I've never been so happy to have poison ivy in my life.

Still gotta shop vac up all the D-earth, though. At least all the laundry in the entire house is clean!

My dog picked up fleas first time ever the other week after taking her over to a relative's house. She didn't tell me that her cat had fleas. So mad. 1st dog to ever have fleas in this house for the 25 years living here.

If you want tips, I'm a veteran and can walk you through the hell nightmare that is flea infestation. You have my sympathy.

Super love the laundry frame with the cat tails sticking up at the bottom!!

I've had poison oak, and can't say that it feels like having fleas, but yeah, it itches like no ones business. Sorry that you had that, and that you had to put diatantous earth everywhere.

OMG! LOL! I hate it when my troubleshooting goes awry like this. I ended up throwing out a perfectly good coffeemaker once before I realized my half-and-half was spoiled.

My wife and I got sand fleas sleeping a beach on vacation in Florida back in the 80s. The ER doc gave us Benadryl and sent us to the laundromat. Got rid of the fleas quickly, but the bites stayed for weeks. It's a hell I wouldn't wish on an enemy!

Fleas are the worst. Poison ivy is also the worst. And this year we had those cicada mites... I actually had to get antibiotics for one of those bites.

Ha! Yes, it's a big relief to find out that the cause of a problem is simple and has no long-ranging consequences. As opposed to a bug problem, where you're engaged in a battle with no end and no obvious victories.

(FUCKING PANTRY MOTHS!!! Only arson will eliminate them completely. I've had mice find their way into my place once or twice, which was followed by humane traps, a release in a nearby nature reserve, and the hope that these little critters beat the odds and would make a successful transition to a new environment. I had groundhogs in the backyard at my old place. "They have nearly as much right to be there as I do," I thought. I even scolded a neighborhood kid for hassling them. But every time I see a pantry moth fluttering helplessly inside a sticky trap...no, the spirit of St. Francis is nowhere in my heart.)

Poison Ivy! *shudders* I'd rather have fleas! I was highly allergic to it when I was a kid. All I had to do was think I saw it and I had it. One time I had in my eyes and my left eye wouldn't open until about 3 hours after I got up. As this happened in the 70s my parents send me to school regardless. Just one of the many reasons I didn't have any friends in grammar school.

Never had fleas, but I've had scabies twice and they freaking SUCK. Developed full blown paranoia about garage sale items. Absolute MISERY when I was in college, trying to wash everything I owned in dorm laundry rooms, cost me like 3 rolls of loonies to wash everything and my stupid roommates did bother so we all got them AGAIN.

Oh wow, BLESS YOU for RELEASING MOTHS INTO THE WILD?!?! Andy, what a soft heart you have!! (I've got a drain moth problem, myself. They're so cute, though! I can't kill them!)

Dawn is exactly what I go to (when I know I've touched poison ivy) and it's worked! Uh, emphasis again on "when I know I've touched it."

Andy Ihnatko

Heh...no, it was the mice, not the moths. But I'm a big softie when it comes to fellow mammals. I was catching the mice in humane live traps and probably released about nine or ten before I found and patched all of the cracks where they were getting in. One of them somehow got his pink little nosie stuck through one of the ventilation holes of the trap. So there I was, sitting on the ground near a trail in a nearby nature reserve, sawing through the plastic using the delicacy of a neurosurgeon so that the mouse could be free to seek its new fortunes with its booper intact. But pantry moths can eff RIGHT off. I haven't had a problem with them at my current place. But the only solution to getting rid of them at the old place was literally moving away, and not taking anything with me that hadn't spent a week freezing in the old place's garage.

Oh I totally missed the word "mice" and was really impressed that you managed to find humane MOTH traps! Awww that nose-pinched mouse really lucked out. :)
