Sometimes I get questions about what hardware / software I run. Here are my current hardware specs and also our software setup for the team. The bulk of our rendering jobs for animation is sent to our rendering farm.

For reference, rendering one 1080p frame currently takes around 20mins per GPU. 10 minutes of animation is around 18,000 frames (10 x 60 x 30fps), but with draft renders and cam tests the overall frame count per 10mins is more like 60,000 frames.

Impressive. And though I don’t know anything about rendering I know that just having the HW does not help if SW is not prepared for it. So Maya really supports this strong parallel computing task. Would professional GPU cards like NVIDIAs Tesla further improve the render time? Just for curiosity at 4K€ per Tesla it is a frigging expensive product.

iPhantom!

What a great angle -- Cerene's bout to get slammed =))

Would now be an appropriate time to ask for a bump up to 60fps? I'd sacrifice quality for higher frames. 720p at 60fps.

kaitena

wow, nice big boobs

Space Banker

So it takes around 21 days to render 10 minutes of material at 1080p30fps?

Llama

Always good to see any update. So crazy hot, I can't wait to see Cerene, Lanessa and Sophia pound each other and get pounded.

Dorio

Pink hair Sophia would be new trend after Bald Cerene. ;D

Should try QUADRO PROFESSIONAL GRAPHICS CARDS it's very expensive but really faster and better for graphic work.

ANIMENIAC

.................... WOW!

No amount of "interpolation" is going to make it look fresher. 720p is barely noticeable in terms of quality compared to 1080p, and if it's bogging down render time or causing other technical hangups, then just fix the hangup. It's sheer logic.

purely price/ performance 1070 and 1080s are the best value, teslas are theoretically more stable and last longer, but we recycle too often for it to be that useful to us... and we use special software for distributed background rendering

Affect3D - miro

currently we're setup for 1080p... but I agree 60fps makes a big difference... we're actually looking at ways of speeding up rendering p/frame, then both 1080p 60fps should be feasible

Kyla

depends on whats in the scene, things like textures, enviroments, character number, ect ect heavily change render times. :)

I just recommend to try Quadro graphic card for render cause i think it could help didn't mean to sign anything.

Neptune

Thanks for sharing all the dirty details, very impressive.

The "more like 60,000 frames" is roughly 9 months of 8 hours a day 7 days a week rendering. That is a lot!

ponyboy313

I seriously can't wait!! Every update gets me more & more excited

Nope

So assuming all farms are going at once the process takes 21 days? Interesting.
