritz, they are foil to them…. The opposite. As for the end, the war started again after 2000 years looking from the cyberpunk city, growth of tree and the name of ending song. Even if Eren had completed the rumbling, the paradis people would go build factions, different groups, and then discrimination, and conflict will start again. The finally scene and destruction is the final commentary on human nature. It is up to the survivors to give meaning to the lives lost along the path we travel towards our destination, and they were successful in that. This is the ideology of the scout regiment. This is the ideology of the story. The “Hereos” must reject the global extermination. I think it’s giving the message that nothing lasts forever whether no rumbling, 80 percent or 100. The signs of infighting within Paradis are there from the moment the rumbling begins. It’s shown that it would not survive its internal struggles. Pyxis, Erwin and Kiyomi make this point at least once each. After Eldian Empire was dismantled, the Marleyans grabbed hold of it and began oppressing their opponents in the same way. Then when Marley and Paradis fell and the Yeagerist came to power, Floch grabbed the hold of the reigns and began oppressing their opponents and even his own people who disagreed with him and said to change the “old ways” and gave them choice to submit or die even those who helped advancing the Paradis. I think what he wanted to tell with the ending was that it isn’t about Eren to failing to eradicate 100 percent. The point of sci fi city at the end was to show that the world moved past the rumbling but there will be some conflicts for humans to wage wars over. The story had expanded beyond the survival of humanity within the walls. Eren and Floch they are making the world smaller. ending all races and every external conflict is what the story and alliance rejects. Because it isn’t just about cycle of hatred but that we as people must keep trying to foster peaceful relations with each other. As for how peace was endured for so thousands years. It was Marley propaganda and constant use of titans that kept the hatred alive. In the end it’s Paradis who started it but also ended it. They not only killed Eren but they also take the credit of ending the Titan’s curse. The biggest reason peace didn’t work because of brainwashing, Marley’s propaganda and eldian being able to turn into Titan, along with that Zeke, Marley and hizuru blocked any chance at diplomacy. I am one of the believe that peace was always an option but people did it for their selfish goals so the chances were reduced. Which is not the case in the end. Eren did fuel the hate, but it also gives them more than 100 years of time to attempt peace talks. The world is traumatised after the rumbling, what remains is humanity is only content to have and now they wanted to rebuild. They have no stomach for war or more death and suffering. Armin and the Scouts are now the saviour of humanity and no longer threat to them because they can’t turn into titans, that was the meaning of secretary muller scene. The hate didn’t go away before because Marley kept it alive, the fact the bunch of eldians saved humanity from rumbling proves beyond any reasonable doubt they are not the devils that have been accused of being. Muller himself vowed to not make the same mistake again, and was also shown how both paradis and volunteers were starting to understand each another. Same thing with Gabi, Reiner magath etc. The pattern here is clear. Moreover if saviour of the world will negotiate with you it’s more than likely you will listen to their message of peace after all you owe them your life. The world mainly had problem with eldians because of the anti eldian propaganda, and now it’s over, nothing left now except resentment of the rumbling, but that alone will fade as time goes by and with alliance using all the goodwill they have managed to earn trying to push for peace and moving forward.

Seb I hope you were able to go down your YouTube rabbit hole! …the timeline is actually insane, there’s never a moment where you actually have to suspend your disbelief. Everything connects. I had to do some research after I finished the show too…and the explanations - it’s just unlike anything I’ve ever seen.

stephanie johnson

You guys were definitely one of if not the best reactors I’ve seen watch this series. Looking forward to the other shows you guys watch

Orazio Lentini

It would be fun to see you discuss all the things you learned/realized after watching YouTube videos explaining/pointing out things that you might have missed. Like one last video.

yob

ooo yeah it would cool seeing them freak out over all the Easter eggs and foreshadowing

Aussie☆racha☆stannn

loved the reaction. sad to see it end even though this my 10th time rewatching the anime. This was my first time watching it with other people. I enjoyed all the jokes, theories and discussions. Sad to see PEAK end.

Mateo Davison

It's crazy that the Episode 1 and the ending Eren opened his eyes and the first person he saw was Mikasa and then the ending his eyes was closed through out the rumbling he opened it one last time to see her. The beginning is the end.

Mateo Davison

Theres also a theory that Historias baby was erens. The symbolism of them bombing eren and historia giving birth. The transition of Mikasa holding erens head and Historia holding her babys head. The baby looks exactly like Erens mom. And he took his time to let historia know his plans.

Rylan Thesing

PLEASE READ: the whole scene with Eren and Mikasa at the cabin was erens talk with Mikasa just like his big talk with armin where he showed him all the places they always wanted to see together, but mikasas talk with Eren was Eren basically showing her an alternate reality where they ran away together, showing what would of happened if Mikasa answered differently to erens, “what am I to you?” So he showed her an alternate reality where she was able to live his remaining 4 years together in a cabin so she got to experience all of that because time doesn’t matter in the paths.

Alex Cerv (SickRiff)

Its been a wild ride lads. Im glad to have been here the whole time. I watch AoT reactions so I can get the feeling of watching it with fresh eyes again vicariously through the reactor. You guys have such great discussions and predictions that it reminds me of when I watched it for the first time with my friends. Best reaction channel. Im excited to see the next series!!! Triple takeover of JJK next!

Joseph

When the Attack on Titan manga ended, a lot of us East Asian fans—including myself—felt completely let down. It wasn’t until the anime adaptation was released that we finally got some closure. And honestly, Jujutsu Kaisen never come close.

Andrew

At some point in the future you should invite 1 or 2 people on the show who have never seen AoT and rewatch with them. I promise the second watch through is a totally different experience and it's awesome watching with someone who has never seen it

Hannah

At the end of the movie version "the last attack" that was released in theaters, there's an extra, extra end credits scene that might be fun for you guys to watch! fyi :)

Andrew

There's no true villain to the story. All sides go through arcs, the only true villain is hatred and the never ending cycle of war...Except Flock, that guy can be a villain. Screw that dude lmao Also, Mikasa clearly loved Eren throughout the entire show. She just grew up with him as a brother so her feelings were very complicated. Eren was just a shit head and was always just focused on being a suicidal maniac and took her for granted but once he got older he realized he was a dumbass. That's why they lived for years in the dream world to be able to spend time together before he died.

Andrew

The only thing is you CAN'T spoil anything or even answer any questions they have unless they have been answered already in the show and they just missed it. You never know when something small you say could give away something that hasn't happened yet and you want them to be as confused and shocked as you were on your first watch through

Felixican

I support this, a lot of other reactors have done a rewatch bringing in other people who have never seen it and also rewatching themselves, I agreee do not spoil anything only answer questions if they answer has already been given in the story

David

Glad to have watched since the beginning, my fav show oat not just anime. And great discussion and brkdown i think for the most party you guys got it. It can get a littke confusing and sometimes u gotta just allow it lmfao.

nplaza777

In the beginning they show ymir letting that pig go. King fritz wanted the person who let the pig go so he threatened the village and said he'd take an eye from everyone. It was in the episode when they give founding titan ymirs back story. When the story is told the people all point to ymir. They tell it in such a way as if ymir was wrongfully accused but come to find out she actually did it.

Romy Gaming

It’s canonically wrong. It was theory made by fans, but it doesn’t make sense in the story.

angel araya

Now that everything has been revealed, let me share my thoughts. But before, amazing reaction guys, love the discussions, this show is about exactly that, it makes you think, to the point you question your own morality, that is the magic of AOT. You were discussing about whether or not Eren was the villain, I think you got to this point too, but let me see if I can put it into better words. Eren is a villain not because particular decisions he made, he is the villain because his nature is evil, not in a “I hate everyone” kind of sense, but in that since birth, he has been the character that takes “justice” in his own hands, he is obsessed with freedom, and if someone threatens him, he will slaughter them in return, you see that in the story of how he saves Mikasa from the kidnapers, he is ruthless, even as a 5 year old kid, must 5 year old would never even think on killing two grown men, let alone in cold blood. That is Eren, it is his nature, he is a slave to his own nature, that what determined everything else, so he is not bad as the normal villain is bad, because they chose evil in a particular situation, he is bad, because that is his nature, that is way this was bound to happen, Eren’s nature is the main villain, even to Eren himself. About the flashbacks, it was never cleared up if this was happening during the moments we see the flashbacks, so when they were kids, or when they were older, or if it was just visual projections of the Paths. My take is that it is a mixture of both, we she them on places where they never went to, or scenes like the bloody ocean that never happened. Yet some moments seemed to be real, but in those cases my take is that, Path’s Eren kind of took over his younger self to explain this thing to Armin, it would not make sense that Eren knew all this all along, he showed learning, and surprise during the show, if he knew the future all the time he would have know about Marley, and about Annie or Reiner being titans, yet he was surprised to find out. He only started seeing pieces of the future after some time having the Attack Titan abilities, not even since the moment his dad gave him the power. And he only pieced the whole future after kissing Historia’s hand, from then on he knew, and that is when the internal struggle of Eren starts, not before. The other thing is that, the attack titan can see the future, but combine with the founding time becomes meaningless, it is not a limit anymore, and so Eren could’ve manipulated history for this outcome, even before he existed. In this regard my favorite theory is that Eren controlled or at least heavily manipulated all the past Attack Titan inheritors, that is why Kruger said that titan has a desire to fight for freedom, that is Eren’s will trough time, kind of what we see with King Fritz and the royale inheriting the founding titan, they were compelled by the King’s will, well I think the same happen with Eren and the Attack Titan inheritors, only instead of from the past, he was doing it from the future, given his titan’s abilities. That’s all, hope you found the clarifications useful and my theories entertaining.

angel araya

It's been a blast watching you do AOT from episode one, when you started, amazing moments when you were figuring out the catch phrase to start the videos with. Cheers 😂

Artemipsyche

I’ve watching this video too many times now lol. The funniest line: “I was surprised by the lack of deaths.” 🤭 80% and the main character isn’t enough lmao 🤣

Luke Fox

Eren is essentially illustrating the philosophical concept of compatibilism. Anyone confused on the ending or needing of clarification should research compatibility. Its basically a deterministic model of the universe that still allows for free will to exist. Everything occurs in a fixed manner because people will usually follow they own nature and are forced into only being able to make decisions that they can make. Historia puts a highlight on this when saying "Im sure this world is not the result of erens choices alone, but of all our choices" the fixed state of the AoT world is the culmination of everyone's choices. They put Eren in a position where he had little choice to do anything else, combining that with peoples nature that's why it turned out that way. Eren acknowledges in dawn of humanity that whether everything is fixed or not, it all played out to his will. Eren always ends up with the founding titan because zeke is compassionate enough to always want to help Eren before he enacts the euthanasia plan. So Eren actually can change the future but as Ben said earlier, the future he saw already considered the fact that Eren saw the future. Eren kept moving according to his desires and need to achieve his goal, that's why it always turns out the same way. The world is basically a painting. Its all one painting there is no redos its just the way everything always turns out. There may be minor loops or corrections along the way, as Bob Ross says, Happy little accidents turned into the painting, but at the end of the day the world has always been the same painting.

Nate

You guys missed the bigger picture. Here is AoT explained: It may seem that Eren became a villain to become a martyr, or that he became an idiot obsessed with power, but this is NOT the main message of the show. Eren needed to believe this for the real story to play out, which is unfortunate because it causes confusion, but genius once you finally understand it. Eren and Mikasa were merely subjects for the greater force at hand, which was Ymir. They were the perfect candidates for Ymir to finally break free. Eren was a slave to freedom and Mikasa was a slave to love, just like how Ymir was a slave of King Fritz and in love with him for millennia. Eren was always very extreme (just like Fritz ) as represented by the many flashbacks of young Eren brutally killing Mikasa’s kidnappers (which is shown every time Ymir peeks into Mikasa’s head with headaches). Ymir is drilling into Mikasa’s mind that Eren can be a little psycho, even though she loves him. This is another reason why Ymir chose Eren - so that he may be able to brutally commit the rumbling in the future. These conditions were perfect for Ymir to manipulate Eren and observe Mikasa, as their actions are a reflection of Ymir’s potential. Simply put: YMIR NEEDED TO FIND PROOF THAT SHE TOO COULD KILL AND LET GO OF THEIR ENSLAVERS TO BE FREE. This is why it’s so important for everyone to have their free will in the end. Eren said to the crew in the paths, “you are free”, but he was especially talking to Mikasa. Eren knew from what Ymir told him - that whatever Mikasa was going to do in the future was the most desirable outcome that he should move to (revealed in the Armin&Eren paths scene). This was also a convenient cover for Ymir to guide Eren, because Mikasa killing Eren was the ultimate proof that she needed to be free. This is why Ymir was watching and smiling behind Eren and Mikasa when she killed him. That was the moment Ymir had been yearning for from the start of Eren’s life. As Eren said himself, he was a slave to freedom from the very beginning, from leading his mom away from Bertholdt to activating the rumbling and doing everything to get killed by Mikasa. If you connect Eren-Fritz and Mikasa-Ymir as reflections of each other, It makes sense that it took a staggering 80% of the world’s population to push Mikasa over the edge and end a staggering 2000 years of love. After finally being set free, Ymir can die in peace, along with her titan creations and the paths. Eren becoming a villain so that enemies can come together and be heroes of the world was NOT the primary goal (which didn’t even come to much fruition in the end anyway). Ymir couldn’t care less about how the world ended up or unifying people together against a common enemy. She set up a scenario of world genocide, which is way worse than whatever benefits there may be for the world. Ethics was not the focus for her, but it was for the Scouts and Mikasa which she took advantage of to achieve her goal. There is so much supporting evidence for this analysis throughout the show, but this comment is already too long to include them. If you rewatch the show with this context, many questions that you have are cleared up and you will see that the story is all about the experiment of the godlike, enslaved, and depressing life of Ymir, who set up her world and people to see the result of the final moment: If Mikasa/Ymir could kill Eren/King Fritz and be free. There is a reason why they were called the “subjects” of Ymir. The more you understand the relationship between Eren and Ymir, the more you realize that it’s not about how good or bad Eren was. He is the ultimate villain because he was the ultimate victim and vice versa.

Kyo

You missed when Sasha showed up, in the back you can see how Cony started crying. You should do a video or things they may have missed on AOT, there is a lot videos on YouTube

J K

So that's why Armin was the storyteller of AOT:)

Fern Edwards

So happy to have watched you guys every episode since the start, seeing how your thoughts on anime changed, and attention to detail on the story changed, and I can see how truly moved you were during the final - huge congrats on completely the series. I have to say I don't think you will top AOT now. I made the mistake of watching it as my first anime too and it's just a fact you have to accept that no anime show (or any show) will come close now, but enjoy it all! I really recommend off camera watching a few youtube breakdowns of the final epsiode for details you may have missed, and discussions on the meaning and symbolism hidden in the show, discussion of the 'what might have been' scene with eren and mikasa at the farm if that day when eren asked how mikasa felt she had given him another answer besides just 'you're family', and how beautiful it was they got to spend years together in the paths in this alternative world befor eren died. Also I'd watch some analysis videos of the credit scenes and on ymir with how she saw Mikasa had the strength to kill the one she loved which is something Ymir could never do for 2,000 years which gave her the strength to 'move on' so to speak and be at peace and end the rule of titans (did you also pick up on how the headaches mikasa got all that time was ymir peaking into her head, in some way of understanding her and seeing their bitter love story play out)

My take and interpretation of the real reason why Eren attempted to commit genocide is exactly what he said to Ramzi in part 1 and what Armin was saying in their paths conversation, Eren was obsessed with freedom, to him freedom meant being able to escape the walls and explore a free unoccupied world togheter with his friends, upon learning that the world was not just only not theirs for the taking, but that they were also actively subjugated and oppressed (getting their freedom stolen) was too much for Eren to handle and it was such a dissapointment. He could not bare to stand his obsession and entire reason for living taken away from him, and in order to both punish the world for not being what he wanted and also to make it what he had dreamt of (free and unoccupied for him and his friends to make their own) he decided to start the rumbling, this is also amplified by he seeing it in memories of the future and attempting and failing to change the future he saw, believing that the rumbling was predetermined to happen. The interpretation that Ymir was pushing Eren to the point of Mikasa being able to ''escape'' her love by killing him showing Ymir that she too could escape her love of king Fritz would also fit into this as it highlights why Eren (and by extension Mikasa) where the exact people Ymir was escaping from, one of the themes of AOT is everyone being a slave to something, and the cycles of violence born of this ''slavery'' as well as individual people escaping or failing to escape their obsessiions. Also adult eren directed the smiling titan away from bertholdt, not kid eren. Paths exist outside of time and the founder is the coordinate for the paths so adult Eren can essentially access any point in time. it's been great to have been a part of this journey tho and I can't wait for JJK.

This was absolutely insane. I was in shock the whole movie. And they couldn’t catch a break it was like one thing after another. I am so glad Connie and all of them survived. I think the tree was never triglycerides just sitting there. I think it showed up at the perfect time for that person in need. To my understanding: Eren never reciprocated the love that he always wanted to give Mikasa was because he knew in the end that she was gonna be the one that would have to kill him, and if he had given her the love that he wanted to it would’ve made it even more harder or she wouldn’t have been able to kill him at all because of that so I think that’s why he never gave that to her and why he was constant trying to figure out when she would have her like awakening moment as a Ackerman. And then him knowing that they were going to stop him he knew it was going to be 80% of the population was going to be gone, which was perfect because then it left 20% which would level the Plainfield with who would be left for from the island so that then a war couldn’t break out in one side had more power over the island people so they can never be overpowered again and he could die knowing that he his friends would never be held hostage of their freedom again. Also I think when he talked about how he was an idiot no matter how much he tried to change the outcome, it always led back to this happening and him dying and taking out 80% of the population. He said he didn’t know the reason why he had to do it this way I think it was because this was Ymir’s ultimate game plan. She couldn’t do this herself when she was alive and when she got her Titan power, she still couldn’t overthrow the king and get away from that life. She still had no support no people behind her. It was just her with this new power, and for some reason, she felt love for him so much so that she put herself in front of that spear and died. When she went to like the other realm, she still did what he wanted. He wanted this power to continue on with his kids with his legacy under it and she provided that and she kept doing that for over 2000 years but in the end, it only trapped her even more and I think that’s why I like when Mikasa saw her and we saw a different image of if she would’ve just let that spear killed him, she could’ve stayed with her kids, and they could possibly had a different life. So I think it was like. Ymir had an ending that she truly wanted but never had the chance to do that and break the cycle her husband created. Eren had enough anger and resentment and resilience to start and go through with essentially ending humanity if it meant freedom for him and his people. He may have not wanted to do it this way from the start and that’s why he tried to change it but ultimately it fitted perfectly for his end game and Ymir’s too.
