I wasn't super into the drawings I did tonight, but I was focusing on something else for our three hours together: value. Something I constantly struggle with. So, form kinda took a backseat.

It was short pose night, so we started with our usual 5-minutes...

Totally meant for that leg to be twice the length of her torso and head, TOTALLY MEANT THAT!!

^ how I felt about my drawings, but I kept chugging!

Two ten-minute poses...

... and some 20-minutes to round out the night.

I was happy with the highlights on that one!

Fave of the eve:

And the last 15 minutes of the night went to this one, which I freehanded with a brush instead of sketching lightly in pencil first:

I let myself get dinner at the Meck last night, and snapped this photo of its perfect backyard:

... then went home and started a little painting of it, in part to try out some gorgeous Canson boards I bought, which are DELICIOUS to paint on! Here are a few sneak peeks:

At first I thought adding black ink kinda deadened it, but I think it's just taking the painting in a different direction. I'll show more as I work on it!

There's a quiet, powerful, dignified beauty about #6. I love it.

I'm always in awe of how you can break spaces down into these gorgeous pieces - both figures and places!

"Value," as in HSV value?

I love that last purple one, a good mix of midtones, highlight, and shadow, with a very organic feel to it. Also the one before it, 10/10 on the highlights! I have highlight problems, can you tell? XD

I looked that up and my jaw dropped. I didn't know what that stood for! I'll have to look into it, but: I just meant lights and darks and how they're used to define shape.
