The episodes really pick up after this. Most of the background needed for the rest of the series was covered. Now the fun begins!

Thank you for starting this drama. It had been on my watchlist for a long time but had not got round to watching it. I love the story is going to unfold with a backdrop of historical events. The Battle of Ganghwa was a real historical event and those black and white still photos were the recreations of real photos taken at the time. The large Sujagi (Korean battle flag) seen in the photo was captured by the Americans after the battle. The Sujagi was formally returned to South Korea in 2007 on a long-term loan. I don't know if it is still in Korea or is brought back to the US. Speaking of flags, I was impressed by the attention to details. During the battle, the correct US flag was shown - a 37 star flag. And as a foreign-born American, I could not help but laugh when the US commander claimed the United States military was "righteous"

I love the cinematography and dialogue / scenes of this drama. Like when it cuts to the Young King and advisors asking for water as they eat a lavish meal, straight back to the gunman yelling for fire for his gun to protect that station along the coast. Water puts out fire, meaning that it was a hopeless battle, the soldiers stationed there were just sacrificial lambs/cannon fodder, so they could keep enough guards if a revolt or civil war was to break out in Korea. No backup was coming. Those scenes in quick succession is telling us that the advisor and unknowingly the young king has just put out the flame and only defence of a loaded gun that was there to serve them and perform what they thought was a noble mission in protecting the Kingdom

Very nice, one of the reasons I finally choose to become a member.
