Majapahit: An Empire of Water will air later in 2018!

History and myth blend like shadow puppets on a screen. In 13th century Java, Kublai Khan's fleet bears down on a young kingdom. But this small Hindu state will repel the Khan's ships, then reach beyond its borders to create a sprawling maritime kingdom. But there are many dangers for this new Indonesian empire—including corrupt rulers, surgical assassination plots, the rise of Islam, and the treasure fleets of Chinese Admiral Zheng He.

Darn it! And this Channel needs more non-Military Topics.

That's the second time you've had Gustavus as a contestant (and second time he's gotten runner up) you really want to do a video on him huh? :P

Joël Quenneville

Excited to hear about the Majapahit! I know virtually nothing about them other than the shoutout they got in "The history of the whole entire world I guess" and that they are a playable faction in Civ VI

Too bad Chandragupta got last place. I'd love to learn more about Indian history and Chandragupta in particular. Maybe he'll come back some day? Perhaps I should start submitting him every month instead of Xenophon :D

Has Majapahit been suggested before? The other ones were old suggestions but I can’t rememberer this one, but it might just be older one.

Sounds exciting! I've enjoyed EC's history videos for quite some time, and am very pleased to be a new patron :)

Yes, we will do Non-Euclidean Geometry and the 1918 Flu Pandemic before we air Majapahit. That said, as with our Genghis Khan series we are trying to look for opportunities within these topics to tell stories about culture too and not just battles. --Belinda

I've been wanting to learn more about Majapahit for years, ever since I first learned that the empire even existed. I've never gotten around to doing even cursory reading, so this should be really exciting.

Crap. I missed the vote. How long is voting open for?

Tobias Budiman
