If you've already recommended me an anime, please do not repeat the recommendation, I've written all the previous ones down.

Reply to this post with an anime you think I should watch. Please include how many episodes the anime is (ex: Bocchi the Rock (12 episodes)), the shorter the anime, the more likely it will be chosen.

I am particularly interested in movies right now, so if there are any anime movies I haven't seen that you'd recommend, let me know.

here's a list of every anime I've already watched: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/MyAnime/?user=ProZD&categ=3

Kemonozume (13 eps or so) Five Star Stories (film)

Cragl3yman343

Rock is a Lady's Modesty (13 Episodes)

Tierney Grim

Please tell me Galko chan (12 episodes)

symphonic

+1 to this one as well, very entertaining for most of it, and so much crude language LMAO

Hercule Pyro

Recovery of an MMO Junkie (10 episodes, has 2 OVAs don't know if they're good)

symphonic

I don't think I saw the Pokémon Lucario and the Mystery of Mew movie on the list, but I remember really loving that one when I was younger for its emotional beats

SomeCallMeGON

When it finishes airing for the season, Journal With Witch. It will be 13 episodes and I feel it would be up your alley. It's only half done and already likely going to be a favorite of mine for its character interactions and emotional depth.

GhidraInLove

You should watch the movie Junkers Come Here, it's a very beautiful story

Sadib Khan

I was just joking about Detective Conan before.

NomNom

Was going to recommend the Lupin the IIIrd movies, but see that you've already watched most of them. Would love to hear your thoughts on them! Also Yuru Camp: The Movie is a lovely jubbly relaxing watch. Highly recommend for a decompress sesh on a rough day!

Lush✌️

Mars Express. Anime inspired movie

symphonic

I'm surprised to not see Re:Zero (season 1 is 25 episodes) on here already as well, as well as Mushoku Tensei (first cour is 11 episodes) Both awesome, emotionally intense isekai.

sapph

Kowloon Generic Romance, 13 eps

Aaron Murdoch

The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You. 2 seasons, 12 eps per season. (Apologize if this sell is a bit long winded) Okay, I know how this looks, and I avoided the show for awhile for the exact same reason. I haven't been into harem anime since I was like 15, and even though I knew this was supposed to be self aware and satirical, I was just like "I still don't think I can get into this." Then one day I tuned into gigguk's stream and he was watching 100 Girlfriends on stream, and I dropped everything to watch all 12 eps at the time. It is now in my top 20. It actually is extremely funny and when the third girl is introduced they start taking the romance element of the show seriously and nail it. Each girlfriend eventually gets multiple episodes of 1 on 1 development, they all somehow have just the right amount of screen time, and the gags never feel repetitive. If Scream is both a satire on slashers while simultaneously being one of the best slashers, this is that but for harem. Also dub is a must!!!

symphonic

Last one I'm gonna put in here right now off the top of my head I don't see is Days With My Stepsister, which sounds sus as hell but I promise it's actually insanely well written and portrayed

Kyle Adams

Hells. It's a 2-hour-long anime movie. I'm still not sure what to think of it.

sapph

Bonus: Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle is an anime movie (and personally a masterpiece)

Garreth

Castlevania

Saikomachi

PriConne (26 episodes), the main characters are really well done compared to their video game counter parts, and Yuki is best boy.

Verdigree

It seems you've seen Madoka Magica but not the movies! (I don't recommend the first two movies because they are recaps of the show that I don't think translate well to movie pacing) but the THIRD movie, Rebellion, is a continuation of the story

Miy Eterp

Delicious in dungeon loli

Emily Collins

- Life With an Ordinary Guy Who Reincarnated into a Total Fantasy Knockout (1 season, 12 eps) - Isekai Office Worker: the Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter (1 season, 6 eps so far) - I May Be a Guild Receptionist, But I'll Solo Any Boss to Clock Out on Time (1 season, 12 eps) I swear to universe that they may sound like trash because of their titles, but they are good

MOL352

Black Rock Shooter OVA (40 mins)

Gyratyne

Inferno Cop (13 episodes). Very short gag series from Studio Trigger.

Nico

Two series about pairs of women living their lives and leaving bloody destruction in their wake. One from last year one from 41 years ago Ninja and an Assassin Under One Roof (12 episodes) Dirty Pair (24 episodes, the numbering on this one can get messy but just watch the original 24 eps from 1985)

Kyle S

Would you be open to watching donghua in addition to anime? Nobody (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobody_(2025_film)) was a really funny comedic take on the classic Journey to the West story. I don't think it's been officially picked up for American distribution outside of festivals yet, but a few pirate copies that include English subtitles are on Youtube under the Chinese title, 浪浪山小妖怪 (Little Monsters of Langlang Mountain). Perhaps your industry connections would also allow you access to a screener if you'd prefer to stay off the high seas?

Emily Collins

He's already seen it. He's even in it!

dragonweirdo

I recommend Kemonozume (12 episodes). Its of the anime masaki yuasa worked on. Unfortunately i dont think its made it overseas yet.

Roz

Let's Go Karaoke! It's only five eps but it's amazing. One of the most perfectly contained anime experiences that's not a movie. Also: The Summer Hikaru Died. One season so far out of a probable two. 12 eps.

Jonathan Nguyen

How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift? (12 Episodes) One of my favorite anime comedies. Love the manga. Still waiting for season 2.

Tori Williams

Since you're looking for films, I recommend both of the Mononoke films on Netflix! I think it's not a bad idea to have watched the series, but the series is a bit like Mushi-shi where there's cases that the Medicine Seller deals with and not necessarily an over-arching story so I think you'd be fine just jumping into the films first if you like. They're so beautifully animated!

Pumaloaf

Reincarnated as a Sword, 12 episodes

PG Modehouse

Serial Experiments Lain is the "worst ever"? Why? Maybe you watched it at the wrong time in your life? My recommendation is Gungrave: Yasuhiro Nightow directs, Tsuneo Imahori composes. A 26 episode Sci-fi Mafia series.

lyntropy

BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! (season 1) and BanG Dream! Ave Mujica (season 2)! There's 13 episodes per season. The only other anime I've watched about cute anime girls trying to be in a music group is the Love Live animes and it's kind of like that with a lot more interesting drama!

Nick

Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack. You've seen the Movie Trilogy, and after discussing it with my friends who are also Gundam fans like me, they said you can watch Char's Counterattack even if you haven't watched Zeta Gundam, you'll still get plenty out of it. Alternatively, Gundam F91 which is a standalone film, you just have to go into it knowing that it was originally supposed to be a 50 episode TV series that was turned into a movie when the TV series was cancelled before it finished production(it never aired), or Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection since I saw you watched the whole TV series. It's technically canon to the compilation films rather than the TV series, because they make some changes to the story that let the movie happen, HOWEVER, I never watched the comp films, and went straight from the TV series to the movie, and I found it to still work while acknowledging the parts that clearly were retcons from the movies.

WAC 'n HAC

All You Need Is Kill! Although you might not be able to watch that for a bit, it recently had a brief run in theaters and I'm not sure if/when it'll be available on Blu-ray or streaming.

Sasa

School-Live! (Gakkoukurashi) - 12 episodes. go into it without looking up its animenetwork or myanimelist so that you know as little as possible because everywhere has some kind of spoiler. the best way to describe it is like the way you described "miss kobayashi's dragon maid" where the parts that are good are fuckin' fantastic but the few moments that aren't are terrible and unnecessary (which is only 1 episode tbh). hope you consider it! Ajin (26 episodes, 13 ep/2 seasons)

kitkait

Any way to see what people have already recommended in previous posts? The Disastrous Life of Saiki K (Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan) - 24 episodes in season 1, but one episode is 4 mini skits so it feels light and easy to pick up/put down. It might be my favorite comedy anime, a real hidden gem overlooked because honestly the art is shit. But for people that like Mob Psycho, I sell it as the sitcom version of the overpowered psychic lead. The delivery of the English voice cast is a riot.

Gilbert Marquez

Durarara!! and its sequels with episode counts: Durarara!! (2010) 24 episodes 2 OVAs (Episodes 12.5 and 25) Total: 26 episodes Durarara!!x2 (2015–2016 sequel series) This sequel is split into three cours: 1️⃣ Shō (承) 12 episodes 2️⃣ Ten (転) 12 episodes 3️⃣ Ketsu (結) 12 episodes 1 OVA (Episode 4.5) Total for x2: 37 episodes

rudolfpikel

This recommendation only works if you're comfortable torenting since unfortunately there's no officially available English subtitled version, but I'd highly recommend "Totto-Chan: The Little Girl at the Window." It's a 1h54min and gorgeous filmic adaptation of Japan's most popular autobiography, and I found it very touching and poignant. Some very strong characters, and powerful themes around children, education, and late Imperial Japan.

T-Swizzle

Girls' Last Tour 12 episodes In a future where most of humanity has perished, two young girls explore the ruins of civilization looking for food and fuel, trying to survive and find joy in their daily life

Xpulsion

Shinsekai Yori (25 episodes)

lexicalunit - Amy

Now and Then, Here and There - 12 episodes Very character driven and emotional. One of my all time favorites from the late 90s.

T-Swizzle

See You Tomorrow at the Food Court 6 episodes 2 girls just shooting the shit. Good characters, especially recommend if you enjoyed the random conversations and observations characters make in shows like Lucky Star and Bocchi

Daniel Vieth

Movie I saw recently that really impressed me was The Summit of the Gods (Le Sommet des Dieux), an adaptation of the manga of the same name. I went down a rabbit hole of high altitude mountaineering videos, come to find there was an anime all about it that is apparently quite accurate in its depiction.

Ash

I agree. It's my anime of the season so far and probably one of my recent favorite anime as well

Ash

One series that I'm surprised to not see on your list is March Comes in Like a Lion. Season 1 has 22 episodes and season 2 has 22 as well. For a review, I'd just watch season 1. I watched this and Chihayafuru around the same time, so I associate these two manga with each other

xiaa

The masterful cat is depressed again 12 eps

fmjc

Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction - 18 Episodes There is an episode 0, that you could technically watch first, but personally I would watch it after episode 16, since that is how it happens in the manga as well and I think it works better that way. It's by the author of Oyasumi Punpun and while the manga is relatively popular, I've never seen anyone talk about the anime, even though it's very good. It's a nice mix of very different genres, so I think it's pretty interesting.

Derek Skelton

Highly recommend Rolling Girls. Delightful show about a buncha girls on motorcycles making a road trip through a very interesting version of Japan

Izer

I don't think/I'm not sure if he's finished Haikyu! S4 yet

mguin

When Marnie Was There - 2014 (movie)

Caiden

12 episodes

Caiden

From what I remember, it was good for a pokemon movie!🙂

James Rule

Looks at list to see if there anything to suggest, comes away with more things to watch. Mission accomplished.

SomeCallMeGON

Lain being down that far while Haibane Renmei being further up is interesting.

NINJEW

gundam: 0080 war in the pocket

kurona7

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury (season one is 13 episodes including episode 0. Season two is 12 episodes.)

tenor41

Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket (6 Episode OVA)

symphonic

This one has caught my eye too since it's supposedly quite dramatic unlike a lot of idol shows

Pablo Madoka

I recommend the 1982 film Space Adventure Cobra (approx 100 minutes). It requires no knowledge of the anime series, is a ton of fun swashbuckling adventure and is a masterclass in storyboarding and cinematography. If you watch and enjoy the film it's a great introduction to Osamu Dezaki's work, who most notably directed the latter half of all time classic (and one of the best anime ever imo) Rose of Versailles (40 episodes). Don't watch the 2025 Rose of Versailles film though it removes everything interesting about the story and replaces it with (admittedly pretty) musical numbers

Pablo Madoka

It's My Go is one of the most interesting and personal explorations I've seen of autism, plus the music and animation are beautiful. The girls are total bitches to each other though, some of the meanest anime girls out there so fair warning if you don't like that

Ampoth

The Princess and the Pilot Toaru Hikuushi e no Tsuioku Movie - 2011 - MADHOUSE It may be a little formulaic, but I really enjoyed it for both the action sequences and the characters themselves.

Pablo Madoka

Endorse everything here including the confusing watch order. This show is incredibly bleak and extremely cynical (Sungwon probably figured that out from Oyasumi Punpun) and has a lot of deliberately uncomfortable parallels to current events, making it a bit of a hard watch, but it's a truly singular anime and fantastic story. Also the pingpong mangaka did the character design and every single background character, including random soldiers, has a unique face which is itself a remarkable accomplishment

Dakota Blair

- Iria: Zeiram the Animation (1994) (6 episodes) - Dominion Tank Police (1988) (4 episodes) - New Dominion Tank Police (1993) (6 episodes) Are these good suggestions? I am not sure, I think I have too much nostalgia wrapped up in them to be objective. I first saw Iria and the first Tank Police OVA on the Sci-fi channel (now Syfy). They were presented in a block or two parts, as a movie and it was only later that I realized they had individual episodes. Iria blew my mind as a kid, the world was so fantastical and I thought the characters were so cool. And now as an adult I find it was a fancy ad for a movie. Even so, it's still one of my favorites. I liked Tank Police (written by Masamune Shirow of Ghost in the Shell fame) so much that I tried to buy it on *VHS* at the mall, but I accidentally bought New Dominion, which is slightly edgier, particularly in its language. So when I got home and started watching it and the cartoon characters were using foul language, when my mom heard it, that was the end of anime on VHS for me in my house ;_; In a recent rewatch I found the original Tank Police to be a really touching story. I have not seen Patlabor, but some of your criticisms of the first one reminded me of how Tank Police was a little bit of the opposite in my experience, particularly with the character driven story of the first OVA. Also it was much funnier than I remembered. The second one is also good, but I think in trying to have a sharper edge loses a bit of what I liked about the first one.

Chris Ushi

-Elf 17 (1987) a one episode OVA - Legend of Hei (2019) I don't know if it counts because it is a Chinese production (also Legend of Hei 2, but currently hard to find on American platforms)

Jirrij

Project A-Ko (movie)

Vitriol

Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl (movie). Direct sequel to the Bunny Girl TV Series, and it is to my taste the most interesting story arc of the series bar none. You don't need to remember a whole lot from the series either to jump right back in here.

Ironwolf

HA! I was totally going to suggest this!

Ironwolf

The first 'Vampire Hunter D' (1985), 'Halo Legends' which I still don't quite know how to feel about..., and 'Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz' (but you should watch the 'Gundam Wing' show first so you know who's who, it's 50 episodes, with 2 unnecessary filler episodes in the middle).

Isaac Sher

Movie: Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer, directed by Mamoru Oshii TV series: Gundam Guild Fighters 25 episodes, Gundam Guild Fighters Try (also 25 episodes, only if you enjoyed GBF)

Tox

Uma Musume: Beginning of a New Era (movie). This is also getting an NA theater release around the end of this month

Matthew Ely

I'll never forget the "Call me Yoon-Kers!!" speech bubble on the cover

Fey

The Colors Within. Beautiful film by Naoko Yamada (of Silent Voice and K-On fame). Just an absolute delight to watch.

purplealchemist

Anime: From Me to You (I see you watched season one but not season two where it gets reallyyyy goooddd) Anime Movie: Fullmetal Alchemist Conquer of Shamballa (since you said it was WEAK and I disagree)

The Almighty Couch

I came here to recommend Durarara as well. It's from the same dude who wrote Baccano if that means anything.

PigNebula

Hellsing Ultimate (10 Episodes). It's got great animation and music as well as an interesting storyline. It does loose some of the character building from the original series but it also ends properly. A fun watch.

Casero

Anime movie: chainsaw man reze arc. I know it's getting all the hype but It's really good and it's an hour and 41 mins of pure cinema (imo)

Caiden

I've never watched these. They seem like they might be good, though. Interested in hearing your thoughts on them. -Blue Spring Ride (12 episodes + 2 OVAs) -The World Is Still Beautiful (12 episodes) -The Fate series (7 to 26 episodes per show + movies) -Dragonball Daima (20 episodes) -Katanagatari (12 episodes) (unrelated to Monogatari) -Re:Creators (22 episodes) -Those Snow White Notes (12 episodes) -Horimiya (13 episodes) -A Corpse is Buried Under Sakurako's Feet (12 episodes) -Orange (13 episodes) -Sonny Boy and Dewdrop Girl (short film) -Drifting Home (movie) -Child of Kamiari Month (movie) -Hello World (movie)

Venkat

Belladonna of sadness. It’s old, very different animation style, and a hard watch, but curious what you’d think of it

Glob Bob

Got some movies here All you need is kill (the new animated one not the cruise one) Revue Starlight (show and sequential movie) Umamusume Movie beginning of a new era Anime shows Bang Dream MyGO!!!!! and then Ave Mujica (both seasons have 13 episodes each) (these two shows are kind of independent from the rest of the Bang Dream series but also tied in together. There’s some loose connections but overall you don’t have to have seen any other bang dreams) Journal with Witch (12 episodes) Mono (12 episodes)
