I've got three names and I need to choose one by noon Friday! WHO IS SHE, this sweet ol' sugardish??

But there are men who've been living in this area since the Seventies (before the liquor control board finally shut down the Brocade Lounge for good) who still fondly call her "Bubbles." There's a gleam in her eye that can only be acquired through decades of loving life and living without regret.

Oh no, it's neck to neck with Edna and Verna! Is it Vedna? Erna?

It’s funny what voting does. I went from, “I guess I’ll pick [Cheryl], I wonder what everyone else said?” To “I am SO RIGHT, how can ‘they’ not see?”

If you look at the Social Security data on baby name popularity: "Verna" peaked in popularity in the 1910s and has fallen off significantly since then. "Edna" peaked the decade before and has suffered a similar fate. "Cheryl" peaked in the 1960s. So if you see the character as a woman in her 50s-70s, Cheryl is a great name. If she is an immortal vampire who was turned late in life or an incredibly sturdy centenarian, Edna and Verna make sense. (And no, this is not just me being mad that more people didn't vote for Cheryl.)

Edna makes me think of Edna Mode from The Incredibles... She's very much a Verna!

I dunno, she looks like a Maxine to me. heh. Seconding Jemaleddin's comment, though - she looks to be about my age, and "Edna" and "Verna" were names for my aunts and grandparents. I don't know ANYone in my age group with those names. Lots of Marys, Dawns, and Julies, but Edna? Verna? Not for anyone born less than like 80 years ago.

Funny enough, Mary was my fourth option! Admittedly, I think I'm going for the "these are the names of people who were old in movies from the eighties" and anyone who knows me well knows that I haven't really updated my taste in films since... 1999. That's why I threw in a Cheryl, actually! I guess ol' Edna here was named after a great-aunt, woe is her!

I always thought it would need to be a two-part name, like "Betty Sue," or "Martha Jean" or something.

I need to go with the one that is neither my mother nor my aunt.
