I have been CRAAAAAAVING my three regular weekly events that I've had to skip out on for three weeks in a row! Art Night on Mondays, yoga on Thursdays, and, of course, figure drawing on Wednesday nights.

My good friend Lucy Bellwood is in my house for a whole week (!!!), so I took her along to figure drawing last night! I'll include a photo of her painting so you can compare our angles and approaches. :)

Back in the saddle! Here's my 5-minute sketches...

Here's my sketch for the long pose. I liked the sketch a lot! Obviously I had a hard time with his face, as I always do with this model.

I started off doing such a good job taking process photos, and then...

... got too immersed in the painting and forgot! Here's the final scan:

We had some good knees and good feet on this one! Here are some close-ups (I highly recommend outlining your pencils in colored pencil and limiting yourself to JUST the brightest most ridiculous colors, btw):

(Especially RED for those translucent fleshy bits.)

Here's the original painting if ya want it! Type in ARTNERD50 at checkout for your 50% off Art Nerd Tier discount, thankyouverymuch and you'rewelcomeverymuch!

Lucy was over to my left, with Michael in the center (he separated us so that we wouldn't pass notes in class). I love her treatment of all that chest hair that I'm always nervous to draw in! I drew it in mine this time, but only because I was inspired by Lucy's approach.

I'm typing this out at the kitchen table so that she can take over my drawing board upstairs.

She's currently inking Seacritters, which is a young adult graphic novel about capybara pirates (!?!!!?!!). Lucy is doing the BEST WORK OF HER LIIIIIIIFE, this book is going to be incredible!

Lucy's got a Patreon, too, in case you're interested in getting updates on her progress with the book!

That's it for now! Gotta catch up on daily comics so I can have a decent-sized batch for y'all tomorrow!

Lucy chose to skip his tattoo. (presumes you weren't just adding it all these years for funsies) Have you ever skipped a tattoo or piercing for some reason?

Ohhh kneees, four knees all lovely! I think your left knee (the model's right) is my favorite, but I admire everyone's knee approaches, haha. And I love that you textured in some body hair this time!

Yarrr! Capybara pirates!

I FREQUENTLY skip over tattoos! I think piercings feel more like little landmarks - like moles or bumps - but tattoos, we have to look "past" them to get to the anatomy, so it's pretty common for artists to forget to draw them in after accomplishing the highlights and shadows of the landscape below them!
