2026-08-03 SASSELLO E I SUOI AMARETTI (Patreon)

A presto miei amici

Hello friends, I hope you had a great weekend.
I took a trip to Liguria, specifically to Sassello, the town of renowned amaretti, although some might say amaretti originate from Saronno or Novi Ligure.
Let's just say that, as with many specialties, the homeland is disputed, not the softness, because the Sassello amaretti are a sweet treat with a soft center made of apricot kernels (armelline), sugar, almonds, and egg white. Then, a few additional ingredients are added to give them different flavors, such as lemon, berries, coconut, coffee, rum, and all the imagination of these skilled pastry chefs.
A swim, a bit of sun, and a farmhouse nestled in the Beigua National Park, which also gifted me with cooler temperatures, especially in the evening during dinner under a beautiful pergola.
It could be a postcard with "Greetings from...", but it's definitely a way to tell you about a place full of history and interesting cuisine!
If you're passing through Sassello (in the province of Savona, just above Albisola), stop and stroll along the narrow streets that tell the story of a town that hasn't been depopulated, but rather has maintained the beauty of its houses, cobblestones, and a sundial that urges you to remember how time, despite its passage, helps us remember all the things that happen in our lives.
And who knows, maybe one day we'll prepare Sassellesi!
See you soon, my friends.
