Love where your mind went with Samaritan peeps getting to watch Shoot fanfic play out everyday. Such an amazing episode. 6,741 simulations... and they can't break Shaw. When you rewatch... you notice more of how everything is just slightly off from the jump. Like the quips are all clunkers... AI can't can't capture Team Machine's real wryness. And Reese and Finch especially don't come across as quite themselves. While the simulations are trying to lead Shaw... her thoughts and feelings and actions are hers. Those are her real feelings for Root. That part is beautiful and tragic... Root is her safe place. And that Shaw has likely offed herself over 6,000 times. Jeebus. So I still consider this episode to be entirely valid in regards to Root and Shaw. We KNOW how Root has always felt. Now we see it from inside Shaw's mind.

Notice how this episode has : - No Machine PoV - No Fusco (Samaritan doesn't know about him) - Not a even single mention of the subway - Not one scene where Sameen isn't present I really love all the subtle tells throughout that something feels "off". Most characters from Team Machine don't act exactly how they would, there are quite a plot points that are developped much too quickly. Even the wild sex scene (as satisfying as it is) is quite unexpected in this show and participates to the episode feeling "off".

The very wildness of the sex scene feels like it was written by an AI with a poor grasp of the importance of Root and Shaw's emotional love for each other to their biological attraction. Makes sense now.
