Was a pleasure riding along with you for this. I love this series and I'm glad you gave it a shot. It's just great television.

Reese is the ultimate Finch Stan I love that for him. As much as I love Reese, that was a beautiful death and very fitting. Reese said in season 2 he wasn't doing it without him. Headconnon is Fusco absolutely joined Shaw and her dog bear for the new main team. Finch/Grace endgame was so heartwarming and deserved not just for Finch but us fans who have had our hearts ripped out several times along the way. 10/10 finale. But IMDB has it at 9.8 Either way this one is pretty widely loved. ETA: I'm so glad you got to experience this wildly underrated fantastic show and gave us great reactions along the way.

I knew you’d like this show and I also knew I’d enjoy your reactions. It’s the perfect show to react to with its good writing and storytelling but also how you can explore about things like artificial intelligence and those sort of debates. As expected you delivered on that. I have no issues recommending this show because it really sticks the landing. I didn’t know it was 10 years old this year. I watched this episode in real time and still quote the ‘everyone dies alone…’ speech to this day.

Something that came to me some time after watching the finale, that just drives home the... poetic justice, I suppose, of Reese's death, and the way he had been living on borrowed time. He was originally supposed to die in Ordos, killed by a missile, on a rooftop, along with a laptop containing code from the Machine, having betrayed/been betrayed by his partner. Now, today, he dies in New York... killed by a missile, on a rooftop, along with a laptop containing the code of the Machine. Saving the life of his best friend. God, this finale was perfect.

It's been an absolute joy to watch you fall in love with POI... and regard it so highly. It is an underated gem that deserves more recognition. So ahead of its time... and it only gets more relevant. The characters, the writing, the music... it's all woven together so beautifully. And there were so many emotionally satisfying moments in this Finale. Harold's voice catching when he called John a good friend. Shaw saying... "Is this the guy who killed you? Killed her, I mean." 'Root' telling Shaw that she's an arrow. The visual of 'Root' / the Machine's hand on John's shoulder in his final moments. John going out blazing. Harold going to Grace. Shaw ending that guy to avenge Root, picking up Bear, and answering the phone = perfection. I don't know if it's fact... but it's been said that Shaw is wearing one of Root's leather jackets in the end. I believe it. And... the underlying comfort in "everyone dies alone"... feels like a thoughtfully expanded echo on Lost's "Live together, Die alone" mantra. I'm glad that you at least have 'Lost' now as a bit of familiar company.

This finale is definitely the best one I've seen for an american series. Of course I haven't watched every single one of those, but endings tend to be rather bad sadly for great shows, and Person of Interest did NOT fall into that trend. They stuck the landing and then more. And you're absolutely right ! The message we hear from the beginning of season 5 is the old Machine passing down what it learned to the new copy at the end ! I had personally missed it the first time because I was too emotional, so well done for noticing that.

I think a lot of people say "Season 1 is the worst" or that it's a bit of a slog to get through to convince others to actually watch and give the show a chance, because some people simply dismiss anything procedural. One of my favorite anime, Kekkai Sensen, also has a procedural/episodic format with an overarching plot that slowly advances, and despite being INCREDIBLE, original and refreshing in everything it does, people just dismiss it for being episodic. But I agree with you, season 1 is already really good. It's basically amongst the best procedurals you could find, but with even more backstory, world-building and themes. It's just that when you finish the whole show, season 1 is objectively the "least good", but it doesn't mean it's bad.

I so agree with this. I actually like procedurals (especially medical shows, which I consider a form of procedural) when the characters are engrossing and the cases aren't always so cut and dry. Season 1 numbers are often interesting (and include the likes of Zoe and Elias) and watching Finch, Reese , Fusco and Carter learning to trust each other is very engrossing to watch. The writing is still excellent, they're just not going high concept yet. I think season 1 is great on rewatch (and if it had stayed procedural, ironically, I think CBS has would've treated it differently and it probably would get rerun to the level of shows like Bones, Castle and other procedurals do.) I get annoyed when I've seen people say season 1 is largely something new viewers can skip. Aside from it still being good quality I don't think you could fully appreciate the relationships and growth (which this finale fully paid off on) if you didn't see the early years and foundation season 1 lays out for all of them. This is one of the best shows ever made so, like you said it's not bad. The weakest season is still better than most TV.

Oh that link with John's death and how he was "meant" to die. .... I did not notice that!!!!!

What a show man!! How this series doesn't get talked about as much as Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones is beyond me... what a masterpiece!! Legit the GREATEST Tv show I've ever watched.

I've only checked out the pilot of BB so I am not sure how the rest follows (yet) but having seen all of Game of Thrones, this show is eons better than that imo
