This episode was written by David Slack... who was admittedly, and happily, the biggest Root/Shaw shipper on the writing staff. Slack said his headcannon was that they'd been hooking up, no strings attached, since the CIA safe house. But Root's feelings are obvious. I certainly appreciate his headcannon. The Marburg Virus would make Covid-19 look like a touch of hay fever. The average mortality rate of Marburg is about 50%. But can be a little less or upwards of 90%. At its worst, between 2020-2022, Covid's average mortality was 5% or less.
