ZINEB ZERDA

school bullying in south korea would blow your mind its such a real issue and sometimes in shows like this its not exagerrated at all and this show was inspired by a couple horrific school violence stories in SK

Booop

im so sorry to tell you that a lotttttt of this show is actually based on real stories

Bvcttyrt

I’m crying because I literally said the same thing

zayn

Back in 2006 in South Korea, there was a really disturbing bullying case at a middle school in a city called Cheongju. A girl was being bullied almost every day by a group of classmates, and it wasn’t just verbal stuff — it turned extremely violent. They beat her, took money from her, and at one point they used a hot hair iron to burn her arm and body right in front of other students. The burns were so severe that she had to stay in the hospital for over a month. Even worse, the bullies would pick at her healing wounds as a way to humiliate and punish her. The girl went through serious physical and psychological trauma. When the story came out, it shocked the whole country because people couldn’t believe school bullying could go that far. The police eventually got involved, and one of the bullies was arrested because the violence was considered extremely serious. That’s why when The Glory came out, many Koreans said those burning scenes weren’t pure fiction — they were inspired by real-life events.

Loly

That's scary😭😭

ADAM AMP

i want Bloodhound 😭

tara

the pronunciation for dong-eun would kind of be like 'dong-ooon', there's no 'y' or 'h' sound before the 'ooon' (like the oon in 'moon')

Princess Dotor

You are reacting to ALL OF MY FAVORITE KDRAMAS. I LOVE YOU GUYSSS!!!!!

floo

Yess I was waiting for this one thanku can't wait 💗 💓

gi⁷ ❦

OMG YAAAAAAASSSSS

hally0

This drama is great and the writing is phenomenal that you can easily miss hints and details! However. I really hope your next show is lighthearted. I would recommend Crash Landing On You (romance), Twinkling Watermelon (romance/family themes), and Twenty Five Twenty One (romance/coming of age). Please let's take a break from shows with dark/bullying themes

Alayna

YESSSS.

Alayna

Can we get a schedule? Like how often is release?

Ai .L

Wow, we get The Glory 1st episode before My Name season finale? That's so cruel 😭 Having said that, I think you guys will enjoy this show, especially knowing how observant you guys are with your detective skills.

gi⁷ ❦

thanks sm guyss, i’m so excited for the next ep

The abuse of power and the issue of hierarchies in Korea make bullying very common. This story is based on real facts, and you guys will probably see a lot of this portrayed in other dramas. Moreover, if you look at the lyrics of bts song 'Baepsae' (since it's the only group you follow) and the 'Dope' MV, they talk a lot about this—how adults or even young people with a lot of power abuse it, trampling over others with violence. Crimes against women are treated as nothing, victims are treated as the guilty ones, and feminism is almost considered a crime. In short, this drama has a very heavy context, but still a real context that unfortunately happens there every minute.

Violet Crush

Korea is a lot more safe now but before in 90s and early 2000s, korean and japan school bullying were sooo bad and thats what inspire these shows. Btw, this show is inspired from REAL CASE and the iron curling? its ACTUALLY happened. Tbh its heavy but it will get very satisfying and the ACTING IS TOP TIER. The actors and actress are all legends with spectacular acting. Squid game was good? nah this show is a MASTERPIECE.

The bullying depicted in this drama is based on real events. My Korean friends have shared that in many cases, real-life bullying is even more severe than what's shown.

key

you sure??? I’m Korean, and violence at that level of school bullying is absolutely not common in Korea either. Something like that would make the news, and in fact it *did* appear in newspapers and shocked the general public. That’s why the writer drew from that incident. Of course, there are also outcasts in Korea who don’t adapt well to society, but usually they’re just left alone rather than being actively bullied. School violence keeps appearing in dramas because it’s provocative and grabs people’s attention. In an ordinary, uneventful school life, there aren’t many things that are that sensational anyway. Honestly, I’m tired of how school bullying has become a staple theme in Korean school dramas. It feels overused and cliché now. I wish writers would put more thought into it and make Korean school dramas interesting with other creative and diverse themes, instead of always relying on school violence. If other writers don’t feel confident that they can handle the theme of school violence better than this drama did.

raguoc00

Welcome to 2026! Hope it’s the year of the TripleTake Kdrama takeover

Raven ⁷

Some of this show is based on true events. A YouTube channel podcast called Rotten Mango that goes into detail of it and the bullying in South Korea. This also one of my top 5 favorite shows

Violet Crush

Korea is lot safer now but in 90s and early 2000s, these bullying was so common. There were even news reporting on the increase rise of bullying during those era and some with suicides. Who cares about it being "cliche", we need to see this as REALITY for people to LEARN. There are LOT MORE kdrama with other diverse theme involving school. Romance, studying, power, friendship and many more. This is just one of them. If you dislike it, simply skip it. Provocative is better to get people learn. As someone that used to be bullied, idgaf about cliche, we need these kind of drama.

eva

oh youre in fir a RIDE. really excited for this

eun플리

Please Finally get some board with names and pictures of characters, pin it next to the TV, so it's right in front of you

eun플리

20:38 Ben's pronunciation was perfect 👌 dong-eun, yon-jin

Are you a taco

Teachers up until the early 00’s were allowed to use physical actions for discipline to keep the students in line. Now it’s been banned but that’s why the home room teacher (not vice principal) had no hesitation to hit dong-eun.

Are you a taco

Not to this extent though. It was not common. That’s why they can make it into a show. Because they know that bullying instances like this DID happen but were rare.

Are you a taco

Charlie saying “eye for both eyes” YOU DONT EVEN KNOW HOW THIS WILL BE IMPORTANT LATER

Hhanna

You should watch rotten mango, she explain it. The glory is base on a real story

eun플리

Please pay very close attention to the subtitles, everything is connected

Stephanie

Guys pay close attention because this is some good stuff. Oh am jealous of people who get to watch this for the first time

Adilah

Never clicked so fast !!!

1osaki

yess its so good I actually just watched for the first time last week and had the time of my life

Princess

its a global issue, every country has its skeletons. rn gun violence in schools in america is huge

Mimi

FINALLY IM SEATED

Mimi

From my understanding school bullying was a huge thing in the early 2000-10s of South Korea. Now that it’s being addressed there have been a long of kdramas released to talk about it. That’s why a lot of them have school bullying involved. This series is based on a mix of real life bullying cases

Mimi

Also please pay attention to EVERYTHING. There are clues everywhere

Andrea C

since this is a long drama with 16 episodes maybe u guys could do 2 episodes a week or 2 in 1?? bc 16 weeks is way too long

@Kivo.

Y00OooOo0

chanel

the bullying really happened its a true story that happend long ago!!! anyways so happy yall started this

Stephanie

Right 2in 1 would be great

Stephanie

Like others are saying can you guys please post more than once a week or when you record and post do a 2 in 1 because the episodes is really long, pretty please 😩😩

Yoongiless

just fyi, thi drama is based off of a REAL story and is NOT EXAGGERATED at all

kiwi

The bullying is actually a true story (or atleast partially) rotten mango has a video on it you could watch!

Sunny

This was a great reaction guys! I truly don’t think y’all are ready for this show, so buckle up! Haha *Side note: I love that you started as BTS newbies and now you recognize BTS coffee orders while watching other shows. Full blown ARMY. 😂

sm220900

guys the glory is based on a TRUE STORY (you can look it up) and a lot of the bulling cases in south korea are like nothing you have ever heard before. the school violence in south korea is horrendous.

Margi

Sadly the bullying in this series is based of a real story, even the curling iron part :(

sm220900

I wish they chose a romcom

Drum Clean

Your reactions are great and make (re)watching so much fun - thank you! FYI it is salt, not rice, that is thrown at the uber-b**ch. Shamans believe that it rids one of evil spirits... The mother's obsession with shamanism is intricately linked to the storyline. Like some other people have said, there are a lot of hidden clues and everything evetually gets tied up neatly - you will have many moments of "O.M.G. - do you remember such-and-such in one of the previous episodes... this is why/what happened!" etc. Enjoy!

Fern Edwards

Yess I remember this being an influence behind the show!

Ahstay

this is an amazing show, but you guys NEED to throw in a lighthearted show like Twinkling Watermelon/Business Proposal/Lovely Runner at some point, take a break from all this darkness

Adilah

Guys the bullying is so crazy in South Korea, the government is actually looking into student records currently to see if students who are applying to universities have bullying history and if so they now get rejected. They’re finally taking action and by doing this the amount of bullying is decreasing

floo

This drama is masterpiece, also writed by one of the most famous korean kdrama writer. Dialogue, cinematic, acting are all amazing

gaby

love this but maybe two a week would be better this is a long show

Eli St John (Ellie) 🖤

HOLYSHIT LET’S GOOOOO! More trauma for you but this is super GOATED. Lol now you need a Romcom too so it balances out. Lol

Alayna

PLEASE DO TWICE A WEEK. ITS TOO LONG OF A SERIES TO DRAG THIS OUT 16 WEEKS

KeliTTries

O.M.G. IT'S HAPPENINGGGGGG. I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE. And Goated on Seb for rewatching MyName with fam - when it first came out I watched it with my mom, who always refuses to watch my Kdramas, and she wouldn't let me stop it until the episodes ran out. I think we watched it all in like two days.

kiwi

2006 Cheongju curling iron case !

Chloe

Are you kidding me.. they should've done bloodhounds first. It's going to take them forever to finish this.

Saha

I've never seen this so I'll be watching with you guys

Ale

every single actor in this show deserves an oscar. like what a show, its sooo crazy. need episode 2 rn. I promise it will get better and crazier as the episodes go by.

yerii

school violence is a huge problem in korea :( even the curling iron scene comes from a true incident

Mya

The Glory is based on a real story, 2006 Cheongju case. The revenge plot is for the series but the girl being horribly bullied/tortured with a curling iron is all true; and her name is Pyo Yerim.

sleepingatlast

School violence to the extent that’s shown in kdramas isn’t common nor a norm in South Korea. However, such cases do occur and I think the Glory does a great job exposing the impact and lasting trauma on victims.

Mayma

Thank you guys for watching this masterpiece!! Sadly It is based on a true bullying story :(

Violet Crush

bruh they followed majority and majority want the glory go watch something else if you dont like it

kiwi

they are about to finish my name?

Rin

omg yall should watch Money Heist: Korea

a k

BaldwinIV

You will not be disappointed!!

Cortis1402

christina8101 .

After this Kdrama you guys should watch Flower of Evil. It’s an amazing show

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

Just finish rewatching this show on another reaction channel only to start again with you. So here we go again 🤣

CuteBean

They don't call it bullying in South Korea, they call it school violence. That alone tells you how bad the bullying is there.

gabi 🦢

i know this might be a bit different to what people are suggesting but i recommend strangers from hell too if we stay on this kdrama grind! it’s a psychological horror, i would love to see your guys’ reactions to it!

hoeluna

I'm starting to watch for the first time this show with uuu guys, excited 🤪

yessirrrr

you will be shocked to hear that the curling iron scene is based off some real life school violent events that happened in Korea. Korea takes school violence very seriously due to the high rates of violence between the youth and that's why celebrities or idols in Korea who have even a "alleged" or even a "not confirmed but rumour" about school violence gets black listed straight away and thrown out of the company or group because that's how big the issue is in Korea.

Michaela

😂 I was really hoping you guys would do something light-hearted like Business Proposal to give you a change of pace but you dived right into another amazing but incredibly dark show! Lol The Glory is so good. I can't wait for your reactions!

CHOI

YES YOU RIGHT 😊

CHOI

Yesssss Please

Helen

I can’t wait for the next episode 🤩

Sabrina K

YESSSSS love love love that show

Isabella

Thank you guys!! You're gonna love this show!

gabi 🦢

yes me too! i only just recently watched it and it became one of my favourites instantly and my obsession w lee dong wook is through the roof😩😩

gabi 🦢

oh my god i forgot to add!! in strangers from hell the main character is 333 from squid game, the other main character is also a really well known actor, haha just remembered

lexie

in korea if minors commit crimes like this, they rarely ever go to jail bc theres no law that punishes minors in korea like in the US. as long as ur a minor even if u kill someone, u dont go to jail. thats why bullying is such a big issue in korea and why they dont care about what they do to other kids. they care more about public image so they keep it secret wt money. but if it gets out then thats how they get taken down, banned from places/media tv etc. the rich always win in korea. its sick

Bangchansrailroad

I was so sick to my stomach and shocked when I watched this and found out it was based on true events. I got my aunty to watch it and she loved it too.
