I love the Mulder and Scully conversation here! The way they both come at things from different points of view but still trust each other enough to be honest (or as honest as Mulder allows himself to be). It highlights their communication differences but I think shows that theirs still an honest undercurrent to what their discussing with each other. They've also seen each other at their most vulnerable and shown their care through action (which is what Mulder tends to favor). Gillian Anderson herself wore a shirt that was the acronym 'COTR' which stands for 'conversation on the rock' at a con, so it seems like a scene she also enjoys. I think I see a lot of people (I do include myself in this sometimes) see Mulder's reaction as him being dismissive of the loss of Scully's dog but Mulder and Scully very much share a workaholic mindset, whatever that work is, so I've always seen it as Mulder including her in that work as a way of helping her. It's not healthy but hey, neither are Scully and Mulder as characters. They both share a very conflict/feeling averse attitude but do actually enjoy the light conflicts they have with each other. That's what I love about them and what make them both such interesting characters! They very heavily parallel one another in that way.
