If you're following Elephant Town both here and a week later on Instagram, it's possible the latest update struck you as being a little sunnier than the originals I posted here a week ago.

Coloring Miranda's pages has been a struggle for me, because getting the right melancholy feeling tends to make the pages look more muddy than golden.

By now you may have noticed that each character has their own line color and color scheme: Kris is a red-purple; Paul a cold blue; Berto a warm green; and Miranda... well, either gold or mud.

And maybe the mud is kinda appropriate to match her mood. But I think the perked-up versions help the characters stand out a bit more, and the book will probably need that saturation boost when it's printed on paper.

ANYWAY, I thought you might like to see the differences and judge for yourself. Curious to hear your thoughts, if you have any. :)

Edit: Oh, and thanks to your help with the second page, I altered the dialogue so the church ladies' entrance makes a little more sense!

Thanks. Seeing this brightened MY day.

I think the gold is better. Her melancholy doesn't strike me as quite so muddy, really. More that she's removed and pensive. The gold kind of hearkens back to that underwater dream she had, like sunlight coming through to the seabed.

Mmm yeah - THOSE colors were what I was looking for. :) Thanks, Cat!

See, I don't have an eye for those kinds of things -- I wouldn't have named the difference if you hadn't -- but I can totally feel them. Thanks for the explication!

Weirdly enough, I liked the brighter version on the 1st two panels, and the darker two on the second two! But still wonderful, thank you for sharing. <3
