I joined the CCS figure drawing session again this morning. We had a nice treat! Two models at once! One was the model I did my first guest lecture with; the other was his wife. They bickered adorably throughout the session.

We started out with 30 second poses, but since there were two of them, it was really half the time! The first ones were robed, which forced us to focus on shape rather than details.

Then 30 seconds unrobed...

45 seconds...

And onto 2-minute poses, which felt like a luxury!

After that we tried an exercise that I wasn't sure would work, but wound up being kind of interesting. One model would stay in a pose for a long time, and the other would hold shorter poses around them.

Easier to do with layers in a digital format than on paper, in my opinion!

Add 'em together (+ one more) to get:

Here's the next one we did:

Separated so you can see these two:

We broke that exercise and did a few standard 10-minutes (so, more like two 5-minutes)...

And then back to the unusual exercise, this time a 15-minute pose with 3 5-minute poses.

We had them dress in street clothes and do one last version of this, a 20-minute with 4 5-minutes around him.

And then my laptop blacked out because I forgot to plug it in. ;)

The exercise was kinda cool in that we had to keep the shape & size of the moving figure consistent in relation to the unmoving one, but the wide angle lens gives you a really great depth. So when that moving model is placed behind the still one, they're pretty dang small in comparison to when they're right up front - like in the above example - and take up a lot of space.

Anyway, that was my morning. Not a bad activity to start a drizzly day. :)

These are so great! I love the effect of the loose figure 'moving' around the clearer, more detailed one.
