One of my faves! Such a perfect, tense premise. And all of those little Mulder and Scully moments made my heart swell <3

Chris Moffit

Love this episode, still one of my favorites. I always think a lot about the Scully and Mulder dynamic here and how it's so clear Scully is worried for Mulder but doesn't step in the way of him doing things his way and vice versa. They let each other do the work that they fixate on in the way they believe is best despite their worry for the other person. They are both people who need to throw themselves into work to really keep feelings from coming to the surface despite work sometimes causing those feelings. And Scully immediately going after Mulder in the end is great! The scene that always gets me in this episode is how quick Mulder is to turn the gun on himself vs Scully. Really shows how deeply Mulder cares for Scully while also addressing (I believe) the deep hatred he has of himself. Scully being skeptical but someone who still feels the need to help others no matter if she believes in something or not is also shown here, with the cop listening on the phone. She's so determined to help even if she's skeptical! And she's not someone who denies proof when it's to a point of being undeniable (most times). It's a theme in a couple episodes of Mulder and Scully 'having the strengths of each others beliefs' so them believing in each other is an important point in the series to me. Bonus end fun fact: Vince Gilligan, then creator of Breaking Bad and Pluribus wrote this episode and others that a lot of people enjoy so I can't wait for you to see them! Sorry for the paragraph, I always feel like I have a lot to say about this show xD
