I only made it to half of tonight's figure drawing group, so I brought my iPad along with me (faster!) and pretended to play with watercolors, instead of taking the time to set up & paint with actual watercolors.

But first, as always: gotta get the lines out.

I liked that our extremely long-haired model decided to do an 80s-style side-ponytail!

The next one's my favorite from tonight:

After this, I started a new full-body study...

... only to realize that I didn't have much time left to make a final piece, and that knee on the left was KILLING ME (I have no idea what's inside a knee. Bones? Mice?) and that I should really take the time to study it.

Studying it made me no more aware of what's underneath, but at least it looks like a knee. The more I draw 'em the more likely I'll be able to draw 'em without looking at reference! Or at least that's how I've been told it works!

Definitely mice. I love the lines of the hair in the colored piece.

I love how you've blocked out the colors in this piece.

I love that color piece! And also, knees are made of grumpy mice and chipped marbles, or so mine inform me.

Ahahaha Amy!! A friend of mine said her knees sounded like the Hulk was squeezing bubble wrap in his hand and I haven't been able to come up with a better explanation of what my knees sound like in the winter, but chipped marbles sounds like the next phase.
