I can't complain too much about this project; I agreed to it, which was kind of dumb. It's not in my wheelhouse at all; it's a straight, boring house, and I didn't realize they wanted it in color until after I said I'd do it.

I didn't feel comfortable doing it in marker - especially since I found out markers aren't MEANT to be colorfast - so I decided painting straight lines would be a great idea, eyerolllll!

BUT! It was a good challenge, I learned more about gouache, and I finished it, and it's ready to ship out tomorrow. This was for Luke's close friend from college, in case you're wondering what level of intimacy one must have with me in order to get me to make a painting of your very straight house.

Here's a link to Ira's wonderful book full of watercolors, in case you'd like a copy! She has step-by-step instructions on how she paints (and how to create your own watercolors from scratch). The insight into her process really gave me a boost of confidence. Sometimes it helps to know that the people you look up to ALSO spend lots of time waiting for their work to dry between layers, that you're not doing it wrong, and that good paintings take some patience.

Cozy Days was already on my wish list, but I just moved it to the top!

Oh, man, waiting for paint to dry is, as the kids say, A Mood. Also, I love how much you warmed this up and seeing all the little processes!

I enjoyed seeing the start-to-finish, too, so I thought you guys might like a peek! ^_^
