Josie and the Pussycats. Long tails, and ears for hats. Won't run when they hear scat. You voters who voted for this, you made Lina's month! But was this actually any good or were the critics right in 2001?

"Is Rachel Leigh Cook a leading lady?" Hallmark thinks so. TBF the movie's she's done over have been decent as far as Hallmark movies go. She acts them well and generally has good chemistry with whatever dude they stick her with, which is kinda the best you can expect from a Hallmark romance lol

I’ve never seen Josie and the Pussycats. I’ve seen Alan Cumming play Cabaret’s EmCee on Broadway twice. Despite not seeing Josie, hearing Todd say Alan is far better in this than Cabaret is shorting out my circuits.

I remember reading at least one pretty positive view of Josie and the Pussycats at the time it came out (I think it was in Toronto's Globe and Mail). The obvious adult joke in it is that De Jour's hit song is "Back Door Lover".

I liked hearing how much Lina enjoyed this movie.

“This is a very pre-9/11 movie!” ::35 minutes later:: “The New York Times said that few people other than future airline passengers should be subjected to such misery.” Damn, NYT, read the room

I love this movie. That's all I gotta say.

I NEVER THOUGHT I’D HEAR ANYONE ELSE REFERENCE THE JABBER JAW LUNCHBOX SONG. Now I’m also thinking about the one They Might Be Giants did for Courage the Cowardly Dog. I’ve never heard anyone talk about those little music videos, but there were a lot of genuinely good ones, and they live in my head 24/7!!

Wow I’m so late to this but surprised at the Pain reference from Lina! (The Jabberjaw song band) Their album “Full Speed Ahead” is actually super good.

Wagner Koop

The band is called Pain if you want to hear it in HQ or check out their other music :)

Trying to look this up it certainly wasn't the regular movie review in the Globe I was thinking of (which was a 2/4). Reading a few others I found that the Variety review of the movie from April 2001 by Joe Leydon loved the movie and viewed it as perfectly capturing the zeitgeist etc. Although it is somewhat different from the review/essay I was thinking of (the one I'm thinking of has fewer cat puns at least).
