Between Michael's busy season, me catching covid, vacations, and models who've had to cancel, we've had a hell of a time getting together for our Wednesday sessions! This was the first since JUNE, and holy shit I missed it!

Started out with five minute warmups:

A coupla tens:

... and then spent the rest of the evening with twenty-minute poses.

I was tempted to jack up the contrast on these after I scanned them, but I really like the soft look of them, so I left them alone. :)

We should be on track to keep this up next week and beyond! I missed it, I missed it, I missssssed it.

Nearly every time you post one of these sets I cannot help but think to myself that I wish you could draw me naked. I hope that's not creepy LOL

That's not creepy, it's the greatest compliment you could give me. :)

You know, if I could build on that sentiment, as I've gotten older, I've put on a lot of weight compared to my svelte youth and I struggle with a proportionate amount of body shame. I was reminded not long ago of a nude study that Rodin did of Balzac in which B was built very much like I am now, but his proud, almost defiant stance makes him look striking and beautiful, to my eye, anyway. That image really helps me be okay with myself. The way you draw this model -- and all your models, for that matter -- is so loving, so present to the wonder of what being human can look like, I really get what Laura is saying. Your pen (brush, stylus, etc.) clearly loves people. <3

Practicalities aside (the chances of us ever ending up in the same physical location are pretty slim), I'd love to be drawn by you too; the care and respect and love for embodiment in your drawing is wonderful 💜

Catching up on long-lost comments I didn't catch the first time around; this means so much to me. It reminds me of how I feel around caricature artists; we all just LOVE the things about each other that make our faces and bodies unique. I had one artist I'd never met before, who sat in front of me and was just about to draw me, and suddenly exclaimed "You have like, thirty-five lines in your neck!!!" and set to drawing them all. I've always had a weird liney neck that makes me look even older than I am, and in that moment I was so happy to have them. :) In short: I get it. Thank you, David!

I missed a few comments the first time around, and just saw this. This is so sweet to read, thank you Pete!!
