The reason of the bad animation and art in general is because of the loli anime you watched episode 1 of, a lot of the staff that worked on S1 worked on that loli anime, and have not returned, this goes for the producer too which has brought in a lot of talent from outside which just are not here anymore, the schedule doesn't seem too great either as there are rumours of upcoming delays and some animators complaining on twitter that they were not even paid for the portions they did on this episode, they were told their parts won't be used and so discard it but then include it anyway without crediting, overall seems like the production is in shambles.

tbh this was by far the worst episode we got adaptation wise. They cut so much out of the snow drakes fight and treant fight. there were quite a few noticable animation errors. the pacing was way too fast and the unnecessary censoring....

I really agree about that the sequence is very weird and i think because they have summarized it so much, In rudeus vs treant it was supposed to be a long fight (and it was the first fight he alone analyzes all things vs the giant treant) and i think its bad. But the bad animation from the early episodes makes me excited because i really think they put the budget on the very later episodes which is supposed to be a peak from what the season covers.

I believe that scene of Rudeus accidentally catching Sara by the chest serves the purpose of showing his current condition of not being able to respond/react to sexual physical stimuli given how he didn't react to it at all like the usual male character does in an "accidental groping gag scene"
