I think u guys all make a good point, its just different people liking different genres. Yes, while it would have been an easier watch to know what was going on throughout the entire series, I personally think it kept me interested because of the strength of the emotional rollercoaster like questioning 'why are they doing this to us' and taking us along with the characters emotions and then when the plot drops at the end of s2 its a bigger shock which makes a bigger impact. I guess its all up to the watcher, if you get bored of questioning whats going on thats fine its just not for you, but for me the way this show was made is a masterpiece :))

I think it’s different for every person, for me, not knowing where we are for 2 seasons is what kept me intrigued the whole time. I personally think AIB is a masterpiece when it comes to vibes and aesthetics.

Hannah

I actually like both ways. Knowing where we are and not knowing are both intriguing to me, and they each work as the story progresses. Now we’ll get to see the story from a different perspective. This season’s focus is hope and despair, as we saw in the trailer. Anyhowww, incredible games on the way, y’all! Can’t wait! 🥳

Just remembered and want to tell you (not a spoiler) - the first game of the season that we’re about to watch, the one in the shrine, is actually the original manga’s first game. At the time, I think they didn’t have the budget for it, which is why it’s different in the series. It’ll be great to see something straight from the original manga! 🫶

Hannah

*first game in Borderlands I meant. Because obv Ryuji played the Old Maid card game.

Hannah

(Yes me again, hi!) A couple of answers without spoiling anything: In the Old Maid game, seven bodies were found, including the facilitator. After the game, we saw Banda switching into that guy’s body and talking to Ryuji in real life. The most plausible explanation is that he used the body, and when he left it, the original owner died. That said, it still might not fully make sense, even if Banda was a gamemaker of this face-card like we saw in season 2. How did he end up in the real world? I think it ties into this season’s Joker theme. The Joker’s nature is complex, such as becoming someone else, so it’s probably meant to be somewhat metaphorical. Still, we shouldn’t forget that the show is a sci-fi fantasy. But I like how they are leaning into the mysteries of consciousness and NDEs; it makes things feel more grounded, at least to know what’s going on to a certain extent. And very Inception-like, as Seb said. I love that movie. Also, just to clarify: it’s been five years since Ryuji’s student died, not since the meteorite explosion. Hope this was helpful!! 💕 (I guess you can tell I’m so hyped about this 😭 I really did my research well for you guys 🫶)
