The suggestion box for May/June is open until 6/9 so get your suggestions in now!

Our theme for May & June is BREAKING THE TIMELINE—1930s and 40s

More details can be found here

Some notes about suggestions:

  • If a suggestion we encounter only has enough research material/production scope for a one-off episode instead of a full series, we file it in a separate list to reference later when we are planning to schedule a one-off episode between series (this is true for every survey we do).
  • Only one suggestion per person please! Multiple suggestions from the same person during any given survey period will be manually removed.

Suggest a topic for Extra History! (Breaking The Timeline)

Submit between now and 12:00 PM PT on Wednesday, June 9. Anything that happened or got substantially started before the year 1929 is fair game to suggest. We typically don't cover more recent events, unless we're working with sponsors who can provide more documentation about that historical topic. Except not this time!

What about the Spanish Civil War (1936 to 1939)

I originally suggested the military buildup of Japan, but I decided to send a replacement suggestion: the operations of the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA). It was one of the first agencies of its kind, helping refugees across the globe who were affected by WWII. While it's operations weren't successful, it laid the groundwork for future humanitarian efforts by the UN. Would be a neat single episode I think.

Mr.

What about operation valkyrie? Where small a portion of the German army tried to stage a coup against the Thrid Reich.

You could talk about the indian boarding schools, or the history of the native american alienation process in general in Canada and in the US.
