💈Explaining the Weekly Character Poll 💈 (Patreon)
Content
I want to make a quick clarification / reminder of how the weekly character system voting system works.
Though I've put at the bottom of every Weekly Character's post that you must be a CURRENT members, I don't think a lot of people looked at them.
So, I'm going to clearly explains this with real examples from last week poll.
You can ignore all the numbers since they're not important. They're just the amount that was charged and date the person join. All email and identifications has been blanked out. There is no credit card information or any sensitive information, so you don't have to worry. That is completely manage by Patreon, I have no jurisdiction for those information.
This is the a small sample from a large list of members. (There are other tiers, and the list is extremely long, so I'm just using these as my examples).
So, this shows 4 members with different tiers. I will explains each of these member status in the order they are shown, from top to bottom.
This is an active monthly tier - "Lewd Machine", each vote(s) from this tier is counts as 3 votes.
This member use to be a monthly tier - "Lewd Machine", but then upgraded to "Lewd Pioneers 🩷", which give them extra perks, but their individual vote(s) will still be counted as 3.
Here we see a member that has an ACTIVE subscription status and they have paid for this month, but have canceled their subscription before the duration ended.
When this happen, they can still access to all the posts and Discord private channels as if they're that tier. The only different is that their Member's Status will be listed as Free, instead of the tier they're actually in.
And since their status is listed as Free, their vote(s) for the poll will be counted as 0 instead of the correct number.
This is a free member from the beginning.
As you can see, the status of the member that cancel their subscription early and Free member are listed the same under Patreon's CSV.
Therefore, there is no way to add the correct weights to their vote(s), when I count the votes at the end of every week.
I count up the votes every week using a short python script that I wrote. It cross reference the Patreon's CSV list with every members on the page (Paid and Free), with the selection they choose from the voting CSV. And base on their tier, it will correctly add up the amount of votes to determine the winners.
Maybe I wasn't clear enough with the passage at the end of every poll, or simply because people don't know. But the reason I'm making this post is because I see that nearly 25% of votes aren't being counted.
As you can see, there are quite a few votes that wasn't counted. Those votes might have changed the outcome, depending the weight of the tier.
I want to bring this to people attention, especially those who are interested in the vote, but have cancel their subscription early, before the reward period ended.
I know that some people are very careful with their money, myself included. I do this with Netflix all the time. Only paid for the month with movie that I'm interested in then cancel immediately so I don't forget.
This doesn't effect the people that cancel and aren't interested in the the voting process, since they're able to access everything normally.
This only effects the people that are taking part in the voting process, but have downgraded their subscription midway.
I hope I've explained everything clearly. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message directly on there or on Discord.
Thank you and have a great day 🤙
