Back then, idols were expected to look flawlessly polished in front of the camera and somehow live equally perfect lives even behind it. That kind of pressure is what, in the past, led many Korean idols and actors to tragic outcomes. From my experience following K-pop, BTS has done a lot to break that mold. They’ve helped normalize things that used to be considered “sensitive” for an idol’s image, like showing up barefaced, having tattoos, smoking, drinking in front of camera or just expressing themselves freely. Honestly, as long as it’s within reason and doesn’t harm anyone, these are normal things for adult men. You can really see this through Weverse Live, especially with Jungkook. He’s probably the member who goes live the most and for the longest time. Sleeping, cooking, karaoke, working out, gaming, etc. During those lives, very human moments like cursing, burping, and even farting just happen, and no one makes a big deal out of it anymore. At this point, it honestly feels like Jungkook and ARMY are basically besties 😭🤣

LMAO at 9:55, the song they were singing is called "Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)" by Girl's Generation, one of the most legendary Kpop girl groups, so no it's not a tradition to sing that song lol. At 32:00, the Seonghyeon nickname thing you were confused about is regarding his last name 'Eom.' Eom is a really rare last name in South Korea, and the fans have been using his last name Eom to make fun nicknames like Eomma (mother in Korean) and Eomji (thumb in Korean). And oh man I wish you got the joke that James made after a fan said that they can have 5 boyfriends. Basically, James was saying "It's not possible to have 5 boyfriends. However, if I eat fast food, I can have Five Guys (a fast-food burger chain in America)." It was such a dad joke but so freaking funny cause it's came out of nowhere.

Only James can turn a conversation about poop into a motivational speech LMAO Incoming Essay: This live was really refreshing to watch because of how freely the boys were talking about topics like romance and poop with their fans. It is so obvious that most of the stuff that the boys were saying wasn't supposed to be taken seriously; like we all know that none of them have relationship experience because they were trapped in Big Hit's trainee dungeon since they were like 11. I loved the interactions they had with COER this live, but I do have to say that Martin reading some of the questionable comments was not a good idea. Reading such comments will only make those fans think that it is okay for them to say such things to them when clearly they don't like comments like that. Unfortunately, Kpop thrives off of parasocialism, so most Kpop idols don't talk about romance and dating, especially this early in their career, to feed into some fans' delusions that the idol belongs to them in a romantic sense. That's why this live received negative reactions from some Korean and Chinese fans because they usually are the fans that live off the parasocial interactions (example: a lot of Martin's weird fan interactions are with those fans). I hope the boys continue to do stuff outside the norm of Kpop because I believe they can change the dynamic between fans and idols that can be really toxic at times.
