WE'RE BACK. Song vs. Song returns from hiatus and we're so happy we could blow chunks. You made us watch a movie we could recite in our sleep but does it hold up now that we can see what losers Wayne and Garth are? Listen and argue which of is Wayne and which of is Garth.

Welcome back! I've missed my Song vs Song fix.

Welcome back, dudes!!! ( I tend to use dude as gender neutral ❤️) I hope you are both doing well and hugs all around for everyone that wants one! ❤️

Yeah Todd really might be the only YouTuber not to get any Raid: Shadow Legends bucks. Pretty sure even Hank Green did one at one point.

( I completely made up that detail about Hank Green)

Yay!!!!! Love to see my favorite podcast back!!!

Some news you probably missed: Mike Myers made "elbows up" a rallying cry in Canada, to resist US attempts to undermine Canadian sovereignty. You can see him mouthing it and making a gesture during recent-ish SNL outtros, and it is, of course, a hockey reference.

I’m 23 in the year of our lord 2025 and I’m aware of Borat. I’m caught up.

I was born in 1970, Wayne's World came out my college senior year. Several friends said they were shocked to see themselves in a movie. We all grew up with Oliver Stone and Wall Street and The Big Chill telling us the 60's were amazing and important and it's great to be a rich yuppie and they'll never get old. Wayne and Garth spoke and acted like us with a frame of reference we knew. It's not an important movie, but Wayne's World captured something authentic that Reality Bites absolutely did not.

Shrek, 2001: Yer goin the right way for a smack bottom (improvised, funny) Austin Powers to Fook Mi, 2002: You're going the right way for a smack bottom, and I don't care WHO knows it! (crickets)

Zillenial here, Shrek 5 is already happening

Welcome back! I'm fairly sure I'm roughly Todd's age, but I grew up with older siblings and MTV so very different relationship with Wayne's World when it came out. It was probably the biggest live action cultural juggernaut for elementary school kids in the early 90s and exposed us older Millennials to a passé bit of 70s arena rock called "Bohemian Rhapsody. It was probably the live action counterpoint to The Simpsons in not really being for our age group, but we quoted it a lot. Speaking of the Simpsons, this is a fascinating exchange when rewatching: "Paramount wants you to do a buddy comedy with Rob Lowe and Hugh Grant..." "Those sick freaks!!!" (said by Troy McClure who is trying to revitalize his career that ended due to an eluded sexual proclivity for fish.)

I'd argue the Wayne's World Corporate Sponsors Bit was the quintessential joke of the 1990s

Wait till you see the Madonna "Beautiful Stranger" video for Austin Powers: The Spy who Shagged Me.
