Funny enough, hubby and I started late watching S5, and all during the first episode we couldn't figure anything out. Who was this Derek kid? Why were they in the Squak? Why is Vecna taking all these children? Who is Dr. Kay? What is going on? Where was Holly? Turns out we accidentally watched Ep 4 BEFORE 1-3. Dummy us. I think you guys were way too hard on Delightful Derek at the beginning. Derek's behavior is EXACTLY what a kidnapped kid should do. You are looking at it from the perspective of knowing the background. He isn't (or wasn't). So his actions were actually correct. Jake is an absolute hoot & so sweet. There are golf cart interviews he did with various cast members, taking them to lunch on set and interviewing them From the end of S4 I knew they were going to have to bring Kali/8 back to help, so that reveal didn't surprise me.
