So the first thing that hit me was how professional VIZ was. Obviously I can't really talk in detail about WEBTOON because a lot of stuff is confidential, but oftentimes I am left confused and dissatisfied at the company. VIZ has just been straightforward, honest, and efficient.

Another thing that got me was how lax the timeline was- I have until basically early next year to polish volume 1 which involves drawing a cover, some bonus material, and redrawing some panels. They seem to have their pipeline down to a T, so there's no rushing involved at all. They take their time to get things right. It's honestly incredibly refreshing compared to what I'm used to.

...It was actually kind of funny regarding the cover (which i will talk more in detail in another blog post), they wanted me to do some rough drafts and asked me to get it to them in a month. I had 5 full color drafts and one almost complete cover to them within the week, WHILE I was drawing a chapter, because this is just the pace I'm always working at. I felt almost... An anxiety, at the idea of taking a month to work on something XD

Anyway, thirdly, VIZ actually pays for any assistance I might need. "Huh? That sounds totally normal" you might think- It's NOT for WEBTOON. I pay every single assistant out of pocket, about $600 a week. As you can imagine, this adds up to an insane amount of money. I'm incredibly lucky ITGR is well established and has a dedicated group of fast passers so I can afford to pay assistants, or else I would absolutely NOT make the deadlines at all with the quality I try to put out. So anyway, I was shocked VIZ was like "Yeah we'll just find and hire a page reformatter for you"... I am extremely grateful.

So anyway, I am having a very positive impression so far! Things could change obviously, but I feel like they deserve a proper praising for how well they've treated me in the opening stage. And they're paying me very well too- Yeehaw!
