I like how this episode compares having your soul removed to being clinically psychopathic, with the same idea that those afflicted who have a more violent, traumatic upbringing are more likely to commit emotionally detached violence as adults than those whose upbringing was sheltered. Sydney was an abuse victim; Jenna's grandmother was super religious, strict, and inferrably looked down on her granddaughter's non-heterosexuality. Len resented no one. - 'Occasionally I'll be quirky' - Homer Simpson

There was never an iota of indication that Jenna's grandmother was homophobic or intolerant. That's projection or assumption on your part.

I agree. I liked both Len as a character and the actor who portrayed him.

It's not projection or assumption. It's inference, hence the word 'inferrably'. That means 'that's what I took from it'. If I felt the show had themselves connected the dots between 'I like girls', 'my grandmother is super religious' and 'I have fantasised about killing her', I would have used the word 'implicitly'. For me, those three statements are quite a bit more than an iota.
