Been a while so here's a Questions & Answers for everyone! Please refrain from:

-Asking questions about ITGR's story or fandom (sorry lol, i really just dont want to answer anything regarding ITGR until the story is over) - Process or work-related ITGR questions are A-OK. Examples of acceptable questions: "who is your least favorite character to draw" "whats it like working with an editor" "how long does it take you to do a chapter" "was doing the book harder than the webtoon" ETC

-Asking very personal questions

Things you can ask me about: Other projects, hobbies, any kinds of advice, art stuff, anime, conventions, future plans, streaming, etc etc!

Does any media (shows, movies, music, etc) influence your art? And if so which ones?

kirukira~

Do you plan on making more merch for other fandoms (I just need Mizuki Akiyama in your style. Please. Sobbing As We Speak.) This is kinda a dumb question ig but will the the bonus illustrations from the manga be available for download at some point? I wanna set some of them as a wallpaper or pfp so bad lmao

Kuro

Hi Grave! I hope you’re doing well! ITGR is my favourite series! (Webtoon/Manga/Manhwa) Do you know what kind of series/genre you’d like to write after ITGR?

GRAVEWEAVER

A lot of manga for sure and some other illustrators. I think right now my biggest influence might be dandadan, I'm super into the action scenes and am always blown away at how the mangaka puts out such an unfathomably quality on a weekly basis. I also recently bought one of AU's artbooks ( https://x.com/D__elete ) - It was like $150 because it was a comiket exclusive and I didn't go to japan to pick one up but I really love the horror-pretty-boy style they have so I shelled out the money to grab a copy from a secondhand store. In terms of music I've been listening to a lot of "creepy nuts" recently since they did the opening to dandadan. I am actually not a super big music person so I usually just pick like 3 songs I loop for a week then go back to watching lethal company livestreams lol

What is your favorite trope in a comic/media and your least favorite trope?

GRAVEWEAVER

I am doing some other stuff ye! I am not doing as much fanart merch as I did before as I have some other projects in the work taking away most of my attention (while also doing ITGR), but for AX I have vocaloid, dandadan, severance, apothecary diaries, and arcane stuff planned (maybe some other things too but we'll see!)

GRAVEWEAVER

And as for the bonus illustrations unfortunately I don't think I'll ever be able to share them :( a few I got the OK to post as low-res promos, but the rest VIZ wants to keep exclusive to the books

kirukira~

NOOOO theres this one illus of chase that i really liked. I'll have to live without it 😔

GRAVEWEAVER

Hi Kuro! I'm so glad to hear its your favorite! :D After ITGR I think I want to tackle a series that is less cynical. the word in itgr is pretty shit and every character is jaded as hell, i think next time id like some characters that are more optimistic despite their circumstances. I'll probably still write another psychological thriller but I want it to be more like "the horrors persist but so does the indomitable human spirit "

GRAVEWEAVER

Hmm. Favorite Trope: When the antagonist and protagonist have to team up for a threat greater than the both of them. Least favorite trope: Whatever its called at the end of a series where the characters all get paired up with other characters (whether it makes sense or not) and EVERY SINGLE ONE has a kid (conveniently timed for them to be in the same grade for a possible sequel)

Hi! I’ve been obsessed with ITGR for over a year now and I just wanted to know, who is your favorite arch-angel to draw and why? And if there was any character that inspired their design ^^

GRAVEWEAVER

Thanks for reading! I like drawing Azrael because he's rather simple lol. I don't know if anyone particular inspired him but I did try to make him in that archetype of character that is smiley and upbeat but has a lot of secrets, like urahara from bleach.

Coris_369

How long do fight scenes usually take you to draw? I’ve been wanting to make a comic of my own for a while now and was wondering if you had any advice on how to make fight scenes look good but also not be too time consuming

Kuro

Thank you, Grave! That sounds super interesting! Looking forward to it!

GRAVEWEAVER

Fight scenes take like double the amount of time of normal scenes and unfortunately theres no way around it. You can make the fight take less time to draw sort-of by doing a lot of small filler crops of hand, hair, movement, etc, and then interspersing them with wide detailed shots to illustrate whats happening, maybe having the characters pause to talk a bit, stuff like that. The "filler" shots are to slow the reader down because if theres no words they will BLAZE through the chapter.

Jess Cortes

Hey Grave! How are you doing? And can you give us updates on the kitties?

mavis

how long do you think the physical copies of ITGR will continue on for? i was curious because as ive been a fan for awhile, (like, i started reading when the first 3 colored episodes came out in 2019, and your comic is like my hyperfixation lmao) id buy every single copy, but i wasnt sure if it was a personal preference of when youd want it to end, or if it was purely a financial situation, or something else. tysm for your work btw i appreciate and love it so much!!

GRAVEWEAVER

Hiya!! I'm very busy atm and probably will have no weekends until july but eh thats the way the cookie crumbles. As for roark and luca theyre both doing great!! luca had a vet appointment last month and the vet said she had an especially stinky but so theres that. but they are both happy and healthy :)

GRAVEWEAVER

thank you so much for following the comic for so long!! ;.; Right now we only have 4 volumes planned 100% for certain, the 4th volume is completely done and just has to go get printed and wait for its release date. However beyond that is a mystery, it depends on if VIZ wants to continue, even though ITGR is strange in their lineup because they only do black and white manga. If they want to continue I would probablyyyyyy continue it, though the physical copies are VERY tiring to make because theres a lot of redrawing and tackling my past work is just very exhausting because i see so many issues with it lol. it would probably depend on what my work lineup looks like if they made the offer. i am wanting to move onto a new project so if thats too crazy then it might not happen. sorry its not a very specific answer X(

BopBopBop

Firstly, I found ITGR through the music video with The Warning, do you have a favorite song from their (really amazing) lineup?

BopBopBop

Also, do you have any advice for aspiring future creators that can't seem to motivate themselves?

GRAVEWEAVER

My favorite song is of course animosity :)

GRAVEWEAVER

Yes! So, the word i like to use instead is "work ethic", and its a skill just like everything else. No one can create a full comic series right out of the gate, it takes a couple dropped off projects. Just make sure every time you're aiming to do something, do a little more than you did last time. You have to train to be able to have the work ethic to do a chapter a week and it takes a lot of training. Start with something more realistic like a chapter every two months and if you can manage that then slowly increase from there, and if you fall off and drop the project, be forgiving to yourself- Just make sure on your next project you make it one chapter more than wherever you dropped off at!

Coris_369

Thank you, that’s actually really helpful, also love the comic, been around since the beginning and it’s honestly been my favorite thing to read while I was still in school, still is. It’s honestly amazing work and I strive to make something as good 😭

Ink

This was probably asked before but have you ever considered itgr having a animated adaption? Also any favorite streamers x)?

GRAVEWEAVER

Thank you so much for keeping up for so long! I can keep up with the weekly updates basically solely because of my assistants who work super hard and are amazing. I usually just do storyboards+sketches, dialogue, some of the lines and colors, backgrounds and post-processing. Its still a lot but I can do it in 4 days generally! I have never redrawn an ep because I have everything planned before I do it. usually ill have the next, like, 10 episodes planned in detail and then a rough draft all the way to the end of the series. I will return to twitch soon because twitchcon apps are up and i need to stream to be eligible lol. But i probably wont stick around for too long because streaming tires me out a tooooooooooon when itgr returns it will be a fast pass episode i think? and the latest FP will be free? not sure

GRAVEWEAVER

Unfortunately it will most likely never happen due to webtoon. I cannot elaborate more but they own some rights to ITGR. My favorite streamer is girl dm! :) She is one of my friends.

Frezzy Savvy

Hi Grave! Hope you’re well. Absolutely love your comic and am ecstatic for return! Do you happen to play video games like Fortnite, COD, Minecraft, Assassin’s Creed? And by any chance do you know the game Pokemon Unite? I wonder if you’d like any of them

GRAVEWEAVER

Ive played minecraft since i was a kid but of those four you listed that is the only one ive played. I know pokemon unite but i never tried it out, i try not to get into match-based games anymore and just stick to mmorpg and games with narratives :)

Frezzy Savvy

Hey, one more question! Not sure if you’re still taking inquiries here but when you say return date is May 25th, does that mean ITGR will continue updating Saturdays at 9 pm EST (so season return today) or the season will return tomorrow? I know webtoon always said ITGR updated on Sundays but for American users it has always updated on Saturdays
