thanks sm guys <3

Sara

Alice in borderland started as a manga in 2010, so you really cant compare to squid games. And BECAUSE it was a manga first, this live action wont be as realistic as squid games bc it was meant to be something totally unrealistic like many mangas are!! And like manga fashion, you learn about world building a lot slower, this show has 3 seasons so you really gotta be patient w getting answers😭

skylar

i understand you guys wanting to know the story right away because I'm the same way but we're seeing it like the main characters are experiencing it, they don't know where they are either they are just forced to play these games and i think that's why the games come before more story building, because we find the answers with them.

HannieSims

this show is def a slowburn it has 3 seasons so no questions are gonna be answered rn lol but yes sometimes it seems really unrealistic but it's adapted from a manga so that's why. it was a manga and anime first before a show so ofc its gonna be exaggerated but i promise it actually has such a great storyline and it is gets pretty deep.

SJ

This is a genuine question btw. I’m a Korean woman so English is not my first language. So I’m wondering why they always calling lady/woman as chick when they calling men as guy/man? Is it not disrespectful or normal things to say in Australia/English culture? And even when they are already in a relationship with a woman? I’m wondering it’s cultural difference? Please someone let me know. I love their personalities and jokes. But this questions always bother me😮😮 and if this is all my misunderstanding for everything, I’m apologizing🙂‍↕️

tara

my queeeen usagi,, i love all the batshit parkour she does

Leafsh3p

not sure if it helps but basically while calling someone a chick is less respectful than lady or woman its not exactly disrespectful. It's more so laid back and casual and something that's very normal nowadays. Male version would just be something like 'dude'. In short chick isn't bad but not quite something you wanna call any girl since it feels less proper than other options.

Leafsh3p

This show really is one you have to get used to not everything being realistic. It adds some annoyance sure in certain moments but its once again based of a concept that's far from how realistic squid game appears. But it does add and makes it possible for cooler and more intense games later on. Hope y'all give it an honest shot before assuming its bad or lacks depth!

Kirsten Smith

Hey, I'm Australian. It's not offensive to call women 'chicks'. Doesn't matter if the person is in a relationship or not. When I was in school over 10 years ago, even us girls used the word. I still do to this day, but its more uncommon these days to hear females use the word. Hope that helps! :)

Konner Cragun

I’ve seen season 1 and season 2. I have not watched season 3. I’m gonna watch it with yall. As a first reaction.

Konner Cragun

My Atlanta Falcons won on Sunday. We beat the commanders. Yall should put up a Bijan Robinson jersey clearly the best player in the NFL

Kirsten Smith

I didn't even notice them saying 'chicks' thats how normal and not offensive it is to us :)

Kirsten Smith

Death Game would be an awesome next watch!! Despite the name it's not death 'games' but I think yous would all enjoy it sooo much! You guys would have good conversations about it!!

SJ

Oh I see! Than It’s like ‘dude’ female version? It’s my first time hearing the word on this channel so I searched it google in Korea. And it doesn’t seem right. So I just wanted to know! Thank you for answering me☺️

SJ

Hii It helps me a lot! It was my first time hearing the word so I was curious😮 Thank you for answering me! Still learning English haha

peyton

AIB then Squid Game and JJK AND THEN AIB AGAIN?! we are soooo well fed 💛

SJ

Ohh now I really understand this is common things to say. Thank you again. And hope my question wasn’t rude or bothering anyone🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

Chota definitely knows the situation he's in. Also, I don't know if you catched it but it was revealed in episode 1 that he was still a virgin. He might’ve allowed it to happen because he's injured and likely not going to survive. At least, he didn't want to die a virgin. It was an opportunity for him as much as it was for her trying to manipulate him.

Yasminee

Well this show has no logic at all, way far away from realistic story like Squid Game but i feel like it can race with Squid Game about games and excitement. Surely you will like after few episodes 😂

Ben stay strong against those predictions and questions; you must prevail!

The question Ben had about the plot hole with lasers isn't correct. The lasers do go around the whole building, It's not just at the entrance. The laser starts from the entrance and makes a rectangle/square round the building going up. The lasers are not directly against the walls of the building, they are further away. That is why it makes sense that Usagi was not getting lasered. I don't know if that makes sense but there other scenes coming up which will show how it goes.

Yes, they knew that that specific door was the right one because the tagger shot the guy that was in front of this door from a distance, preventing him to get inside. If it were not the right door, the tagger would have not shot from far away : what's the point ? Their job was primarily to kill them and to prevent them from finding the right door, since that was the players' objective. One tagger would go after the players to stress them out to the point that they wouldn't be able to find the safe spot, and also to kill them (although killing them was probably not their main objective), and the other would be inside the safe spot to make sure no one gets inside the room. That's when Arisu thought that it was weird for the tagger to follow them, when they could have just waited in front of the door and shot them all. And the reason for that was that there was someone inside (as you saw it).

KeliTTries

I think the lasers are at the entrances and exits. So the guy stepped through an exit onto an exit ramp and the lasers were there. But the walls and pipes Usagi was climbing were not along an exit ramp or stairs, so lasers were likely not placed there.

I dropped AiB after the 1st episode of season 2. I was pushing myself to watch it because of the hype but could not get into it. Even after knowing the "twist" and reason behind the whole games, it felt silly and annoying and the characters like cardboard cutouts. While I had a LOT of problems with Squid Games, especially in the 2nd and 3rd season, it at least had some elements and some characters that I found interesting.

Fern Edwards

For a little bit of background - Alice in Borderland was a manga series first serialization in magazines: From November 2010 to March 2015 Squid Game was a script written 2008-2009 but the script was rejected by studios for years and the series wasn't produced and released until 2021 after Netflix picked it up. The writer didn't even have a season 2 or 3 ready, it was only the popularity of the 2021 show that made him go back to the drawing board. So Alice in Borderland tries to stay true to the original manga which people already knew in Japan. TheNetflix show is not identical to the manga, but it is a relatively faithful adaptation I am told, just with some differences like new games, added characters, and expanded plotlines e.g. Three of Clubs in the manga became the "Live or Die" game in the show. So while there may be similarities between AiB and SG, they are separate completely and don't share ideas. Ben is also right in saying the AiB show is more 'anime' like because it's from a japanese manga series, so it's less grounded in reality, so you just have to imagine this world and these characters where anything is possible :D

Fern Edwards

ps. Chota - I definately feel like the girl was being manipulative as Seb pointed out, there's clearly some link here to religious upbringing, guilt, trauma to do with his mum being used sexually by the cult. He's a virgin and might morally find this situation as something sinful and uncomfortable. Does he feel out of control in that situation? lots to unpick there but it was definately emotional and sexual violation and his trauma is very real

Kirsten Smith

Australian culture is very laid back and casual. So things that may be offensive in other English speaking countries are usually not as offensive or not offensive at all in Australia. Female version of dude is a great explanation. It's okay to say, but in more formal settings, refrain from using it as its very casual colloquial language :)

JS

Same, I dropped AiB in S2 when they were doing that maze game with the naked guy. Something about the pacing felt off. Never got back into it.

Kacie

It does give you a answer of how all of this happened and it makes sense it I love the ending

Itami

To explain the door thing. The tagger never bothered to shoot anyone remotely like that until that guy was at that specific door. And that guy never got the chance to check that door. Tagger was clearly protecting that specific door. Simple logic. And the white hair dude stayed in the top floor corner where he could see everyone and every door. He could monitor which doors had been opened and which hadnt without doing any work himself and also monitor where the tagger was at any given moment.

Itami

This show is literally live action of an anime. You cant criticize the action for being the way it is when you realize that it fits the genre it is meant for. You guys are watching a new genre so try approaching it with more of an open mind

elyca

Alice in Borderland is originally a manga, so pleeeease don't expect too much realism! It's very over the top in many parts, but if you keep your mind open, you will enjoy this show A LOT. It's one of my favorite series of all time and all 3 seasons are totally worth it!! It may be a little slow and VERY confusing, but it will take up pace and more and more questions will be answered the more you watch, so you need to watch at least 1 or 2 more episodes before you can really tell, if the series is boring or the story isn't fun or stuff like that. This episode also is kinda just a introduction to many characters that we will see throughout the season. i also think it's the most boring episode, but it is important for the characters and the whole "beach" storyline!

def

are we not getting episode 3?

lina

the 2nd season gets better after that episode

Chanele R

Don’t do my Ravens like that. Smh 🤦🏽‍♀️

Mikkeai8908

Crazy how he called it a mindless game when all the games involve using your mind to think outside of the box to beat it. Like how else would arisu figure out where the bomb was until he had to think of a way to figure out where it was? Lol. I just think about if i was in this world, i would’ve died in the first game right away because i don’t think on the level of those like arisu. It would take me until the last couple minutes of the game to catch on if i made it that far.

Pratiksha Majee

For some part I was even questioning if Chota was even consenting or not

komispo

yalls reaction to horse guy pulling out the machete had me dyinggg,, one thing abt this show, no matter how illogical or dramatic it is, you cant say its not entertaining lmfao
