I'm in need of some input from y'all.

With Dandadan and Dunmeshi ending in the next couple weeks, I need to decide what to do with those slots. JJK S3 and Frieren S2, which I think of as BIG shows with a dramatic impact on the industry, have been hanging in the background and I feel like I should watch 'em. They're both fairly short (13 and 10 episodes) and I feel like they fit the slots and timeframe right now perfectly - JJK for Friday following Dandadan, Frieren for Tuesday following Dunmeshi, more riffing on Dunmeshi's vibe than holding to Teehee Tuesday. So that's what I kind of want to do... but at the same time I'm wary of going full authoritarian-mode and dictatoring literally all the slots. Audience participation in polling is really important to me. So I'll throw it to the people who pay my bills and care most what I watch and have the most to lose from not polling... whaddya think? For the record, I don't know what would go on any potential polls.

Felipe Ramon Gama

Honestly I kinda wish you’d prioritize continuations a little more, there are so many shows that have continued since you watched them

Lucas Moya Osorio

Will there be any off season animes aside the seasonal ones happening atm in the poll?

Mini_Muni

I promise you will NOT be disappointed if you watch those now, a lot of people even say the back and forth of watching JJK3 and Frieren 2 is a roller coaster lol

Jeff

I would vote for these shows anyways if they were on a poll

Teeaboo

Sorry, I don't really understand the question?

TheWaggishAmerican

If you weren't going to do freiren 2 at some point I was going to be very disappointed lol. Ditto mushoku 3 when it hits

AP

Some great/interesting seasonals this month as well. I would especially love for you to continue Dorohedoro!

Akachi

Here's me hoping you could squeeze in a GuP part 4 movie before or after you start jjk or Frieren 🙏

Mini_Muni

I guess they’re asking if there was a poll, would there be any currently airing seasonals featured? Or just JJK and Frieren as the seasonals and some other shows. I don’t really know though lol.

RazorTH

I can only talk about JJK S3 in this case, unless you're really curious about watching the newest part, since it was really good imo, I feel that it can wait in favor of other shows.

zbengui

I second this. I need it!!

Melanie Rojas

Dorohedoro NEEDS more love for sure!

Fabian Alpuche

Shoutout to continue with gridman sequel and monogatari

D4C

I would frankly wait for all of jjk to be released, but you can’t go wrong with both of these. They’re pretty good.

DemoniCross

"Interest gauge" sounds like a poll fo me... Anyway jjk3 pls thx :D

Fabian Alpuche

I think you should also prioritize to continue older shows that have sequels, like gridman sequel (dinazenon), monogatari , hibike euphonium, the evangelion movies, just to name a few shows that had sequels after you finished them

MashedPotatoes

I feel like it is unfair for frieren and jjk to get special treatment when there are many other anime sequels you have yet to watch (and that I would be more interested in you reacting to)

Time's Stop Dinosaur

Very excited for JJK3, but I will like also other shows, so if will be cool one of each, a big show and some variety, I personally will love brave bang breavern, very underated show, I miss your Mecha/super robot reactions. Sorry if this read like a mess 😭 English is not my first language.

toby

I think it would be reasonable to have JJK s3 and Frieren S2 back to back on the same slot, lets be real they will win the polls but i dont think it's fair to put both of them straight through regardless (and they're only 20 episodes together) and then run a poll for tuesday/friday slot as well as a poll for whether to watch jjk or frieren first the other day

Bonny2132

I think we're due for a bit of a mix up tbh. I'll always vouch for variety and the shows that would otherwise get overshadowed. Personally I still want to see reactions for Umamusume, Mob Psycho S3, Hibike Euphonium S3, Takopi's Orginal Sin, CITY: the animation to name a few. ..

ML Snow

Finally, JJK S3 was phenomenal. Frieren season 2 was good too, even though it was only 10 episodes. Gosso was more involved in JJK than ever this season, I hope you enjoy it.

Bonny2132

JJK and Freiren only finished airing a couple weeks ago, I feel like they can wait for now, no need to rush them in to a slot right away.

Charlie

What if I only want one of those two things

ML Snow

Frieren yes, JJK too yay you can let others be happy too 😅

Bonny2132

Yup, If we keep giving the big powerhouse shows preferential treatment soon the channel is only going to be bouncing between Re:0-Mushoku-JJK-Frieren-DDD.

Nekol

I think not forgetting the sequels are important even if I didn't watch certain shows myself

Daniel Łątka

I think watching both JJK and Frieren makes the most sense. And both of them are just one cour so it's not like they will occupy the slots for long.

Paul

I’d like it if you kept up with the sequels to the shows you liked. I’d dislike it if you didn’t keep up with Mushoku Tensei when it’s back in the summer, even if you don’t start it till fall. Better than a year from when it aired waiting for a poll. But, if there is a poll, now or after these sequels, I’d like Eminence in Shadow for Teehee Tuesday. Also, for polls in general I think you should consider a ranked choice system for the future. That way one winner comes out and people can’t negatively impact a show that other people would prefer over 2nd place but aren’t their 1st choice. With ranked choice the winner is what the majority prefers over 2nd place.

mangaosuman

I think any show that has a sequel you should prioritize to watching and skipping polls for them. Now to have them take over the channel I would be against but maybe having a day for the sequel shows would be a good idea so the channel can keep a variety of shows while getting through the sequel shows.

Coughme

Giving powerhouses preferential treatment would be starting them as soon as they air and not waiting until they are finished and then deciding when to watch them. As the situation is right now - they will crush any polls they are in anyways, so dictatoring them in is just a shortcut. Tee is essentially deciding when to watch them, not if. You would only get a different result if he just ignored them and didn't continue them at all.

Brakthir

I'd also like to state that for me, I prioritize finishing sequels/being up to date on them instead of starting a new show

Rope Snake

Personally i dont particularly care for either of the mentioned shows but they're fresh and relevant and i feel like you may as well strike while the iron is hot, get them out of the way

Akachi

I get the feeling that he liked JJK and Frieren, but maybe that's just me lol

Lodged Scroll

As much as I would like to see Uma in the next poll and vote hard on in, but every episode of jjk S3 is so peak! Idk how S2 of Frieren is I still need to start watching it

Paul

You missed the point. I didn’t comment on these two shows specifically. I didn’t watch either of them. I had a more general statement about which sequels he should consider. If he didn’t care much for a show we chose for him, he shouldn’t feel any obligation to watch the sequel for us.

WildsKnight

I’d be fine if you decided to dictator those shows into the Tuesday and Friday slots. At the very least, I don’t think there’s any point in doing a poll if you were to put them as options, since they would almost certainly win. It’d only make sense to do if you were going to have them compete on the same poll (prob Friday) to keep the other one open. On a side note, I’ve always wished that sequels got a bit more love on this channel. It’s always felt a bit weird to have shows that were popular enough to win polls never get their continuations nominated for future polls. Would love to see the Hibike, Revue Starlight, and Monogatari sequels get a spot on future polls, at least to see if there’s still interest in them.

YukoValis

Personally not a fan of JJK, but Frieren would be fun.

foxtrix

You can ask in Recommendations for Teehee Tuesdays/Faito Fridays reccs. I'm sure the other members can come up with some variety for reccs. JJKS3/Frieren S2 is just too..."as expected" and I rather we have fun voting for the replacement slot than going with the boring choices

Wong Viriya

I'm fine and gonna watch both shows with you but if we do have a poll I'll vote for U M A

Juniper And Sage

Don't really care about JJK, but I'd appreciate the Frieren reactions. Really just hoping for Witch Hat reactions at some point.

Akachi

Just to be clear, this is why we both agree Frieren and JJK should just be on the slot without needing a full poll right (provided they win this easy quick poll)? Because they'll dominate polls and it will just be a waste of time. I personally love those two shows but I think those that don't would also see the logic behind this decision.

Akachi

My point is Frieren and JJK are sequels to shows that he probably likes. Which matches with your general point.

LordFifth

JJK S3 has some of the best animation and direction the anime industry has seen, for every episode. The story is quite good as well. I really don't get why some people hate on it for no reason

ElectricAnt

couldn't care less about the animation when the story is IMO atrocious

Kuba Lutek

Overhyped? It's got the most incredible direction in recent years, Gosso is a generational talent, especially in season 3. If anything, it's underappreciated.

Kuba Lutek

S3 of JJK is fantastic, so far the best in the series, don't care much about Frieren.

mobata

Yes! and also suspended show like kisekoi! lets gooo

mo momo

How about setting a dedicated day for watching sequels? You could even run polls within that slot to let us choose the order we watch them in. This way, you can keep your usual style for the other days while still giving us a say!

Robin

Don't care about Frieren. JJK season 3 is godly. So maybe split up the poll so JJK/Frieren are different options to gauge interest that way?

Kyle

i love jjk, but if you dropped it after season 2 then it’s unlikely that the series will turn around for you. it doesn’t really change tonally after that point.

Mantlar

I would like to interest you in witch hat atelier, it's basically on frieren level when it comes to fantasy anime

Beykn

JJK3 was a lot of fun, would definitely enjoy a reaction. Frieren 2 on the other hand was quite the disappointment, only just scraping on the greatness of season 1 in a handful of episodes. I would prefer to poll for the tuesday slot.

Teeaboo

This is viable, but it means losing a slot to sequels for a time.

Ernie mit der Brille

Me personally, I'm just hoping for Uma Musume (both Pretty Derby, the Movies, and Cinderella Gray) to get a chance to win some poll in the future. However I feel like any poll with hugely popular shows like JJK and Frieren would be kind of a waste as they would most definitely outdo smaller shows. So, I'm all for doing the JJK and Frieren reactions now and having another poll later on with more variety for shows. ^~^

Akachi

What are good stories to you? JJK's story got nothing on FMAB, Made in Abyss or Frieren, sure. It's probably also not nearly as generic or as simple as you are claiming it to be. You entertained the possibility yourself that maybe your tastes are simply too high. There're also personal preference combined with objectively good storytelling (i.e. hard to predict, playing with people's expectations, hooks that would intrigue most people, good execution such as well executed conflicts, logical storytelling, etc.). If a show has decent to good story (if you are willing to concede to that point), and it has fantastic animation and art direction, is it that overrated (i.e. 8.65/10 on MAL) or overhyped? It also really depends on the community I guess but I don't think it's even as popular as Solo Leveling or Demon Slayer? Side rant: Solo Leveling is indeed overrated and overhyped, and Demon Slayer S3 went to shit in terms of plot and logical storytelling. S2 was great, S1 is ok to good, and Zenitsu is also one of the worst coward archetype there is. I go on a long ass tangent here so don't need to read it (EDIT I just found out you didn't finish S2 so I added spoiler section notice): There are: --1-- simple shows that actually don't really do much in terms of story, actions or fights (e.g. Non Non Biyori). --2-- Shows that can be enjoyed even if you turn your brain off but has more subtle depths to them (e.g. JJK S2-3, parts of JJK S1, parts of Frieren, parts of Jojo Part 3). --3-- There are shows that are complex with a lot of underlying illogical plot or mechanics behind them (e.g. Jojo part 1, parts of Part 3). --4-- There are shows that are complex with little to NO underlying illogical plots or mechanics (Made in Abyss, parts of Frieren). For these 4 types of shows (in reality it's all a spectrum, not concrete categories) they can also be well executed or poorly executed (on a spectrum). Outside of these, there are personal preferences to specific genre, lore, settings, character archetypes, etc. When people complain a show is too simple, it could be: A) the show is actually simple; B) the show can be simple but has subtle depths but the person misses them. C) The person is literally too smart. D) The person is dumb but thinks they are smart. E) Anything in between A-B, and C-D. Furthermore, most likely it is also not in line with their personal preference. This "generic" shonen actually challenges the MC to literally change his solid beliefs and world view. At the beginning his views were similar to all other shonen MCs except in JJK he literally was forced to face reality and change it by S2. Characters that are actually useful and smart, not just because the plot said they are smart, but their actions that are shown to us are actually logical and tactical from the point of view of PvP games like Street Fighter 6. In the same vein, the fights do have aspects that required narration but at least the narration explains the same concept that are important in PvP games and even PvE games like Sekiro. --JJK S2 SPOILERS-- One example is mental stack: at the end of the Yuji + Todo vs Mahito fight, Todo used a very simple but effective bluff of clapping his arm stomp. Mahito in peak condition probably would have been able to prepare for both possibilities, but all three characters were mentally and physically exhausted. In the heat of the moment, Mahito got tricked by Todo. Even as viewers who have watched tons of anime and are familiar with tropes, this was the moment we expected Todo to pull off the HxH Netero pray from the heart trope, so it was very hard to predict what would actually happen. Part of this unpredictability is what makes the fights fun, and this applies to the story as well. Todo's bluff is a very simple concept on paper, but it works in PvP games at the professional level like Street Fighter 6 and League of Legends. In the final round of the match point to take the entire series, Guile player Higuchi walked up to the enemy Bison for 1.5 second and just grabbed him. Guile is a very slow moving character and under any other circumstances, even casual players would react in time and spam quick jabs to stop the forward walk. Higher level players, especially pros, play more cautiously because SF6 is quite volatile (i.e. most characters does a lot of damage and the rounds end very quickly). Thus at any moment when Higuchi was walking, he could have started to hit an attack button so the Bison player didn't know if his reaction would stop the advance or get him killed. One great option for the Bison player was to do a quick jab because it's the fastest move he has, so he has the highest chance to throw it out and have it hit Higuchi first, in case Higuchi decided to throw out an attack during his forward walk. But the Bison player's mental stack was too high so he didn't try to react and went with the easiest and safest option of blocking. --End of JJK S2 Spoilers-- TBF JJK S1 didn't do this nearly as well as S2. Everything about S1 was relatively simpler (but still well executed), so I get why S1 can turn a lot of people off. S3 does this even better than S2 because there are subtle match-up advantages that aren't narrated. I do also think Frieren does this even better because they actually do bring match-up to attention clearly and concisely, whereas JJK doesn't outright tell you during fights that actually needed quick note so viewers end up missing it unless they rewatch it or unless they are familiar with core PvP concepts. Part of that is probably because the JJK mechanics is already complex (at times convoluted but Mappa makes them easier to follow) so they already had to narrate a lot. So on that end I do say Frieren does it better but JJK is pretty good when it comes to intelligent fights compared to most shonen and even most shows.

Gonayr2

I will take the apparently bold stance of loving both JJK AND Frieren! Would be very happy to see both come into their respective slots :)

Hayaku Eon

Still waiting for the Isekai Shokudou sequel for me

foxtrix

Honestly speaking it sounds like he's already decided and this "feel the vibe" poll is just helping him to affirm it but that's just me (insert shrug emote here) kinda same vibe as mystery Wednesday show which turned out to be Orb as what I was expecting...but my opinion is gonna make people think I'm being a wet blanket of sorts

Teeaboo

It's ok, that kind of opinion is valuable to me. I have not decided yet. It's tough, cuz I think these will dominate a poll if they're on it

Akachi

Yeah, kinda crazy. Some people seem to think JJK is too simple (compared to what? maybe Frieren and Made in Abyss but not to most highly rated shows), some don't seem to like Frieren S2 or Frieren in general. JJK is actually not that simple, people just miss the details. Like any great shows, JJK is done well enough so that even with brains turned off, it can still be enjoyed as a well executed "simple" show. Frieren can be enjoyed with brains turned off too.

Bowsber

Genuinely so interesting seeing how many people take the stance that JJK is 'simple' with a 'bad/bland story', especially when Tee clearly got so much out of it. I guess it's just one of those shows where you only really get out what you put into it, but I can't help but feel frustrated seeing people clearly not giving the show enough credit and losing out on what I think are some really dense and unique themes and philosophies. (Obviously, season 3 is just ridiculously gorgeous too). For Frieren, I actually think it'd be better to wait for Season 3 if anything. Season 2 wasn't bad at all, I just don't think it gives as much room for new discussions as Season 3 will eventually give. I wasn't particularly fond of the decision to go for a 10 episode season honestly. Also need to throw in Ikoku Nikki/Journal with Witch and Mono off/monster season as recommendations. Mono obviously being mono, and Ikoku Nikki was just genuinely so special.

RazorEX

Recommending Frieren and calling JJK generic when Frieren is extremely generic as well for it’s genre. Generic doesn’t mean bad so idk why you even use it as an insult.

RazorEX

Just say you’re illiterate mate, you don’t have to be a hater for no reason. Frieren is very generic for its genre so idk what you’re even on about, it’s not some crazy complex show. S2 is also much weaker than S1. I get the feeling most people that think Frieren is some unique and complex show never read a high fantasy book in their life to realise how simple Frieren is.

RandomThorn

I am personally rooting for Re:zero season 4 at some point but I understand that the others come first (it just started airing after all), so yeah I am cool with JJK and Frieren

A Humpier Rogue

Might as well get Frieren S2 over with IMO. Don't care for JJK but best to see it now than let it veer off to the ether. Watch Kusuriya no Hitorigoto!

Woodsie89

I think you should absolutely go Full Authoritarian mode when it comes to watching shows, especially sequels, that YOU clearly want to watch, and enjoy. (Unless of course you are going to put a bunch of shows I like on the poll... then go with that option :) Of course, if you are only doing it because they "have a big impact on the industry" and you yourself aren't actually enjoying them, then I'ts fine to move on and find other shows.

Midnight Blues

Frieren as one season and done is fine and JJK S3 is only half way done, part 2 to be released next year. So I think you should wait a little for that.

momomi

I'm still hoping for a third season of Sound! Euphonium.

Mini_Muni

There’s zero confirmation when JJK season 4 is releasing (yes, it WAS confirmed what we got was all of season 3. It was just part 1 of the arc itself.)

Remilia

Both JJK and Frieren sound amazing, but I do have to admit that I was hoping for some Witch Hat Atelier. Maybe after Frieren? It would be a good replacement.

WormySenpai

Been waiting for him to get back on Hibike since s3 finished.

GaoHarvey13

Monogatari Off&Monster Season!!!

bluepopsicle

Maybe I'm basic, but JJK S3 and Frieren S2 were some of my favorites from the past year+, so I'd be happy if you watched them. Plus, like you said, they're short - so other shows would have their chance soon enough.

ML Snow

Come on, man, you're not basic, and neither are they special. They simply don't try to watch anything popular in depth; they just like watching less popular shows to feel "different". The way they consume media is pretty sad. Meanwhile, you and I can enjoy both, so cheer up.

Nyv

Not gonna say no to JJK but it would probably be easier to decide if you gave us an idea of the shows you would dictator into a slot

Mini_Muni

Either that or do two times the work on one of the days (obviously not a great idea)

Doodlegame

I think that might be what they had in mind lol.

Dopamine Cloud

Don't think you should immediately generalize people that are out there actually exploring the medium as doing it entirely for self image reasons as opposed to the uncommon degree of passion it is. There is nothing sad in either option. Keeping up with mainstream appeal is important for context at minimum, so no matter what going all in on either is going to make you miss out big time. For example it is much harder and slower to develop refined taste and discernment sticking only to broad appeal works. It is harder to tell what it is you're enjoying exactly without checking out adjacent ideas in all directions, which will often mean watching a bunch of mid-rated forgotten shows and some cult classic OGs to witness evolution of style and the various takes on concepts. Basic is VITAL. Strange is VITAL. I'd accept no less.

Dopamine Cloud

Big agree on JJK. Though I do think most of its density comes from its power mechanics and character movements and less from theme (some juice there for sure tho), it's still right to call it dense. It is one of the only popular action shows with a meme dedicated to how easy it is to miss things and get confused if you're not paying attention.

Guile

I dunno. JJK and Frieren are good. I'm sure whatever else would win a poll would also be good.

Dane

It’s a no brainer, your gut was right

NeoViridian

I don't care about JJK but Frieren Season 2 seems like a no brainer so I think that works. On a poll though I'd love to see Re:Zero season 4 or Monogatari Off and Monster season

Yero19

Frieren is a must Tee!!! I really don't care about JJK so you can do another anime istead if you want

TerminuS

dk about JJK mainly cause I havent seen it. Frieren hell yes

Ryu44

Frieren needs to be on Fridays. Nothing's better than a good old Frieren Friday!

Kael

Frieren is literally the most overhyped show I have ever seen. You don't get jjk and that's fine. Not every story is for everyone.

Kael

Thanks for proving you didn't get jjk. Its not an extremely complex incomprehensible story but its not a generic simple action anime either lol

Mini_Muni

But I care about JJK! And Tee likes it too so

Kael

Calling it overhyped and generic is not a critique lmao. It's just your personal taste. You're masquerading your personal preferences as some objective fact, and you come across as a kid throwing a fit because your favorite show doesn't get as much attention as JJK. You didn't provide a single compelling argument for why anyone should take you seriously. Let's see those so called high standards provide actual critiques. You are a textbook example of the kind of people who try their absolute best to try to be an elitist with some otherworldly impeccable taste, but end up making a fool of themselves in front of everyone.

Kyle Smith

He most likely will do Re:Zero season 4 but he very rarely ever watches a show actively as it is airing. He likes to let it settle a bit instead of just giving into the immediate hype of a new release. It allows him to be a bit more objective with his analysis of the shows and it allows him to be a bit more flexible with how to watch them and release them. There is the argument though that it does lose some viewership from the people that want to ride the hype of a new series but Tea has generally never cared much about that stuff.

Teeaboo

Stop insulting each other in my fucking space or I will remove you.

hellios6

Sorry boss, just can't stand people like that. I deleted my comments and will not indulge in that again.

Muhd Wafri

Would love to see you react and analyze Journal with Witch/Ikoku Nikki. Seems right up your alley.
