Thank u senior. I felt for Martin this whole video, people expect a lot from Martin always more than the other members I feel like, every time other idols talk about cortis they mention Martins name saying he is good bcs he stands out, like jungkook and rm, txt, ateez and many more, for the fact that he helped produced hit billboard charts songs even before debut and also bcs he doesn't seem like a rookie and I think thats why I'm always so impressed by Martin as someone who has been following kpop for a long time now if u go back and see the performances, vocals and dance skills from the other groups with 5 months in the industry they were not like that, so for him being like that is not common. And this is something that many people even within the industry pointed out about Martin, and him being polish in all those skills. With all this being said, the way he was shaking just shows how much this is important for him. I'm of course proud of all the members that must had felt the same but I do felt more for Martin since he trained the longest among all the cortis members 6 years and the group was formed around him just like they did with rm in bts and bangchan of stray kids. And as we speak they are working hard in their album and still have time to put content out for us and make 1 hour weverse live too, so I know they are so tired already as they even said themselves in the car talk video. Senior for u to understand is very common in kpop for the groups just to get a song done and choreography and the label just give the group and they just have to record , Cortis decided they wanted to do that themselves of course they have a team and producers to help them, but since October they were doing their promotions, interviews, performances, traveling to a bunch of different countries and having 5 or more end of the year performances and having to think about, lyrics, concepts, choreography, beats. So yeah I'm sorry if this is too long but is just that I respect cortis a lot bcs they could had chose the easiest path but they didn't, so even though they are showing us their funny side and chaotic I see more than just that personally

I had to look up what Martin ate at 36:45 that made him have that visceral reaction and oh my goddd 🤢 It's called Cheongsimhwan, and it's made from a cow's gallbladder stones... It's a traditional Korean medicine that's supposed to be good for calming nerves but holy shit I can't begin to imagine what that tastes like!

Ariunn1

thank you 🙏❤️

I can't believe people say Cortis had everything handed to them being in Bighit. It's clear they work so hard I mean look at them at the end of MAMA, I wanted to cry when James said don't worry he'll be fine—but he was so sick that day. There's even a video of him throwing up the moment he gets off stage. Actually, 3/5 members were sick 🙁 Yes, Bighit is has a rep for producing superstar groups, but that just means Cortis has so much to live up to. Being in Bighit is a blessing and a curse because Cortis gets hate for coming after Txt...the same way Txt was getting hate for coming after Bts. All this senseless hate is sign of success 🙌 So proud of these boys they're just gonna keep growing!

Iman

I know you didn't ask but at 13:49 James was teaching them how to pronounce "Are you ready ?" in chinese. I wanted to point it out because I thought they looked adorable repeating after him like minions ahaha ^^

Hi I just want to highlight some things mentioned in your message, but overall, I also felt a lot of empathy for Martin in this video, especially in regards to his nerves. The boys should be extremely proud of all the things they contributed to their debut album, but something I noticed is that the boys are very humble about their contributions to the album. They always acknowledged the artists, producers, and staff they worked with during the process of making their debut album because in the end, those were the people who made it possible for them to express themselves creatively. However, on the contrary, I feel like some COER put CORTIS on a pedestal as the standard for Kpop compared to other Kpop groups, and this is why I think a lot of other fandoms get really upset with COER, especially when they constantly mention James and Martin's contributions to other groups' works. CORTIS having some creative control over their artistry, especially from debut, is EXTREMELY RARE, not only in kpop but pop as well. And that's because pop/kpop is about selling an image with the music that is curated by the label itself. So, I don't like to put down other groups for not being involved in the creative production of their album because most of the time, they aren't allowed to. In the documentary, CORTIS' team, aka Team 3, mentioned that their focus when developing Team 3 was to create a group that loved and wanted to be involved in music. That is CORTIS' image. And no, I don't think that CORTIS was formed around Martin at all because Martin said in Lee Mujin Service that the boys had already been making music together when they were trainees, and from Zach Sang's interview, the company probably saw that these kids were working together and were aligned with the vision for Team 3, resulting in them being selected and formed. To wrap up this essay, the boys have so much untapped potential that has yet to be explored. In the recent live, we learned that some of the boys are practicing instruments to expand their musical horizon. This is also why I don't mind if they take their time to release the next album. COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES took a year to be officially released to the public, and even though they are getting faster at doing stuff, I think it's also okay to take time to release the comeback album if it means that it will be even better than the debut album.

I don't think it's wrong to say that Big Hit definitely gave the CORTIS the resources they needed to be successful. But the thing to highlight is that CORTIS utilizes their resources and opportunities extremely well to prove themselves outside of their company's support! I love that Big Hit support the artistic endeavors for the boys and provides them with the support to create iconic performances like Martin's intro for the MAMA performance.

Hii Stella I agree with most of what u are saying. But the fact that some fandoms be upset with coer, it’s bcs most down play what the other groups have worked and I’m not trying to do that, but I’m sorry but not sorry I never seen a newer kpop group being this much polished, creative and have the space to work in things even before debuted like Cortis. I don’t think this is putting a group in a pedestal but it’s different from what u have seen throughout the years in Kpop, and that’s why is highlighted so much I feel like. And about Martin when I say a group is formed around a member, I don’t know if u have noticed but this happens more than u imagine. For example bangchan from stray kids trained for 7 years and Martin for 6 years. Do u think if they didn’t see potential in this guys they would have tell them they fail but they keep them for this many years and waited for more people to come after to form the group and they both became the leaders. What I mean by being formed around a certain member is that the company already knew that Martin and Bangchan would debuted but waited for more people that fitted the group to come. Since they have evaluations every month. It’s just that now it became cool to hate on Cortis and saying that the fans are doing too much. It’s true that making ur own music is not new, it’s true that the genre they do it’s not new. But IT IS in a kpop group, people be comparing Cortis with foreign artists to say they don’t do nothing knew and makes me wonder if these people know how to interpret or they do it with a bad heart. I can’t believe people who follow kpop for years can deny that. It’s not common for rookie groups have this much saying in EVERYTHING lyrics, choreo, composing, concept. Usually most of groups start to do this after a time….or am I lying? It’s simple if u look into groups from 1st, second, third, forth and fifth gen, u gonna see the pattern. I will not fall for the “coer is doing too much” propaganda, when all they do is compare their group to Cortis that just started. It’s a good thing that they have a fanbase that is locked in already, and this much attention has to mean something. As always I’m not gonna be here pretending that don’t exist many fan accounts that do too much and play other groups down but this happens in literally ANY fandoms and I hate it personally, but also they don’t miss a opportunity to play victim like they don’t say nothing bad about Cortis and it’s just a coer who is doing the most. I personally don’t have and never had a fan account to any of the many kpop groups I follow but I read the things every fandom says. And if u are online u know very well the things they are trying to do with Cortis. That’s why I can’t wait for the second album so they can prove themselves again. Bcs in the beginning I saw the same people who loved Cortis music saying it’s bad now…. Cmon. I agree that some things like that TikTok video carry more height and not just bcs of Cortis but the KPOP industry in general but to say something about their music and now to suit up like that….. That’s not honestly that’s being a shady person and hypocritical. Sorry for the long text also lol I just wanted u to understand my point also 🫶🏻❤️ btw also I think it’s fine to take their time I’m just excited I can’t with those people talking about their first ep songs no more

stella

Hi Ana! Lmao you're totally good with the long text...that's more for Senior to complain about LOL. I appreciate your point a lot and love conversations like these because Kpop is a genre where fans really take the time to learn about the industry and the behind-the-scenes. In the end, we don't know all the details of CORTIS' formation, which is why I don't want to make claims that the group was FORMED around Martin as it kind of reduces the importance of the other 4 members who all were recognized by the company in their own unique way. Also, no one is guaranteed to debut just as a group isn't guaranteed to last long as we have seen numerous times in Kpop. As for the way other groups' fans react, there are good and bad sides to every fandom, including COER. It's clear that online discourse between fandoms is just mostly made up of immature fans, who feel threatened by the existence of other groups, so the best thing is to just either support all groups or focus your attention on supporting your favorite group.

Keonho and Seonghyeon's struggle to comfortably talk to Yeonjun is honestly very real considering the fact that they have a 10-year age gap. Plus Yeonjun has been an idol for 6 years, so he's a senior to them in the industry that they look up to and deeply respect. It's kind of like a typical workplace environment where you need to have more interactions with your senior to be finally be comfortable talking to your senior as a coworker/friend.

Ana

yeah I totally agree with u. And also my intention wasn’t to down play the members but maybe explain why he was so nervous. Of course all of them have their own thing. I just get very impressed by their talent in a such young age

Ana

Senior where u at ? lol
