2026-09-21 12:00 The death note didn’t technically corrupt him because I feel like he was always kind of like that. It was more the circumstances that brought that side of him out and gave him the means to pursue his goals. But I do agree that power in general can corrupt people. I just think it’s important not to blame the death note entirely, because it’s also about light as a person. Someone else could’ve found the book and after their first kill completely freak out and given it back to ryuk 😭 but ofcc light wouldn’t😂

Light is the smartest and the most evil person in anime. Also very charming. I like him a lot. He is known as the most notorious serial killer in anime.

Yashu

Im not gonna specifiy which one im talking about to not spoil, but some great prediction's/theories have been said in these episode, you guys actually understand this show pretty well

Kira🤪

We always say the first victim of the Death Note was Light Yagami himself.

Kira🤪

100%. Because Light was already bored and disgusted with this world so when given the power to do something about it he was susceptible to taking that path even though he was sacrificing his innocence and walking a dark path. Honestly, it’s not the same, but quite similar to Geto from JJK. In the fact that they were good and wanted to provide justice with light wanting to be. A police officer like his dad and Geto being a jujutsu Sorcerer. Whilst Geto had a more personal matter occur for him to switch, it was the presentation of a more absolute solution by killing the ‘bad weeds’ that completely changed them and makes them villains.

Kira🤪

Honestly I enjoy villains like this where it’s the state of the world and their disgust with it that makes that ultimately leads them down their path.

Other then the fact that L is the worlds top detective it’s said in the manga that he invested in bitcoin when he was a child and has billions of dollars he is a multi billionaire and his full network is estimated to be 20-100 billion usd

This isn’t just “the multiverse” or “what if Light were a good guy.” What we’re seeing is actually one of the show’s central premises and a universal truth: power corrupts. Light without his memories is Light before the Death Note corrupted him. The show may not spend much time on that transition, but after killing his second victim (the biker who was assaulting a woman in the street) Light is distraught. It shakes him. He feels terrible about having killed someone. But that’s when the justifications begin: “But now I can make the world a better place,” “Who else could do this?” And that’s the moment Kira is born. Another scene that explores this is when Light and L are talking to Mr. Yagami in the hospital. Mr. Yagami tells them he’s been thinking about Kira and has come to believe that Kira himself isn’t the evil: the power to kill is. L even says that if Kira really is an ordinary person who acquired that power, then he’s a deeply unfortunate individual. The show is trying to tell us that Light, for all his intelligence and his rigid sense of morality, became corrupt when given unlimited power. It’s suggesting that, in all likelihood, any of us would be corrupted too. It’s the same argument Socrates makes in The Republic.

LMAO i was gonna say the same thing too!!!

Yeah and with the biker scene he said something along the lines of "I've always thought this way" about how it'd be better if we got rid of criminals/bad people. So the seed was already there and then yeah, like you say, power corrupts. Which is different from the Death Note magically turning him evil, which would be super boring imo, and it's an important distinction. Light is actually trying to use the "It wasn't me, it was the death note! It made me evil" because it removes responsibility from him. We know that's not the case though.
