Since I'm leaving at an absolutely IMPOSSIBLE hour tomorrow for San Francisco, I figured I'd post this week's dailies for ya early, and share the rest when I'm back home. :)

(Minus the weed cookie one, since you already saw that.)

SO many breakups happen on our street! I assume because it's the first really private-looking street up from the bars, but oh ho ho, it is NOT private at all. Not while I'M home.

(Except now, in the winter, while my storm windows are still installed and it's too hard to hear what they're saying. *shakes fist*)

Pip, my son, my teenaged son. <3

Underneath the fugly carpet and linoleum in our house is a hardwood floor. Why oh why was it covered up? I love your floor...

Dear gods, I wish I could still wear the shoes I loved from the way back machine. Alas, rotten crumbling ankle. Your docs most likely get energized from the accidental Pip love. Cats are assholes.

Margaret Lutz

This is exactly like our baby. We put down blankets where she'll be happy and of course annoy her by talking about her when she's trying to sleep. (Also a black cat <3 )

Not living in a place with storm windows, my question is, why didn't you creak them open, to hear better, or would you have been too obvious, or do storm windows not open?

kaitou

Not sure about Danielle's house, but storm windows are typically installed from the outside with some "twist to lock in" thing; so, no, they don't open (from the inside).

kaitou

Yeah, brains sometimes have a mind of their own. (Both Lar and I can verify that.)

Amy Crook

I love these and also I forget that Pip is huuuuge. Amazing.

Some storm windows are a solid pane of glass installed on the outside of the regular window, while others can be opened and closed like regular ones, but you have to open the regular ones first. Either way, it's not something that can be done quickly and/or silently. To make it really complex, some folks put plastic over the inside of the windows as well!

I never used to make my bed until I discovered my then cat, Ozzie, loved to sleep on the top most blanket and would squeeze himself onto the tiniest exposed piece of it no matter what. He's been gone almost 10 years but I still spread out the covers every morning.

Also, that same cat loved my Timberlane boots and would follow me around when I got home, waiting for me to take them off so he could sleep in them. So funny to see him snoozing with his head hanging out of the back of them as well as his little dance on the inner soles before he settled down!

You could create a comic anthology with each story based on an overheard breakup! Put that late night brain work to use!

Our Millie cat follows the sun across the living room in the mornings... first on the chair, then on the floor closer and closer to the window as the sun gets higher.

You're coming to SF?? Are you doing any public events out here? I hope our weather treats you decently. Please enjoy piles of downed tree branches all over the place, courtesy of Tuesday. 😬

I don’t think I will ever get over just how big Pip is. My pile of darkness is so small compared to him (and my rainbow kitties.)

Theadora

You draw cat paws so expressively!
