Hey Senior! First time commenter, and sorry for the super long comment in advance 😅 I'm a longtime casual VIP (since 2008 aka Haru-Haru days) and it's so nice to see someone appreciate the older BIGBANG songs (esp. Pre-MADE era), these are the bangers that I grew up with and listened to them every day on the way to school 🤭 People usually think that BIGBANG's best songs are the club bangers, but I think they shine the most in their sad/melancholic songs. We always ask who hurt GD because all the breakup songs he writes are so good LOL - Cafe: the instrument you are asking about is likely a trumpet or horn! - Blue: I think you already noticed it in the subtitles, but the word "chok chok" is translated differently in the fansub official MV vs the fansub live performance. The translation in the official MV was literal ("moistly" because of the words "tears" like you pointed out), but the live performance uses "tenderly", which I think is more accurate/apt. - Loser: AFAIK TOP didn't get any backlash for the kissing scene - he was already known as an actor by then so I guess we were already prepared to see romance/intimate scenes from him in one way or another. BIGBANG also never really fed into parasocialism even during their early debut days. Some fun facts: - When they were in their 20s, they often talked about being in relationships in various variety shows. There's also tons of photos of them clubbing with girls (mostly their close friends) and smoking/drinking, and fans were pretty much unbothered... which is probably unthinkable in today's kpop lol - IIRC TOP used to call out parasocial behavior (towards him) on instagram - VIPs did not go crazy when Taeyang announced he was in a relationship with his current wife (I think that was back in 2014? So that was when they were still pretty active)... in fact, fans kept tagging his wife with funny Taeyang memes for days and even congratulated him for "losing his v-card" on the day he got married 🤣 - In recent years, Daesung has been talking about wanting to get married before 40, and always tells VIPs to marry someone who is not him haha - GD also mentioned in recent interviews that he's hoping to get married (also because Taeyang keeps telling them married life is nice haha), but it looks like he's trying to let nature take its course I don't know if you are taking any recommendations, but if you are ever interested in checking out an entire live concert, I highly suggest watching the Japan Dome Tour X 2014-2015 concert (either after you're more familiar with their older discography or you could just jump right into it if you want to) - the sound and stage design is pretty dope! Thanks for the reaction and I look forward to watching more BIGBANG content with you! 😆

For the para social aspect you mentioned, bigbang is in the lower end compared to other idols. Their fan base has the highest male fans making it almost 50% of each gender + they’re loved by the Korean general public [ casual listeners that aren’t fans] . They do less fan service and have been in many public relationships without effecting their popularity. I think also the way yg handles their relationship scandals also helps, they don’t address it or they’d say “its the artist person life” or “ we dont know” or in taeyang case for example “We can’t get in touch with Taeyang at the moment (…) If his relationship is true, congratulations.” stuff like that i guess not allowing fans to cross the line. Also a big factor is that these “relationship scandals “ are really nothing compared to the scandles they have been into. It’s truly unique in the industry how they overcame these scandals and long hautus that lasted years, + their scandals are all career ending in idols world but somehow Koreans are forgiven when it comes to bigbang and their music is to their taste for two decades now. Nevertheless the “burning sun scandal” is the biggest one in kpop, it’s so disgusting I can’t fathom how the people involved have been given short sentences. I remember it came out around the same time as the “ Nth room” [ a different sex trafficking scandal, in my opinion more disturbing, however it didn’t involve celebrities like the burning sun] and everyone was shocked. I think it tought everyone that we truly dont know these people, they can be the most evil and vile but put on an act fooling everyone. They deserve way worse and it’s frustrating how cocky and arrogant they are to think they’ll never be caught. These are links to the burning scandal bbc documentary i thinks its the shortest, i kind of forgot the details but i think it was enough. - bbc documentary : https://youtu.be/9EEp1q_iMYc?si=z4TvlEtUZ9BUE76W There’s also rotten mango video but its a bit long and she [2h] https://youtu.be/kFLuckWYBWg?si=1YEKBYPWQWkAP0SD

Just adding on to the documentaries - I suggest checking out the rotten mango 3-part special if you have the time because the BBC documentary contains some slight inaccuracies iirc. Stephanie's coverage of the Burning Sun scandal is quite comprehensive, at least when it comes to the objective facts!
